It is 1811. A coup d’etat in the Confederation of Rhine has caused the many states that were part of it to declare independence from Napoleon and form a federal republic based on the United States. France has assembled the Grande Armee to crush this infernal rebellion and retake direct control over the Rhineland. However, Prussia has sent two armies to support the Confederates in their fight and Britain has sent an army as well, forming a large allied force opposing the Grande Armee in the Rhine.The French have also bribed Portugal to send an army across Spain (there was no Peninsular War in this timeline.) However, the Grande Armee is led by the great general Emperor Napoleon, whose presence was worth 40,000 men on any battlefield. Whoever wins this battle decides the fate of the Rhineland.

Rome Total War 1, remember to not change vegetation quality in the launcher if you plan on using the RS 3 Beta, but if you will only use RS 2.5 then go ahead and change anything.

Totally agree. But I guess, it's a typical Warhammer problem (at least for me). In my teens, I was a lot into Tabletop games for a time, but Warhammer to me always seemed to be over the top: It was interesting at the beginning, but - compared to LOTR tabletop e. g. - it was just too much fantasy-crazy stuff.

Yeah I know what you mean. As for me, I was never a fan of Warhammer universe. I respect the fact that a lot of people love it but for me it's a no. I was really pissed when CA first announced the Warhammer Total War. They were all like, it ain't gonna affect the historical titles etc. but we can see how that turn out :/

Exactly, there are so many more periods, which CA can explore and that are historical, still. Like the Great War Mod is fun, but here, the engine and the whole layout of the Total War Series reach their end, when abandoning army formations down to squads and platoons. Still, doing something like a remake of Rome: Total War can be good. I only know Rome II through gameplay videos, yet it doesn't catch me like the original did. Rome: Total War was THE game that brought me to the Total War Series, before that I only knew stuff like Age of Empires, Empire Earth and Stronghold (the last being a great game), but Rome: Total War was like a revelation to me, the absolute top of where you could go (and the absolute top were my shitty computer was able to go). I guess, the factors that make Napoleon: Total War so good is the actual historical accuracy (even heightened with the Total War 3 mod) and that it is not too far away from our own time.

MacGhriogair I once had a five hour long siege battle in Medieval 2. It was amazing. The Egyptians brought a grand bombard, and my Hungarian allies suicide charged it with heavy cav within the opening exchanges. It destroyed the front gatehouse before Hungary plowed into it. My Danes held every inch of ground, and the English bows cost the saracen attackers dearly. Then Poland arrived and whiped the floor with Turkey. 4v4, by the way. It was so... epic... mmmmmmmmmmmm...

The battles in NTW are not long at all. ^ The video uses Napoleonic 3 mod which makes battles 4 times longer than normal. Warhammer battles can be just as long using mods.

Yes the sound fix is simple, go to audio settings, and put the sound channels to 264, so you can have twice as many sounds as you can now!

Played my first battle on this mod today. I was Prussia attacking Saxony, with about 5k men on each side. The battle took nearly an hour and it could have gone either way up until the last ten minutes or so. And IT WAS AWESOME!!!! I missed long, pitched battles in total war games.

at waterloo he was very sick and marshall ney took the active command and Grouchy( with 33 000 men ) failed the order of napoleon to prevent blucher to join wellington after defeating him at battle of ligny... Furthermore, wellington played the battle very defensive. It's called corner camping lol. More seriously even wellington recognize napoleon to be the best general of al time. finally why he lost at the end ?? maybe cause he felt invincible after 40 won battle and mostly cause he had the oligarchy who still reign in europe financing every monarchy in europe to stop the french revolutions ideas... They paid russia, spain, portugal,sweden,england,prussia, austria, holland,etc. Nobody could have overcome such ods i believe. Of course he did some mistake but i think overall he did what he could.

he was quite evil actually. a great general, but nothing more. in politics he couldnt do shit. all his strenght was his army. no other means political power. and he really wasnt a fan of french revolutionary ideas cuz u know, he crowned himself emperor and all that. and like prussia and spain and especially england were not just paid of. they didn not nead any other reason than vengeance to fight against napoleon. the money was just to keep them cooperating and not start infighting. in terms of military wit, yeah he was great, but every period has new great generals every war new weapons, which changes the tactics and strategies, so you cant say "the best" he was one of the best, he is certainly up there in the hall of fame toghether with wellington, trafalgar, washington, hitler, cesar, alexander, a bunch of asian dudes and this one germanic guy who betrayed the romans and slaughtered 3 LEGIONS on the forest with a handfull barbarians.

sorry to read that !! man napoleon actually did better in law and civil organisation than in military . you heard about the napoleonic code or civil code? it's the base of law in entire europe and in asia and the american continent !!never since the roman empire europe had seen such a total and huge work about justice and juridictions and economy or education. it's sad to see that anglo saxon propaganda works even today. yeah he crowns himself emperor but didn't change the ideas of revolution but ended the terror and stabilised the french state after years of chaos. He actually secured the revolution against all the old monarchies. if he wasn't there you would never have heard of french revolution cause it would have been crush in the begining. he used referundums a lot and at the end gave up the power so france didn't see civil war while he could have use guerilla tactics. for the military, wellington and hitler or washington are really not in the same weight class ..... trafalgar is one battle and the hour of glory of arminius is the slaughter of three legion by treason.... he won more battles than alexander, caesar and hannibal reunited and was on the battlefield every time. i can go wrong but as far as i know only gengis khan, caesar and alexander are worthy of him

At 39.04 there is a Regiment called "Lippe". I am from this small region. never expected it to be in any game, defenetly not as a military force. After all Lippe was so poor nobody annexed it because it would have been a waste of money. Our "troops" were famous for taking so long to march to war, that when the Lipper arrived on the frontline, the war was long over :D

Epic back and forth and those cav charges are deadly. Do a life of a unit, 6th dragoon! You have to! They deserve a medal! At first Napoleon got his pincer but the British broke through his center and managed to around one of the pincers, separating the French forces. A classic counter to the pincer maneuver, isolate and defeat in detail. Brilliant game. Should let us watch France's final stand at the ruins.

The french hussards we see during the ambush at the beginning, the "brigade infernale" (infernal brigade) were a legendary cavalry unit during the Napoleonic Wars. Under the command of Antoine Lasalle, they managed to capture a prussian fortress defended by more than 5000 prussians and around 200 guns with 500 men. Beforehand, they had already managed to defeat the prince of Hohenloe. Fighting against the russians, Lasalle made them stay for 2 hours under the fire of their guns, because he believed they lacked discipline. Lasalle would however be killed at the end of the battle of Wagram, leading not his exhausted brigade but instead french cuirassiers.

You should have a 4v4 where one person has a General and a support based army while the other 3 players are a combination of infantry and calvary. For example player 1 would have Napoleon and several reserve units. While the other players would have the main force.
