Had to have surgery for rectal cancer and have an illeostomy. Not sure if I'll ever be able to deadlift again but I hope so. No better inspiration to try than Eddie Hall.

I love how patient you and Martyn are with paddy. With the obvious fact hes nowhere near your strengths and yous constantly have to load and offload all the weights and assist on how to hold, stand, lift correctly. Thor’s attempt at 500kg was a lot closer than Eddie gave him credit for. Not to mention it was part of a full show and without a deadlift suit. Eddies 500 is still way out there as the top lift, but credit due all around.

But it was on a long bar, which bends a lot more. And the more bend it has, the higher the bar will be before the full weight is off the floor. Thor still hasn't gone past 470 on a normal bar.

@@themetalbutt2598 Eddie Hall himself says it many times that "the real deadlift" is getting it up to the knees. He says it in this very video even. Point in case: Starting the deadlift from a higher bar allows for greater weight, because that part of the lift is easier. The hard part is getting it off the floor (not just starting to, but completely getting it off) and raising it to the knees. THe part before that is easier on the elephant bar, but the part between having gotten it off the floor and getting it to the knees is just as hard. So no: Getting to the knees is not always easy. That's literally the hardest part of the deadlift. Don't believe me, believe Eddie "the 500 kg deadlift beast" Hall.

We have that exact same sit down lat pull machine in my gym. The amount of people I see loading it up with 3 plates either side then rocking their whole body back and forth never ceases to amaze me. Big ego = small back!
