I don't know if this is news, but Ubisoft added Steam achievements to many Assassin's Creed games which is something people have wanted for many years now, a new precedent. Hopefully they add them for Far Cry games also

@@XxfieryfirexX I had to reinstall the games and launch them, it worked for Unity, Syndicate, Black Flag, Origins, Odyssey, Revelations. Presumably Valhalla, but I don't have it yet. Not every AC game has them, AC2, AC: Brotherhood, AC3 Remastered, Rogue, don't appear to have them, at least yet. I got a LOT of achievements today lol

@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 Not really. Nintendo used same name as part for the successor before: Super Nintendo, Game Boy Advance, 3DS. The reason why the Wii U failed is, because bad marketing and people thought its the same just stronger, or did not know what it is at all. The Switch brand is stronger than the Wii brand. And a Super Switch would be backwards compatible, so it makes even more sense to name it this way, to indicate a family of products that is compatible. Conclusion: The Wii U didn't fail because of the name, and Super Switch won't too, if marketed well.

I wish I was more excited about SteamOS and Proton on different devices. Like, it's incredible, but I already spend an ungodly amount of time just trying to get Windows to run my older Windows games. For things that aren't on GOG, that can be a real time-sink. I can only imagine it's exponentially harder when trying to get older windows games to run through Proton - and likely impossible in many cases. At least with Windows it's almost always POSSBILE, it just may take a few days of research.

Actually, it's kind of the opposite Because of the way Proton/Wine works it's support for older games is often times BETTER then a modern Windows environment and requires little tweaking

Weirdly, older Windows games usually run BETTER under Proton than they do under Windows. For example, 2002's Max Payne requires a whole bunch of third party fixes to work under modern Windows. On Linux via Proton, just install it and launch it. That's it.

it was the mods for me. without the amazing mod content, community, tools, utility, etc it ain't fee like pc gaming for me. idk if you can run those in proton because many mods run additional .exe in the background along with the game .exe itself.

It will be interesting to see how Nintendo approaches the generational jump this go-round. Sony boasted about how they believe in generations, and then started putting everything on PS4/5 - and then Xbox kept saying generations are dead, and almost immediately stopped supporting Xbox One hahaha.

Super happy you found that article, and I think I will one day buy an Intel B580. Been waiting on the used market to get an AMD RX7600 cause of power consumption and it's encoding capabilities. But, I think spending a little more on a new card with a little more power with similar to higher performance is really worth it. Of course, it will take me some time to get the budget to get the card(cause ofChristmas shopping this year). Plus, it might need a couple of months before I could game, record, etc. on my distros with it. Any new hardware will definitely need time before it gets working on Linux if at all. But, I truly believe the Intel B580 at $250 is going to be rapidly popular with the Linux community. So, support should show up sooner rather than later. Happy to see these videos. I'm SO excited to get Virtua Fighter 5 on PC finally. After Dead or Alive (Greatest 3D fighter ever, just ignore the bewbs nonsense) #5 had that little crossover with VF, I have gotten into the series. On another note, based on the trailer for VF6 (or w/e) it looks like they learned some lessons from DOA. I didn't see a ring at all, and someone was thrown through a wall. All we need now is a DOA 7.

According to SE, they don't want to touch FF6 (transforming it into a 3D Remake) after what happened to FF7 (even if some of the big heads inside would love to; it's a very loved game internally). They thought that it would be easy to make something good for the quick buck and ended with a hell of a work to deal, similar to the entire problem created with Episode XIII that ended in what we all know nowadays - Lightning triple release, games for mobiles, and XV instead of 3 action based games based on the initial idea related to the XV lore. One of the big heads inside SE recently event told in an interview that he was happy to see that the FF7Remake project finally is getting an end and doesn't want to deal with anything like that any soon. So yeah, the next big release related to remakes is probably Chrono Trigger, unless some random surprise appears, and it will follow Super Mario RPG concept (this was talked about when it was released): new graphics, still a very similar game, but may have a few new things here and there.

That Intel Arc model being near half of a 4070 Super is actually very nice and very hot news. Seeing that their price is dirty cheap (not even 300€ here; yes, it's that cheap), unless one is looking for something very specific from the top of the line, that's a crazy good budget solution for any gamer that can't spent a lot, but still wants a good machine to enjoy the latest releases. With the extra money saved you can even buy a new graphics card later, when the graphics card is outdated at 100% (it already starts a bit behind by being 1/2 of a 4070 Super, but the price:results ratio is amazing), and still have extras on the side for something else lmao This even leaves me more excited to see what the future Intel Arc cards will end being: real competition with NVIDIA/AMD (and AMD doesn't want to compete with the top of NVIDIA; already said that it's pointless and better to be the best mid-solution at an affordable price) or just cheaper better solutions. Either way it's already a big win for the gaming community.

I've only had one Linux handheld, the Anbernic-Arc and I was really turned off from the experience. It was like the software itself was the operating system, I couldn't just uninstall everything and do it myself. By contrast, I've had a bunch of Android based handhelds, and I've been really happy with them. I'm sure I need to give Linux another chance in that realm but boy did it leave a bad taste in my mouth.
