How do I start historical battles in this mod?
@trippfields279
@trippfields279 6 жыл бұрын
Some insights by me. 1. So I think the Coalition's biggest mistake here was the deployment of the Prussian Army. Having them cutt off from the Austrians by the river was a mistake imo. The Austrians had no support until after they got pummeled by the French Cav charge(And by that point their 'Army' was basically a glorified holding force.) The Prussians were basically a null factor the entire match as they were pinned down defending against the French alone. Although to their credit they did manage to keep the French Far Right out of the true battle until the very end. 2. Surprisingly, I think the random players actually made better use of teamwork. Throughout the match they were very good about supporting one another. When a flank was faltering, they sent help. When a cav unit broke through a friend, they didn't hesitate to peel off some cav to help. The best chance for the Coalition came imo when the Bavarians and Austrians lured the French center right into an 'L' shaped crossfire trap. It was a brief moment to seize glory, but it ended up coming to nothing because the Austrians had already been so brutalized. Had the French Center been less successful, than the Bavarians could have wheeled hard left and pinned the entire French right against the River and butchered them. 3. The veterans were simply outmarched. This was a battle not just of firefights but maneuvers. Nearly everywhere the Grand Armee' outmarched the Coalition. Time and again you saw the British try to pick and roll left to support the Bavarians or flank the French Left. But each time they were stopped by the smart use of reserves or promptly deployed elements from the Center. I do give the British credit for being the best player on the Coalition side. He severely handled the French across from him but never could exploit his success because of the Army failing elsewhere. 4. In the end this battle came down to the Flanks. The minute the battle began I had doubts about Austrian Line Infantry facing off against French Infantry on even terms. When the French launched a mass cav charge against them, they broke(To no-ones surprise), and basically started a domino effect. They were unable to hold. In response, the Bavarians in the center had to pull double duty. They had to divert forces to babysit the Austrians as well as face off against the French in front of themselves. Obviously, this is hardly ideal. The British, seeing this, tried to provide support that very well could have salvaged that front. Unfortunately for them, the French, now winning on the Flank and Center, were able to shift 4 or 5 regiments West in order to force the British to cease their relief movement and take a stand. Otherwise they would be wrapped up.(Eventually they were anyways). In short, the Allies lost this battle not simply as a matter of luck or superior firepower, but because the French were able to keep tugging and tugging at the shoestring that was the Allied position until it finally snapped. The Flanks collapsed backward, the Center effectively ceased to exist for fear of losing the Flanks, and the Allied army found themselves in every commanders worst nightmare--the double encirclement. The Coalition forces have effectively ceased to exist as a fighting force, and with any luck, the Emperor's forces shall march into Berlin before Month's End.

well, to be honest, when you deploy you have to deploy in one area and you can't change. the game selects the area where your army is, so in all reality i dont think it was the prussian players fault.

Mr. Pope here, In command of the French army on the far right flank. Awesome commentary for probably one of my favourite battle's in my MP experience. This is what happens when four complete strangers use communication. It illustrates just how powerful it is. Total war is a game where this aspect is crucial, especially in NTW3 where the tiniest mistake or illusion of grandeur can cost you the battle. Always annoying when you get matched with randoms against a clan so was really refreshing to get such a gratifying victory. GG to the [RG] guys though... Well, the three that were good sports afterwards. P.S when you send in the video but Senpai gives the credit to someone else!! Aha

The Holy Roman Empire was a collection of princedoms, estates, principalities, duchies, and kingdoms that all were united by the Imperial Constitution. Basically a huge alliance of really small micro-states to large kingdoms (kind of like the EU). The Electors all voted to choose an emperor upon an Emperor's death. However, becoming emperor meant that you had a tremendous responsibility to make sure that the Holy Roman Empire doesn't fall apart and get conquered. Because of these responsibilities, large amounts of resources were needed. That is why Austria was 95% of the time, the Holy Roman Emperor (because they were large and relatively powerful). The Holy Roman Empire was not conquered by the Austrians but lead by Austria. It was the French that dissolved the holy Roman Empire in 1806.

+Ein Gamer Well, its not a government if there isn't have severe infighting! :) But seriously though, the Holy Roman Empire did have pretty heavy infighting at times but more often than not, they were united in not trying to get gobbled up. That's why the Emperor was often focused on making sure that the Empire was stable. Although I can't really speak for its later days since my knowledge is limited to 1400-1660.

One of the best! I really thought The Clan would prevail facing random opponents under the French flag. Maybe i'm old fashioned but I thought it was a little ungentlemanly when The Clan sent in their cavalry to eliminate some French cannon when both sides were still setting up, early on in the battle. Why were The Clan so timid thereafter? Always falling back. Perhaps it was to trap the French at the stronghold house lower right of the map? But the French simply and brilliantly overcame this by bringing up their cannon, cavalry and combining it all with a devastating bayonet charge. Then crushing The Clan in a massive pincer movement centre of the field. Brilliant. I still don't understand why The Clan, who as the name suggests know each other as players weren't more cohesive in battle. Why so passive as well? Possibly their weakness lay in their familiarity; unwilling to take the lead over their friends, I don't know. Whereas the randoms worked surprisingly well together towards a shared victory. I hope should these random players decide to form a team they won't suffer the same fate as The Clan and lose due to courtesy towards each other. Thanks both sides it was very entertaining and thanks as ever to Apollo.

Truly david vs Goliath and david wins! Its even historical themed with French vs Coalition! That makes it even more epic. You would think the clan would win but random players just completely dominated from start to finish. The clan did a few cool moves but it was nothing but a few nice exploitative charges and damage control. That's not enough to win a battle. That massive French cavalry charge was epic and definitely decided the battle. This is the quality content i subscribed for!

3:53 You might be able to download it on Netflix, otherwise DVD is your best bet. The epic Sharpe series is written by Bernard Cornwell, brilliantly portrayed by Sean Bean on TV version. Wondering if those Rifles will be ordered by Sean Bean's voice? That would be great! The TV series is a little dated now. Also, check out the fantastic Hornblower series starring Ioan Gruffudd, for a more oceanic experience of the French Wars (referring to both Revolutionary and Napoleonic periods). I love the battles between fleets but personally never been adapt at naval combat. Neither was Napoleon, oddly enough; he never understood sea warfare, desperate as he was to invade England in the early 1800's. The Battle of Trafalgar - contrary to popular belief - was fought months after Napoleon actually shelved his invasion plans as impractical. But the French did 'invade' in 1797...ultimately no more than a force of 1400 troops which surrendered after two days. Although somewhat farcical in its execution, It's nevertheless regarded as the last invasion by a foreign force. It was supposed to have been on a larger scale, a three-pronged attack involving 15,000 troops to land in Ireland while two smaller forces would set sail as a diversion: one for Newcastle, the other for Wales. However, atrocious weather at sea (isn't that always the case!) scuppered the invasion plans excepting the force bound for Wales. It's an interesting 'what if' of history. What If the entire invasion army managed to land? Interestingly, it was led by an Irish-American William Tate, commander of Legion Noire (The Black Legion), he had seen service against the British during the American Revolution.

They were randoms but they had 3 veteran players. The only player who wasn't a veteran was the guy fighting the Prussians and I say he did very good. The other 3 players were also talking on discord but hadn't met prior to that battle.

That bloody blow at the house was a trap card, that the sharpshooters can put down at the start of a battle (the red patch on the ground is the range of it) Otherwise, those french lads made tasty french fries from the Coalition troops, nice work
