Lat year I tried to create a dod 3.1 server myself to play with my friends in LAN. Unfortunately we didnt even tried cause some of theme werent enable to come. Now that there are 2 active servers available we might give it a try at Saturdays night. Keep bringing more awesome dod content, it really cheers me up when I know that people still love the good old games.

I don't know why, but that in-game cutscene made me felt like as if I'm watching a Half Life mod. Probably because I'm too used to the fact that Valve prefers scripted sequences over cutscenes

So much Nostalgia. I was always bummed when they cut Para mode. Started playing DoD at 13 or 14 in 2001 during beta 1.1, I miss those days. The change from 1.3 to 2.0 was mind blowing. I remember being active on the forums and downloading so many cool custom models, sprites, and sound packs. Dod_Heutau ... My god, the memories.

there are few things in my life that will be as fun and exciting as that initial period when DoD switched to beta 2.0 with the more realistic weapon handling and recoil patterns. para mode was so cool. damn.

Played so much Day of Defeat in the pre-valve days from the first Beta. Early 2000s. It was so much fun. It hasn't aged well graphically but it always felt very pure as a gameplay experience. Hours of fun. Radar by Fuzzdad was part of a group of maps creating by a mapping community called iNvasionWorks. I spent many years hanging around in their forums. A lot of the DoD maps that came and went over the releases were created by those guys. As the DoD game became quite mainstream some of the magic seemed to get lost a bit like CS, and iNvasionWorks started working on their own WW2 game, Green Light. Sadly one day it all disappeared as so many projects at the time did. It was such an exciting time for indie devlopment of projects but we had no idea how rapidly everything would move and how vast and complex PC gaming would become. Thanks for the memories! Might try and pop in to the server one of these times.

That Day of Defeat Beta 2.0 trailer was created in October 2001, about a month after the attacks on September 11th 2001. It had already been uploaded years ago by another KZbinr Ryan K.

in regards to the tutorial, the shortcut says the directory of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\hl.exe -game dod31" is invalid and wont let me save it. is there any way to fix this? (this directory is ctrl + c directly from my shortcut)

To fix it you need a copy of DOD Beta 3.1. Unpack it and put in a folder with the name dod31. If you have WON Half-Life this folder should be in the same folder as "hl.exe". I am not sure about Steam-version but I guess it should work too.

I would really love to play Beta 3.1. Have you considered playing older versions? There are a few guys on KZbin who have got much older versions running with bots.

CS 1.6 requires Half-Life. So it should work.
