Gardening can be very overwhelming at first but it mostly does come down to trial and error. If you overthink it too much, it can take all the fun out. Just start small and as you get more comfortable, you can add more things on so that way you don’t get overwhelmed or discouraged! Seed starting is the hardest part because a lot of things can go wrong. I have a heating mat that I use to just help the seeds germinate, as soon as you seen any kind of sprout you can turn it off and remove it. It also helps to cover the seeds when they’re trying to germinate because it creates a greenhouse affect and helps them sprout as well. And supplemental lighting is recommended as well since seedlings require 14-16 hours of light a day. Good luck!

I’ve been gardening for 3yrs now, slowly learning more every year, I love using little containers or trays for germinating because sometimes in the case you plant seeds in the bed that don’t sprout you end up within empty spaces- but in the case of germinating inside you can plant them neatly later . They also germinate a little better inside a house/greenhouse- and it’s fun to watch them constantly too 😊

I learned if you plant any lettuce really closed together. Like sprinkle the seed in an area. Then you can cut what you want off the top and it will keep growing back. We love it this way. I have done it with gourmet mix, bib lettuce and arugula.

Hi Allison! I too am a new gardener. I tried lettuce two seasons ago, but planted it too late. If lettuce gets too warm it bolts. I didn’t get to eat any of my lettuce! I just had lettuce trees in my garden 😂 It seems like it is already pretty warm in Florida. Hopefully there is still some time for a lettuce harvest. I’ve found gardening is full of failures and mistakes, but there is something so wonderful about growing things! Good luck!!

Wild blueberries are so easy to find in mossy, boggy areas where I live in Newfoundland and Labrador. They aren't as big as cultivated blueberries but they are soooo delicious! August is blueberry picking season here and it is a very exciting thing! (It's still not super warm here yet...today was 14C and that was lovely for here this time of year.) There is even an outdoor annual event called the Blueberry Festival in August near where I live :)
@aileenbell67502 жыл бұрын
Gardening is learned through experience. A heat mat (see Amazon) will speed up your initial indoor germination process. In both the beds and indoors, make sure your seeds stay moist…bottom watering works great for indoor seeds. You have a fun journey ahead!!!

Blueberries muffins are my favorite muffin.. Those looked delicious! Lovely video... You need something to fight slugs and snails if you put your lettice in beds otherwise they will be eating within a few days (mine were last year, and my pumpkin flowers etc). You need nets for your kale.. Mine grew amazing last year and then were twice completely destroyed within 48hrs by cabbage white butterfly 🐛...so I have bought fine nets for this year to protect them from the butterflies laying their eggs. You can freeze some blueberries.. I do when I go picking.

Dont pressure yourself too much with the garden, :-). To speed germination, cover the pots with plastic wrap. This helps keep the seeds moist before they germinate. When you see the first signs of green, remove the plastic.

Omg is that at Southern Hill Farms!!?? I just went there 3 weekends ago and picked blueberries and strawberries. 🥰 They lasted FOREVER. I made myself yogurt breakfast bowls with them, and they were absolutely delicious. I got 4lbs of strawberries and 1lb of blueberries for $9.20. It was such a deal considering Publix charges $3.99 for a 1lb!! It’s a night and day difference between picking them fresh and getting them from the store.

The seeds that I recommend putting in separate pots and grow them inside for a while are tomatoes, chillies, peppers and watermelons. Everything else can go directly in the soil that you prepared outside in your garden.
