@@BogeyDope have you noticed that when you switch the FCR to TWS it will not save that setting anymore? Keeps switch back to RWS when you switch between the various modes: Happens in Missile Override and in Nav as well as AA. You used to be able to set up all your screens so when I had Air to ground mode up I could just switch to missile override and my TWS would be ready to go, I didn’t need hold TMS right long to enter TWS every time. I didn’t notice any changes on the change log that mentioned this going back 5 or 6 updates. The Viper always saved your last setup in the MPD. 2B A3 scan in TWS for example in missile override mode should always keep those setting even if I switch to air to ground and back.

The pilot model stuff is great : ) I think the reason they decided not to simulate the visor tint was because a lot of people are going to have it down most of the time for JHMCS. It would be irritating having your screen tinted constantly. Would be nice as a setting in special options though

The JDAMs still need corrected, Wags said they would refine it in the June Update. But the M904/905 being incompatible with JDAMs and the short conical being the default plug unless using the DSU-33.

Very good video - thank you. What I have to add is the fact that ED screwed up parts of the multicrew functionality of the Apache. This really sucks. Data on the MFD‘s like Waypoints and Target Points cannot be seen by PLT if the CPG enters them and the other way around. Weapons in desync, acquisition source in desync, video drastically in desync. This really sucks, getting an update where things get worse and ED even stating this in the patch notes. I always thought the idea of eliminating the beta-version of DCS is getting more quality released. But in this case they failed.

That's exactly what I expected with this changed update policy. I assume we will see alot of broken things in the future. The quality control is completely out of hand. Now they can't label and excuse it any more with Open Beta, they go with the label WIP - work in progress. So semi finished and maybe not working... What a relief.

This changes nothing, the "stable" version was not a different build but just a delay on OB updates and all the same bugs were present. That is why the community had no reason to use it. This represents how much there is a lack of testing, and the fact they release to much EA modules with a poor bug tracking and management

Bogey no matter how many times I watch your videos, It reminds me why I absolutely fell in love with the F-16, she’s such a speed demon and a devil in a dogfight. On a bomber interception mission, jumped by two MiG-21s. Was easily able to switch into ACM mode, bore sight the first and get a 120 on him, reversed my turn and within 20 seconds down went the second. All because of your videos taught me how to fly and fight in the Viper.

Regarding the G-warm maneuver. 1) Doing a G-warm does not confer an ability to sustain 9G. It is used to allow the aircrew to assess their capacity to handle G at a lower level before potentially engaging in full G maneuvers. For example, Joe USAF pilot can easily handle 9.2 G, day in, day out. However, he goes out with his buddies the night before and has a few beers. His G tolerance may be reduced because of the affect of alcohol on his body. (This is NOT to say he still has alcohol in his system, just that the after affects can linger many hours after one can blow a 0.0.) 2) The game's ability to black a person out who is an experienced aviator is WAY overdone. A trained and experienced pilot can sustain 9G almost indefinitely. One can be in sustained and repeated 9G dogfights and be just as on step in the last minute as the first fight 20 minutes prior. I know this firsthand. I also flew with a Skipper (Navy) who flew with his G suit unplugged every flight and he never had a problem with G. For me personally, I leave the G off in DCS because it is not realistic at all. Your mileage may vary.

These little nuggets of info from real world fighter pilots are invaluable for those of us who love sims! As a private pilot who wanted to be a fighter pilot since childhood (but decided not to join the military after high school), DCS in VR is the next best thing 😂 Glad to see I'm not the only one who turned off the G setting a long time ago, lol. Makes you wonder why such bugs and inaccuracies are taking forever to get addressed? I'm speaking as someone who has been with DCS from before inception (Flanker and Lomac days). @@redtailpilot It is a small thing. It is interesting to me how much focus gets put on certain things at the expense of others. For instance, there is no provision in DCS for arming or weapons checks on deck by ground crew. These happen every flight carrying ordnance, but they are not even in the game. Little things. G-warm is part of every air to air training flight. It was NOT part of combat missions I flew. That is not to say it is not policy for the USAF, but it is not (was not during my time on active duty) for the Navy. One man's experience. DCS is a great game and a reasonable "sim" for those who never wore the "speed jeans". It is nice to be able to "fly" jets I used to and not have to sit through an hour brief and put on 35 pounds of gear just to walk to the jet. - Richrach

One thing that has bugged my head for years is the fact that it rains inside aircraft shelters..haha. I love the hell out of DCS though. It's practically the only thing I do whenever I have a little free time (occasionally MSFS). So much that I've poured thousands of dollars into hardware for it, including VR headsets and recently a 6DOF motion rig!

@@redtailpilot Okay. More trivia for you. Shelters in the Middle East have rain inside them, due to poor contractors and building techniques. 6DOF, eh? In the TACAIR world (Navy) about 15-20% of pilots would get motion sickness in the simulators at some point in their careers. This usually happened when a flyer had between 750-1100 hours. After that much time the memory circuits in the brain know what sensations go with what maneuvers. When the actual motion (6DOF) combines with a visual that does not match up in intensity and direction in the inner ear, some pilots would get sick from the disparity. Some communities have begun moving away from the motion side of things and are going to visual only.

Let me get off of ED's case then. 🤣 Yeah I read something about the move away from motion in some real world training. I can imagine how it could become a problem in certain situations if it doesn't replicate the real world experience 100%. For me as a gamer, the combination of motion AND VR is very rewarding! Probably moreso than it would be for an advanced military or aerobatics aviator such as yourself. Some of the little things like gear extension, feeling the runway on touchdown, guns firing (to name a few), really adds to the experience. I also notice that when it comes to motion in the sim, LESS is MORE. I took a few basic aerobatics lessons when I got my tailwheel endoresment, several years ago. That was fun, educational and amazing! If I recall correctly, we pulled around 6 or 7 Gs max. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I haven't been able to take that aerobatics course any further. Love these patch review videos, BD! Quick question: how do you quickly switch from FPV (F1) to those in-cockpit views looking at the pilot's helmet or over their shoulder looking forward? Is this a special F2 view you have saved to a shortcut?

He's using left control or shift F2 (can't remember) It saves the last place you place the camera, and then he's combining that with the F4 view, which also saves the last place. He probably then swaps between the two. F2 for say front, and F4 for the behind the pilot view.
