G'day guys, today we are reacting to David Phelps with The Star Spangled Banner. This was the best version I have ever heard, to meld The Star Spangled Banner with Kashmir from Led Zeppelin. My brain is still trying to process who this works so well.

I was there!!!! And yes--it WAS just as powerful as you'd expect anything from David to be. I also appreciate this version as more often than not, freedom is a huge struggle, not easily won. (And don't even get me started on that top note!!! :D )

@Douglas Palmer it's actually the 1st and 4th stanza that David sings in this version, as it's now considered rude to our allies in the UK to sing the 2nd and 3rd stanzas

Hi Lyle I'm 'that someone' who posted in Twitter and FaceBook...lol aka LindaGee I just had to get it to you lol. And your 'reaction' was everything I knew it would be' When "Kashmir' rolls in, it somehow makes this spectacular anthem more intense. And holy cow that last note sends chills down my spine....David is just on a different level than most. I keep going back and replaying it...lol How on earth hasn't he won an Emmy for his outstanding musical genius is beyond me. Thanks for this 'reaction'

Great rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. One of my all time favorites. His sister is singing backing vocals. You can see her at 4:48. She sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2012. David has an amazing gift that he uses for God.

This is one of the special talents of David being able to create musical arrangements that are absolutely genius. I think he likes to surprise his fans with his crazy arrangements. He always does something like this to leave your jaw dropping. David did much the same to How Great Thou Art by adding an upbeat pop rock flavor to it which had John Owen Jones in awe. Who knew that would work but David. LOL.

It works so well because, David Phelps has the FAVOR OF GOD & He uses his GOD-GIVEN talent ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD !!! Ive been to many Gaither “concerts” in my life when the quartet was Bill, Mark Lowry, Guy Penrod & David Phelps (still the best in my humble opinion) & David has never ceased to amaze or greatly bless me with his amazing voice & ability to cause us to actually feel & experience whatever it is he is singing. He is such a humble & personable man of God also !! To God be the Glory & that is exactly what he lives & does !! God bless you Lyle !!
