Hi, keep the time frame in mind guys. Mirage 2000C were delivered from mid 80’ to early 90’. During Desert Storm in 1991 F/A-18 Hornet and F-15C Eagle we’re fighting with AIM-7M. From 1997 top French air defence fighter was Mirage 2000-5F with Mica Fox 3 missiles. DCS World Hornet is post 2005. Add to that Mirage 2000 is a NATO fighter, not supposed to fight Hornet and Eagle. And the engine isn’t that big. It’s a small fighter. The engine was designed for twin engine Mirage 4000, twice as big. The engine was optimised for high altitude supersonic flight.

Beanbag Ninja Caucasus campaign comes free with the module. There is additional payware Nevada Red Flag campaign, and planned payware Persian Gulf campaign. All three campaign are follow on stories with the same characters and a lot of recorded voices.

Those French jets do indeed have different sounds, I can easily tell from hearing if it's a SU 30 or a Rafale/Mirage, also, don't know about in cockpit sound, but from the outside in real life, the Mirage is a quiet jet when compared to a Rafale, Rafale passing over my house is almost as loud as a chainsaw a few metres away

You may have been quite impressed with the Blue Angels' days in the F-4 Phantom......... 6 planes, two engines each is 12 MONSTERS :) In grades 1-3 (1963-1966) at the Naval Academy Primary School we held graduation day that included the annual Blue Angels show for "June Week", the traditional week-long activity around the Naval Academy graduation. When all 6 F-4's "put the pedal to the metal" (afterburner) for their climb to 15,000 ft the ground was shaking. There was nothing polite nor dainty about the F-4's engines; they emitted sustained thunder. I'd love to hear the Rafale.

I adore this plane. Missiles underperform what they should, esp the Magic II. Take a look at some tacviews of it compared to AIM9M. Drag is way too high. On the other elements of the plane... its freaking amazing. It is absolutely dominant in WVR in skilled hands.

They could have finish the mirage then move to harrier then release the next one. They now have to finish already delivered aircrafts and they have many project under development at the same time. Thats not good planning. But in the end we will get all of them is just the matter of when ! XD

Still my fave module in DCS, no I have not flown my F18 yet but I know what to expect with that one. Excellent overall and I agree one of the easier aircraft to learn and be successful with. I got lucky and won my copy from MagzTV's giveaway he had a few years back so yay for that. Love your content and would enjoy flying with or against you guys some day.

The great thing about the developer and this module is that it has constantly been worked on constantly. They have partnered with a mirage unit and have laser scanned more recent flight suits helmets even seat harnesses. A major upgrade to systems inc how the radar works is in development.. we can only hope for some extended capabilities in the future

There won't be any extended capabilities with the 2000-C. It is the first version of Mirage 2000, equivalent to F16A and F18A.

@@krostouin well it seems that isnt the case and its finally been confirmed... there will be a -5 variant being produced under the supervision of the squadron they have been working with... so you never know what there will be in that as some of the upgraded c variants had an upgraded radar that allowed the use of the exocet anti ship missiles...and some other stuff deployable on export versions with that variants tech... fingers crossed

@@OldManCoops Greece still operates the Mirage 2000EGM(the C variant) alongside 2000-5mk2 for the simple reason of the exocet antiship misile they can cary. The greek Mirages were upgraded with that antiship capability. So it would be realistic and awesome for the DCS module to include the exocet upgrade.

I just tried this jet in the free trial yesterday and so far I really like it. Limited for sure, but cruising around at mach 2 around 55,000Ft is pretty dang cool.

You do provide your context (competetive, set matches) on why you think the Mirage is inferior in A2A but I think it's important to note that if you instead fly in a dynamic PvP environment it can more than hold it's own. Once it gets within weapons range it's very lethal! It's a great dogfighter! But you do need to get there, although i would argue such a dynamic PvP environment provides plenty of opportunities to do so. EDIT: Also! It might be worthwhile mentioning some mods in general, the Mirage has a great a mod which makes the cockpit less dark and clearer imo, it's very easy to install and imo a straight upgrade. The only reason you wouldn't want it is if you really want to force realism, I guess. But then again, your eyes would adjust a lot better in the cockpit IRL I think.

I started this game i. The ajs-37 viggen. Now im learning the f-5 for carrier ops and the m-2000 for high speed air combat i selected the mirage due to the very simular system to the viggen and fell in love with it.

This is one of the few modules I didn’t have , I just tried it on the free month. Yes, it lacks a lot of functionality etc. What people don’t tell you enough about is the SPEED - It’s unbelievable, this thing zoom climbs like nothing else. I’ve bought it purely so I can fly slick ripping around canyons.

Just adding this, Could you average out the results in your spreadsheet? Since they are wildly different and the scores are anecdotal, a single grade would be awesome. For instance, im hoping to get one of the 30 dollar planes during this sale. A standardized score would help people in my situation for example.

Maybe it didn't at the time, but it does have decently bright green floodlights lighting up the panels in the cockpit. Some say it looks dark, but not if you dial up the green lights. For me, the cockpit and the handling reminds me something of like an 80's Corvette. The black panels with the pale red backlighting, it has that sporty 80's vibe. As far as the fly-by-wire - I like it. I handles smooth. It's like a modern car with good power steering. That's what I think when I steer it through the sky. Just hold the rudder and see how smooth it turns and you'll know what I mean. It's a real joy to fly this little plane.

On one of my first flights on the M 2000 I brought it up to 35k feet.pushed the full throtle hit mach 2.35 then pushed it down a little At 2.6 + mach the wings flew off :)

I’ve had the Mirage for about a year or 2. But I bought it at the same time as the Harrier. Haven’t learned it yet. The Hornet has taken priority lately, followed by the F-14....then when the Viper comes out it will likely take over as it is my main (BMS) followed closely by F18 and then F14. I thought I’d get a stretch of time to fly all the other neglected modules in my library like the Mirage, P-51, and Spitfire, but theirs just so many sought after aircraft that’s come out over the last year that it’s made it impossible.

I can see your point about how the sound model relates to us virtual pilots however I prefer to be a little more realistic. You would be wearing a helmet which would drastically reduce your perceived sound levels. Also, on the AoA, the result of high AoA is buffeting which is a more visual than auditory experience. Yes there would be a fair amount of sound from the flow separation but the visuals from the buffeting would be much more apparent. As always, just my 2 cents worth. Keep up the good work!

Great review never really got into the m-2000 but I do love the bird ,it is in my opinion that the capability is lacking As it can only do limited cas or air-air but it is a great aircraft if you want to get into the high fidelity model as it can do almost enything just when it does something it doesn’t do it as good as other aircraft can

My 5c worth. Good review and highlights the good and not so good well. I know most players use head tracking for DCS. There is however another element setting these aircraft apart from the next. In my opinion playing DCS with a quality VR headset is the ultimate experience. With some real world flight experience (not the mirage 2000 though) I can tell you this mirage 2000 somehow creates the best feeling of realism and immersion not matched nearly by, for example one of the most popular aircraft in DCS, the F18. So yea I absolutely love flying the M2000 in VR.

i wish i had a better vr headset, only have the first generation vive and it's too heavy/uncomfortable for long sessions and the lower resolution makes it hard to read instruments and see other planes in the game world. trackIR does basically what i want also i have the advantage of being able to read manuals and guides while i'm learning planes

To answer your 16:30 question: Every jet engine with or without an afterburner have a choked flow by an convergergent-divergent nozzle. In both cases you have the same mass flow rate, the same stagnation pressure (at the afterburner flameholder) and the same exit pressure (atmospheric-ish). The only difference is the increased temperature in the afterburning case, this relates to increased exit velocity at the exit. Now, Mass flow rate equals choke Area times the Density times the Velocity. When you solve the Area for the new Velocity due to increased temperature you will find a bigger value. So, the SNECMA M53-P2, a small engine with a big big afterburner, hence a biiig exit area. At low speeds a delta wing needs to have a high AoA in order to have any lift. High AoA creates a large low pressure vortex over the wing, lots of lift but high drag so mo' powa'...

Snecma M53 is not a small engine in terms of size and weight. It is on par with PW F100, 1515 kg vs 1467 kg. But it has a very low compression ratio, 9.8 vs 25 in PW F100. Thus the nozzle can not chock very hard and must have a large diameter to let the low pressure gas leave. In non-afterburning situation a hard chocking nozzle is desirable to efficiently turn the heat into exhaust velocity.

Since it does not have an autothrottle - the FBW have some limitations. Dropping down speed, and at high alpha, the delta wing produces extremely much drag. It is almost impossible to get out a stall, (fighting both gravity and drag) even with full AB. In general, you should be aware of suddenly increase in drag with the delta wing design. Great aircraft . Second to F14 as my favorite.

The speed and altitude of this fighter are amazing !!!! I reach: Mach 2.3 at 55 000 ft Mach 2.2 at 60 000 ft Mach 2.15 at 65 000 ft And a zoom climb up to 105 000 ft after an acceleration at Mach 2.3 at 40 000 ft 2 problems thought: Above Mach 2.3, the wing is rip off at any altitude (even at 55 000 ft) and above 65/66 000 ft, the engine stop working !!!!!

Got into it and instantly thought "the cockpit look different", those glasses weren't over the fuel gauge and weapon panel before, new buttons left and OMG there is a rack for nvg (in this order). Still 2 dark but it look a lot better and it is good when u can see that the older modules get some attention as well

great video, but in fact you can deactivate the FBW of the mirage 200 you just need to move the switch on the middle of the cockpit form the “normal” position to the “virile” one and voila, you have no FBW (at least that what I was told ). But without that the plane is kind of impossible to control at least the small amount that I tried it. Like you just tap your joystick to the left and you are already rolling over.

thats an emergency setting for a very specific flight envelope (noted on the lower cockpit glass right above it) for if your main FBW computer fails for some reason. it will murder you unless you're slow and low and very delicate. its a limp mode to get back home, maneuvering will kill you.

I hope they will finish this module someday... the Mirage Module has left the early access... but is is pretty much unfinished, there is still a lot of work to be done on that module and a lot of small bugs to correct. I would say that for the price, it is still a good plane and is allready fun as it is, but it sould be still considered early access in my opinion... but Razbam seems more interested in creating (and selling) a lot of new stuff, and the Harrier and particulary the Mirage seems left unfinished !

PRO TIP @39:10 If you use the APP mode during landing you shouldn't need that drag chute. Carry the extra counter measures instead.

i really like my Mirage ! Our Luftwaffe should had buy these instead of this Starfighter widowmaker! still a bit old to these two new F18 and F18 but very nice design and capable in dogfight. What i not like is the cockpit view on my 34" monitor. Hopefuly a targeting pod will come ! And the anti ship weapon from the french; isnt it called Exocet and sunk at least 1 bitish ship in Falkland war ? I agree they better had modelled the Mirage Rafale.

No, it's because it's an RDI model, the second radar put into 2000C's. They removed the ground modes in order to optimize the radar for A2A, so the RDI Mirages lost some A2G capability vs earlier Mirages. This wasn't considered a problem because Dassault had also introduced the A2G focused Mirage 2000D.

In DCS World we can fly 2000C version. Exocet can be carried only by Mirage 2000EG or 2000-5.

Love the plane, major downside is the poor missile capacity. 2+2 mediocre (at best ) missiles just won't do, even in single player. Kinda forced to use unlimited ammo in SP unless you are willing to do many tries just because the missiles didn't behave.

Love this module, the only thing is that it doesnt have fox3 missiles a shame realy because I think its the best dogfighter, insane AoA, you can put the nose wherever you want it to be as long as you have altitude. Its great at ending fights fast, that first 1 circle is pretty much always yours, even better than the Flankers realy, the delta wing is too good.

HGGS Hornet No, they changed some of the HOTAS and PCA Logic to get closer to the real thing. Go to ED forum in M-2000C topic to find appropriate information on how to use it 😉
