Fun Fact: Michael Jackson visited the set because he liked the Hannibal films. Michael was a horror movie fan. Which is why he had John Landis, the director of An American Werewolf in London, direct his Thriller video

@@basementdwellercosplayyou can be a fan of a genre without being a rabid fanatic of all things horror-related. Landis probably quizzed him on some really obscure references and when he didn't get the answers he saw as acceptable he deemed Michael as No True Scotsman.

@@basementdwellercosplayIf you approach an average self-proclaimed horror movie fan and ask if they've seen Dracula or the Wolfman, the answer will be no. I'm not totally surprised by this. 5:55 listened to “silence” on audiobook and in that Benjamin Raspail was a musician, dated Buffalo Bill, left Bill for a guy named Klaus, Bill kills Klaus and puts his head in a jar, and Hannibal kills Raspail and eats him. So this actually in line with the book lore.

Also Raspail knew Bill had already killed a few homeless people and Klaus, and instead of going to the police he treated it like an inconvenience and even told Hannibal all this in therapy, which is why Lecter knew who Bill was when Clarice started questioning him.

Red Dragon is like a true crime podcast, focusing on the grisliness and violence of the crimes and who the killer was and less on the actual victims affected by it. As evidenced by the crime scene photos we didn’t get many glimpses of in the first film and a focus on the abuse Dolarhyde went through under his Grandmother. Manhunter is more like the police procedurals of the time and focuses on how the crime affects the detectives and victims and generally more sympathetic to them than the killer. While they follow the same plot lines, it’s interesting to see how different they are despite that.

I hope at some point we get an adaptation where Dolarhyde more physically resembles his book counterpart, who was supposed to be an absolute unit in bodybuilder shape. Just the idea of someone who's both physically strong and massive and out of his mind bonkers is something I think would play really well on the screen.

@tuckershuff1441 I regularly get pretty big, and I'm trying to make it as an actor. Plus, I can inject a bit of personal connection: everyone said I looked really good, but due to suffering from rosacea all I saw was the ugly red spots. Like how all Dolarhyde saw was his palate scar, when people honestly did find him attractive.

Honestly after watching Red Dragon, Manhunter, and the NBC series I think the NBC series is my favorite version of Red Dragon and I think it's solely due to having the previous 2.5 seasons of history between all the characters involved. Not only that, but Mads Mikselsen as a much more subdued version of Hannibal, even when he's incarcerated which makes him so much more terrifying.

I'm not a big fan of Norton in general, he's good yes, but I just don't see what everyone else does. He's great in Fight Club but, well like James said, he's just Norton. Graham should be this hollow, haunted character. It's why Dancy and Petersen are so amazing at playing him. If you can't see them awkwardly stimming in the corner of a room they aren't Graham. I know in eight years time where Warner Brothers has fully bought out the rights to Dead Meat and production of the show gets outsourced to the entire population of a small city, the show-count will be amazing.

The Casting for Will, Hannibal and Jack are 10/10 still crushed it got cancelled for “too high of production” so we never got their version of Silence of the Lambs we got all books beside that one which really sucks. So I usually watch the show then silence even if there are continuity errors.

Raspail was actually Buffalo Bill's partner (they met at a shop where he worked) and a flutist. Lecter really killed him due to his subpar playing abilities, but before that, he was his therapist. Raspail actually ended up having to go to therapy because he cheated on Buffalo Bill once with a sailor, and Bill lashed out on his lover, killing him - it was that sailor's head that was kept in the jar in the storage room. Raspail is how Lecter came to know about Buffalo Bill and met him.

Will Graham is based on a real psychologist named Bill Hagmire. He made Ted Bundy confess to all the murders he did, Thomas Harris tagged alongside Bill to interview Ted Bundy to write red dragon and silence of the lambs. Edward Norton's performance is close to the real Bill Hagmire; whom I idolise. Manhunter is a masterpiece in film making. But red dragon shouldn't be disregarded. Good work was put into the film.

I highly recommend reading about this. It was really interesting psychologically.
