The flower at 5:06 os a blood root - if you cut the root (don't do that by the way), the sap will be red.

@@mollyroseoutdoors I live right next to the AT in central VIrginia and I work with a native plant group so if you show plants, I'll try to identify them.

Others would run from the trail and seek a hostel in town because of a storm warning, Madame Rose is just concerned about carrying a wet tent. This is the attitude needed to see Maine.

Storms on the AT are always problematic, trying to figure out the best way to cope with them. Always a good plan to have a nice meal before having to do hard hiking! So glad that you are feeling better this day!

Before I started following youtube AT hikers this year, I had no idea that the trail had such big elevation changes! For short little mtns! Incredible climbs, really. -Rocky Mtn hiker.

You seem to be doing great, Molly. Yes, you look like a happy, happy hiker today. I did a fair amount of backpacking in the Appalachians as a teenager in the 1970s. Here is my youthful attempt at composing a Haiku from way back when (certainly before ultra-light was a thing): A beast of burden, heavy loads over mountains--- summer backpacking And another more "positive" KZbin vlog version: A labor of love, heavy loads over mountains--- summer backpacking Happy trails!

Just curious, can you let your tent hang from bottom loops on your pack should it get wet? Heard that's how another hiker carries her tent all the time.

Isn't that the shelter with the spiders? Audrey on the AT (North ⭐️ Star) spent her first night in a shelter there in 2023, if I remember correctly. I could be wrong, I guess we'll see in your next video.

I liked the breakdown at the end of what you wanted to decide on. I assume your tired legs may have factored in with the stay at the shelter. How much further was it to town and wondering if it rains till noon the next day will you stay at the shelter till then. But will that allow enough time to make the town stay? questions questions..

Had similar discussions about the same weather sitting in the middle of the Smokey's. Popular topic. Spoiler - it did snow in the Smokey's.
