Lord, You alone are worthy of our praise! Thank you for warning us where we may place false hope and worship. Forgive us for the times we have taken our eyes off you or have been divided in our devotion. We ask that you give us the grace to worship you as you’ve asked, disassociate ourselves from anything that hinders our ability to wholeheartedly worship you and not give into the temptation to put any validity in any form of a false god including ouiji boards, terot cards, mediums, astrology, fortune tellers, even rabbits’ feet! We desire to serve you and you alone. 🙏🏻

Wow. What a blessing to start your journey with the Lord with the Bible explained. I’ve been a believer my entire life ( 40+ years) and I had never read the bible in its entirety because of how daunting it is. Now I feel like I knew the Father even more deeply even though a lifetime would not suffice to know Him. All this to say I’m Happy you’re a member of the Family.

Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, discerning, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand, revere & treasure both the Old & the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull & may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.

I found today to be so encouraging and uplifting, false Gods are just that, there is no need to fear them. There is only one true God. Superstition, therefore, is also false and I learned recently that when you say "touch wood" that is also superstition to a false God so I won't be using that again!

JESUS already said that not all who says “Lord Lord will be saved”. That alone tells me what `saints through out the ages and even JESUS said Himself that narrow is the way that leads tO eternal life; that FEW WILL BE SAVED. I believe with all my heart that Catholic people have a better chance of salvation because of the Sacraments that God instituted to help us. because living without the Holy Eucharist and Sacrament of Reconciliation, it is near impossible to be saved, unless you are ignorant with the heart of a Saint living in a cave , which is very rare for we are creature of wrath and concupiscence. No crying out to God with songs and false worship and the disdain for our Blessed Mother Mary will appease our Lord for we follow our own will and not His. I hope i said all this with charity for i love everyone becase we are all children of God.

As a Catholic, we do not idolize Mary or any of the saints, we do not ask them to have mercy on us or forgive our sins. We ask them to pray for us (as we journey though this life) many Christians ask others in this earthly realm to pray for us…

Thank you so much for talking about idols and false gods father Mike. I think that in their modern society we do have false gods. They are not the idols that the book of Baruch describes but I think about the celebrity culture. In fact worshiping famous people can be very dangerous if not more so. We need to worry about how we look at actors and actresses, athletes, famous singers etc. Are we dazzled by the amount of money in the lavish lifestyles that they have? I think many people are. There are some good celebrities out there but they’re not perfect. They have their struggles and I think this is a great way to make a connection.

An important reminder about why God is not found in things and we must not be superstitious. *** Isaiah Ch. 38 prayer (The Liturgy of the Hour) is beautiful. *** Baruch Ch.5 is very encouraging. Ch. 6. ** Letter from Jeremiah is right. Once the dish is broken, it is useless so are the idols and things of this world. Tempted to turn away from God, dazzled by idols, superstitious beliefs (being afraid of idols and giving power to idols or beliefs that are clearly not more powerful than God). This letter is what assures people about true God. Thus, it is so important to read Baruch Chapter 6. Those with Bibles having the book of Baruch missing are missing out on these important reminders and assurances! Thank you, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. God bless you and fellow listeners!

The Letter of Jeremiah , makes The Futility of Idols , crystal clear . It leaves no doubt , about the helplessness of idols, and the foolishness of worshipping false gods. Superstition is also shown as ridiculous false beliefs . 73 - The righteous person has an advantage over others ; He does not own any idols , and they can never make a fool of him.

You’re absolutely right. It’s the same idea. Isaiah 18:21-40 is the Passage you’re referring to. Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose for yourselves one bull and prepare it first, for you are many, and call upon the name of your god, but put no fire to it.” 26 And they took the bull that was given them, and they prepared it and called upon the name of Baal from morning until noon, saying, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no voice, and no one answered. And they limped around the altar that they had made. 27 And at noon Elijah mocked them, saying, “Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is musing, or he is relieving himself, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.” 28 And they cried aloud and cut themselves after their custom with swords and lances, until the blood gushed out upon them. 29 And as midday passed, they raved on until the time of the offering of the oblation, but there was no voice. No one answered; no one paid attention.

July 28, 2023 Do you have 45 seconds to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: The Prayer of St. Gertrude Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Type in 'Bible in a Year Day 132". When the search list comes up, there should be a thumb nail image of Fr. Mike in official mass robes. For some reason, days 132 through 164 (I think) are located on a different page. The look and feel of each podcast session will be different, but the daily readings and messages are just as you have listened to prior to day 132. I believe the channel with the 30+ sessions is actually called, 'Bible in a Year'.
