In this video we take the Pakistani Jf-17 thunder out to fight the Indian Mirage 2000C in a simulated fox 2 dogfight over Kashmir. The 2 aircraft seem to be pretty well matched and proves to be an interesting few dogfights.
This Video was made using the simulator, DCS, or Digital Combat Simulator and is one of the premier Flight Combat Simulators available on the market today. Always expanding and getting better and adding new modules and terrains/maps for everyone to enjoy, not to mention no shortage of sales so you can pick up planes for very cheap from time to time. Defiantly worth checking out some of the best modules in the game, from the F-16 Viper to the F-18 Hornet The F-14 Tomcat, to the Mirage the JF-17 Thunder all the way back to world war 2 planes and even Korean war Mig-15s and F-86 Sabres. All around one of the greatest Flight Simulator experiences around.

There was a upgrade or more truth would have been a new build for the F14 that Congress rejected over the F18E and F models. It was called Attack F21 Super Tomcats. This would have given a completely new Hud, Radar system, and engines. The Engines where the same ones that F23 and F22 have with thrust vectoring. The Radar was the APG-71, all new Fly-by-wire Controls. All new front windscreen to give a more 4th gen or 5th gen open front view. And larger wings. It would have had more fuel capacity and a super Cruise of mach 2.0. If someone could mod the Attack Super Tomcat F21 would be awesome.

@@GrowlingSidewinder Yeah, I noticed that touch at the beginning G/S. I have both series on DVD but they're on NTSC (USA) not PAL (UK/Europe). Watched them all on the History Channel about 20 years ago. They were superb - but it's a shame because they were kind of one-sided, mainly interviewing US and Israeli pilots. It would have been good if they interviewed Axis, Warsaw pact or Arab pilots to get their input - much in the same way you sit in their aircraft to see how things work out. Great video, by the way.

Hey GS regarding countermeasure programms in the mirage, turn the knob to program 5. It's one chaff and one flare at the same time and you can pump them out in quick succession just as you would in any other jet. I'm totally speculating but I assume you're using the PANIC sequence wich as you saw isn't really adapted to this specific scenario.

Proven but aging design. Once Rafale and Tejas have finished replacing MiG-21s and Jaguars, The winner of MMRCA will replace the Mirage. Maybe the F/A-18, maybe more Rafale. Maybe even the F-15EX as Boeing is interested in offering it. If they are still kept in service, considering the depleted squadrons, the LCA 2 (MWF) will surely replace them.

From what I could see the difference was in the missiles, the JF-17 is newer than the Mirage 2000C and is probably using more modern missiles while the Mirage is stuck with the Magic from the 80s, if this fight was between the JF-17 and the Mirage 2000-5 with MICAs it would end alot quicker. Great video BTW.

PL5 is very similar to AIM9L which is basically the same age as magic. It is also basically the same as other AIM9 in DCS. The newer one is PL8(De4).

You don't have to depend on the program at all in the Mirage 2000C, Growly. The command you're looking for is Decoy PANIC release. It will drop chaff and flares as fast as you can slap it.

In Reality Mirage 2000 is deadly because of its MICA missile in short to medium range but JF-17 have edge in BVR battles. it can force the mirage in defensive position before it can fire anything. It was also proven on 27th Feb 2019, when Indian Mirage 2000 did not even dare to come close to Pakistani jets when their 1 SU-30 and Mig-21 got shot down.

In a different DCS video, it was shown that mirage 2000 had better turn rate and chance of surviving in a gun-fight - but its proven false here. JF-17 does match Mirage 2000 in turn rate will beat it equal times. Mirage 2000 may have an advantage at very slow speeds.

Fox 2's are very luck-based. If you want to test the kinematic advantage/disadvantage of two airframes, a gunfight gives you much better idea of what advantages one has over the other and vice versa as it forces both pilots to work much harder for the winning position.

Really nice and interesting video! I'm not used to seeing you catch that many missiles. I would be interesting to see you in a guns only fight with the same setup :-) I tried the Mirage a few weeks back when it was free for two days. Same with the JF though just a quick sortie in that. Will try them both more now when they are free for a month.
