I was a hospice nurse for many years. Took care of every patient like they were my own family. Many nights, I would cry myself to sleep because each one of them took a little piece of me with them. I had to double check your name after reading that. Those words could've literally come from my mom, a hospice nurse for 35 years or so. I saw first hand what they do, and also saw the difference they make, as evidenced by the flowers and cards of appreciation often on our kitchen table, sent from the families. The only disagreement I have with you is those patients didn't each take a piece of you. They each ADDED a piece! Thank you for a life of service. I know hospice nurses get paid far less than they could in other areas of nursing.
