FeeFos points about impact are spot on. People simply relate, remember, recite, and imitate more of Kendricks's works than Lupe's.

@superdupeninja8149 Simply, Lupe is a very incredible writer and lyricist, he creates deep complex rhymes that you have to peel away layers to get multiple meanings. Kendricks's style is very creative but nowhere as complex as Lupe's. I gravitate toward the high-level lyricism but most people just want to vibe and not think so much. Kendrick is better in that area. Imo

@@massadonking even people who would like that in theory aren’t trying to hear that shit of it sounds corny. Lupe is kind of corny. Complex and layered and all that yes but ONLY his fanbase and people who really value that are listening for super duper deep rhymes, brah. Generally, people delve into lyrics that have deeper meaning than on the surface yet lupe and other rappers like that do the MOST and at some point it’s trying too hard in my opinion.

38:23 - 48:10 Feefo cooked here. He made a SIMPLE point, Lupe hasn't been able to cross over & achive the impact, appeal to the level of Kendrick. And the rest of the panel were arguing with points Feefo didnt say. He didnt disrespect Lupe's skill or quality. Feefo acknowledged & praised it. Lupe wants the recognition Kendrick gets... And like Feefo said, "if he hasn't done it, then why COULD he do it (now)"

These guys are just old lol Feefo is the youngest one so he gets it. Beezy always trynna be nostalgic and blow shit out of proportion. Food and Liquor is a classic but it never was close to GKMC’s impact mainstream wise or even in the overall landscape of hip hop. A conscious, concept west coast album being one of the highest and longest billbord charting rap albums of all time is just a demonstration of what Kendrick was able to do with Lupe’s conscious style. As a huge Lupe fan, we have to just acknowledge what's plainly in front of us. He's a contrarian and he can't resist going against the grain even if he's wrong. And it's obviously rooted in some form of jealousy because Lupe's career never reached the height it was supposed to because of lasers. Regardless of whose fault it was, the label or his own, at the end of the day he made the album, and that album was not well received for being too poppy. Kendrick is the better overall artist but we should also acknowledge that he had the creative freedom from tde to develop his albums the way he wanted to

Lupe is a GOAT for sure, but to the point of Feefo, he doesn't and likely never will have the impact that a Kendrick has had up to this point. Not that numbers and accolades are everything, but looking at the awards (Grammys, etc.), numbers, and cross cultural acknowledgements (Pulitzer Prize, quoted, and featured by some of the biggest figures in the world, such as presidents, the biggest pop stars, international sports figures) Kendrick has received, it's just not comparable. Now that doesn't speak to one-to-one rap ability, but there is a conversation to be had in that Lupe does seem to have wanted to some of what Kendrick has. We can't ignore that Lupe has made full albums (Drogas Light, LASERS) dedicated to trying to make purposefully mainstream sounding songs with messages, and it would just be a lie at this point to say that he has shown the ability to do so at the pop appeal level that Kendrick is able to do it at. Like, making the argument that he "could", just because on paper he seems like he would be able to do something comparable is just an argument not rooted in evidence. A lot of people "could" do things on paper, but given Lupe's discography and age, I think it's safe to say by now that he actually probably can't. And that, it seems like, is the thorn in Lupe's side when it comes to Kendrick because when it comes to the meeting of the worlds of pop appeal and consciousness in hip hop, Lupe never got to be the guy in the same way that Kendrick is cemented, even though to Rod's point, people like him opened the path for people like Kendrick.

We all know that Lupe was an inspiration to Kendrick. He raps on Lupe's "dumb it down" beat in one of the early mixtapes. The mature thing for lupe to do would have been to support kdot's success and compete with him if he wanted to musically. The way Lupe's been trying to downplay his skill and talent for years comes off as out of touch and bitter. I guess sometimes it's hard to appreciate your peers until you take a step back and let go of the resentment.

Lupe is bitter and hides behind the occasional compliment. He absolutely hates and envy’s Kendrick because he feels that should’ve been him. Lupe is a phenomenal lyricist but he treats it like Maths, as opposed to art. His music lacks the heart and soul to really connect to people in the way Kendrick does. And in terms of writing songs, Kendrick is miles better. Kendrick makes better albums and he’s a better performer. Lupe piped up when Drake was on top jn the beef but post euphoria was conveniently quiet, and then says he hasn’t heard the newer songs of the beef. He’s a jealous hater let’s keep it real. I think Lupe is bitter. I don't think he knows he's bitter, but I think he is. Kendrick and him have been compared a lot; they are cut from the same cloth and the conversation has noticed that. Kendrick blew up with GKMC, an albim with complete artistic integrity. Lupe got there earlier and was forced to make Lasers. It was short term success that eventually backfired on him when his fans stopped caring and the the lime light faded. Lupe knows how talented he is and it's causing cognitive dissonance for him that he's this talented, but Drake and Kendrick have had so much more success than him. He thinks he should sell like Drake, and that's why he keeps saying Drake is better than him, because Drake accomplished something Lupe couldn't (even with his greatness). Now that Kendrick is on top, the bitterness is boiling over.

Kendrick's Pulitzer Prize and The Damn album immortalized in Havard must really irk Lupe😅. When Lupe was signing to corporations ( the Machine is rigid), Kendrick was locked in with TDE (Top allowed his artist creative freedom). @thefinessekid9335 You talk like GKMC was an indie album that blew up purely organically with no industry help. They literally put Drake on the album as a feature to help promo and sell it. Not saying the same didn't happen with Lupe, he had the JayZ cosign and help, I'm just saying Kendrick never lost the industry help, and Lupe did. While he still had it he put out two universally recognized classics in his first two albums, same as Kendrick, and was nominated for and awarded grammy's for them. Then his relationship got so bad with the industry, his label had to be hacked and threatened by Anonymous in order for them to even release his last album under them, which I would argue was another classic

Lupe is better than both Drake and Kendrick with the technicality, wordplay and metaphors but I think he overvalues this as ‘rap skill’ so he thinks he is better than Kendrick and is annoyed that dot has had the more acclaimed career. He doesn’t realise that Kendrick’s story telling, tone changes, writing, flows and deeper themes is why people connect more to him as his albums feel more purposeful.
