Every actor did a fantastic job, and every kill was amazingly done, even if there weren't as many kills as I was expecting there to be, which may have actually been in the film's favor as it offered more time to bring the humanity and honesty to John and his story. Right and proved why he technically lost it. He was betrayed and manipulated at his very lowest and thats even after what happened to his son and the other movie plots. It also shows why he has less sympathy for players later on becausethey are "soft" compred to these people in the game and their will to live. It explains why he also assumes they will all fail now because "its their nature andits doesnt change". Like with Cecelia or with Amanda, maybe after this she felt it wasnt fair for others to win the games because Gabriella still lost? Or it made her think no one deserves to survive more than Gabriella? I used to think Amanda's motivation was that she and Hoffman were jealous of eachother being able to "beat/win" the game. In my opinion, Mateo carving out parts of his head was worse. Cutting the brain itself wouldn't feel painful since, for some reason, our most important organ doesn't have any ability to do so. However, there's a bunch of other things in the way that he'd need to remove to get to it.

It's crazy to me that Tobin Bell did all this as an 80 year old man. It's easily his best performance to date. He's also really good in The Cello, a new movie, you all should definitely check it out.

Anyone who believes John isn’t a murderer doesn’t understand the point behind the series. The Amanda Young acting is truly amazing. We got to give Shawnee Smith some major props on showing the many sides of Amanda Young from the original movies. From her sympathy to a drug addict, to her trust in Jon Cramer for what he's done for her, to her spiral into madness with the death of a person she saw (hehe) a bit of herself in. Truly an exceptional character

Valentina's trap had me gaping in amazement the first time around, then cringing upon rewatch when I felt sympathy for the fact she almost beat it. Seeing her severed head and the rest of her body fall was absolutely nuts. Easily one of the best traps in the series, even if its feasibility in real life is extremely dubious.

Not the end result (clearly good work by the crew and writers), but it bothers me that creators have to expend so much creativity to do advertisers jobs for them on top of their own work. This was everything I could’ve wanted and more in a Saw movie. A story with an actual soul instead of an excuse for the violence, simple and efficient character development, and a surprising amount of emotional gravitas. I also like how the antagonists are the worst of the worst, so the violence actually feels pretty justified as it’s easy to not really feel any empathy towards them. And of course, seeing Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith back as John and Amanda being front and center for the first time was a delight. I really hope we see a follow up to this still set before the second movie as well.

Welcome to the set Carswell! Good luck on your directing/writing/acting journey! I also got to say one thing I love about Saw is they never bother making the lighting look great or anything like that. They intentionally make everything look dirty and disgusting.
