Incredible to think that the DC3 entered service in the 1930s, and here in 2021 the type is STILL earning its keep!! The DC3 holds the record for the aircraft with the longest unbroken service record in history!! Outstanding!! 😊👍

@@abdulwahidmdtahir3660 No reason why not? The DC3 just keeps on going and going!! Its estimated over 600 are still flying worldwide, with about half that number being flown for commercial purposes.

Makes me wonder why they didn't keep building that plane with refinement and upgrades. It's truly an incredible machine.

lived in the amazon region of Colombia for many years......DC 3 was our way in or out unless you wanted to chance a river . Sitting in fold down bucket seats, no pressurized cabins, no AC, I rode in and out of villages like this more times than I can remember...many of the runways were worse that the one in Vaupes. Not much has changed over the past 30 plus years. It was a marvelous experience flying over a sea of green rain forest, rivers and the Andes

In Vietnam my Sargent and I had to fly out to a remote site to repair some nav equipment. Our ride was in a DC 3 or C47 is the military designation. The pilot circled the jungle about 3 to 5000 feet up to make sure no attack was in progress. When he was satisfied it was safe he made a very rapid decent down to the runway I couldn’t see until we were pretty close. As soon as they got stopped we were nearly dragged off the plane with our tools and the made a rapid departure. They circled overhead until we got done and they came and picked us up. The two Air Force pilots really knew their stuff flying that old beauty!

This pilot flying skill is flying. He knows his plane. He flies through the touch and feel and noise of the plane. He is at one with his plane. Completely different from the pilot of a modern day fly by wire plane. The feeling of the hydraulic systems is not there. The feel of his engines noise and vibration is not there. It not that one is better than another. It’s just one is completely different than the other. It’s not apples to apples. But I prefer the latter! I’ll fly with that Dakota DC3 pilot anywhere!
