I can’t stop being surprised how talkative Dutch people are 😄 compared to Russia, where people try to avoid small talk and even eye contact most often (in big cities at least), people in the Netherlands are always ready to make a couple of notes about your dog or the weather (even strangers) and ask how you are doing. It is very different from my culture, but it really helps to feel involved in the society 🧡 and practice my Dutch 😊

Missing my family and found this video. I'm first generation from Frish islands. Small talk is the last thing we want. If ur invited, warm hugs and kisses. Not invited, that's the small talk, to go away. Ppl don't talk about facial expressions related to speech. The dutch are known also for expression of opinion❤❤

I am continuously amazed at how fast and mumbled much of the Dutch is spoken. I imagine this is true of most languages, but in my experience, only Spanish compares to this speed when spoken between natives. I speak German (2nd language), so I know many words in Dutch...but trying to decipher them from these conversations is impossible.

I am from Taurus Mountains of Turkey and i do not know what is chit chat or small talk. We dont do that.Foreigners oftentimes accuse us of being sullen and boring. Although some people think that Mediterranean people are warm-blooded, this is a false generalization and as far as i can see, people of Nederlands is more out going and talkative than my community.

I was born ibn the Netherland but have lived most of my life in the US. When I went there on vacation I was told I speak the language well but with an American accent. When I watch these videos I think to my self that people sound like they are spitting as they speak. There are words that I don't know as they are more complex I did not attend school there.

Goed video.
