Ordered an Beelink SER6 with an 7735hs. What do you think about it? Was the UM773 lite the better option? I saw it had DDR5 heat throtteling issues so i went for the Beelink as it didnt. I bought it without memory and SSD. What do you think about 2x16GB 5600/C40 Kingston Fury Impact? They are still 1.1V and SPD. Thanks for your videos!

I clicked on your video because i am thinking of buying the UM690S as a secondary system just for media as well as playing less demanding games that i won and the system comes with 32gb of memory already but clocked at 4800MHz and really was thinking of overclocking the memory to 5200MHz just to get a little extra performance boost. Also one other reason why i was looking at that system was because in the front it has USB4 so in the future if the CPU is still considered great and my main system ends up being weaker i could always hook up an external GPU to the mini system and have a system better than my main system.

@@huseyinates1367 I bought the system a month after this comment which i replaced the memory with 5600MT/s instead of overclocking it and i also replaced the NVMe with another one that i have which the included NVMe is a Kingston NV2 which is pretty fast but not that great. I also installed a 1TB 2.5" SSD and i have Bazzite installed which for gaming it is amazing and smooth which now i am thinking of getting a eGPU dock and a RX 6650 XT to be able to play more demanding games on the system since when using Bazzite i have the resolution set for 1080p so for games like Horizon Forbidden West/Zero Dawn i would be able to play on a higher setting and i would also be able to play the up coming God of War game as well.

I actually have a laptop with this chip and I just wanted to know what speeds should be supported. I know gaming benchmarks are not that representative for me as I have a DGPU but this is still a really good video!

Anyone with UM690 who noticed that under heavy GPU load, the RAM easily reaches 80C after 3-5 minutes and heavily throttles resulting in a large FPS drop? I am with the 32GB @ 4800 bundled with the PC.

Hello Ivan, The factory fan settings are not great, try to tune them in the bios. even notebooks with the same gpu/or d-gpu make more noise so if you wan't to keep the full performance on the um690 you need to tweak the fan settings.

@@toetjenl6222 The fans works perfectly well cooling the front side of the unit. The issue is on the backside where the RAM is located as there are no fans and no any holes for fresh air.

@@injurera I stopped the ram thothling by changing the fan speeds, perhaps less hot air gets to the ram. Alternative you might like to 3d print a new cover.

@@toetjenl6222 Thanks for the suggestion, although the fan doesn't help in my case as the RAM is located at the opposite side. A 3D printed cover is a solution, but I still believe it is something the manifacturer should do, and replace free of charge any existing covers. For now I just leave it open.

How did you manage to achieve 5800 with 1.1 volts memory. Is it because of hx processor? Because on beelink ser8 (8845hs) it doesn't allow to go upper then 5600

Can you show how to dual boot on UM690 as I have one but can't get it to dual boot? Bios doesn't show the script when trying to install AndroidTV when booting from USB it just shows black screen? I use Windows 11 Pro as main operating system.

It seems when you use two 64GB (2x32GB) ddr5 5600 ram on Asus rog G614jv 2023 it undervolt the rams to 5200. So, I'm a little confused about upgrading my laptop with 4800mhz or 5600mhz rams because the reviews show there isn't a lot of different between them and 4800 has more purchase value. Do I take right decision?

My laptop has 16gb cl40 4800 ram, Amazon has open box 32gb cl40 5600 ram for $90. I’m really debating if it is worth it. My unit is a 7940hs + 7700s. Would you expect a 10% increase in fps going from 4800 to 5600 all else the same?

It's very hard to find hynix m-die or a-die chiplets in sodimm 4800mhz ddr5. I think, this is most important factor about memory overclocking. I've seen people in bilibili, reaching 6600mhz in a um690, but it's chinese language and i can't identify which models are using. Could anyone help with this?

you mention very briefly to verify that the bios is unlocked. i just received my um690 fresh from manufacturer. but cant set the memory clock speed to 5600. i imagine this is an issue with locking. any suggestions how i can unlock this. google searches are not yielding good results

I would suggest reaching out to minisforum directly. It's likely a bios update that has locked it down. Perhaps they have an unlocked bios version they could provide to you to flash? Let me know how you go.

It really just depends on stability. I had trouble getting more than an additional +200mhz on the faster Ram. An oc will get you more performance but buying faster ram yields better results. I suspect it's due to the way an OC may have an effect on ram timings

@@dl1673 thanks for the inputs, I'm thinking of going for faster ram (while avoiding the variable of OCing the ram) as well in the future. I'm assuming that 680m would benefit at a max of 6000mhz or 6400mhz while 780m at 7600mhz or 8000mhz. I still don't know how this plays out since DDR5 is new and I just came back recently to PC as I'm planning to buy a newer laptop to upgrade from my old college notebook.

Yeah on beelink ser8 it doesn't allow to go upper than memory limit ie 5600. Did you maybe find the workaround?

Definitely the um690. I would actually go the um773 which is about the same performance but cheaper.

I have installed Crucial 2*16 5600 in my UM690. When I upped the memory speed in the bike to 5600 within minutes of normal use i was getting green screen. Since lowering it to 5400 no issues at all so far.

A=Something interesting to report - my UM690S is able to run Crucial's variable speed memory (advertised as supporting 4800, 5200, and 5600MT configs) at 5200MT stably, but when set to 5600MT is, A) still reports in Windows as 5200MT and B) the Radeon driver suite crashes. Haven't tried running anything faster than 5600MT on my UM790Pro, but have a 690Pro enroute...we shall see. Thinking about a Kingston Fury 6000MT 64GB kit for the 790Pro and move that one's 48GB kit into the 690Pro...

The uma frame buffer can be set to 8gb. It shares your ram to act as memory for your graphics, so it's similar to increasing vram.

Depending how much RAM you have it will show up in the bios more that 2GB vram. 8gb is 2, 16 is 4 and 32 will allow 8GB vram sharing
