I feel Doug having an issue with the movie "kissing the MCU's ass" is another example of him expecting something to be more mean-spirited that it would realistically be. Like, yeah, it's an R-rated Deadpool movie, but it's still an MCU movie and them just resorting to make jokes at the MCU's expense like so many people are doing these days would honestly feel more insincere and pandering, like, you don't have to be so self-aware and point out how dumb the MCU is all the time, especially given how it's not like we're talking about movies that are infamous for their low quality or something so them speaking of them in high regard doesn't feel forced. Also, Deadpool is the comics *IDOLIZES* Captain America so him saluting him isn't really them "kissing the MCU's ass," it's just accurate to the comics.

It also lead to the really cool allegory that Peter is a representation of the REAL fans of Deadpool and marvel comics as a whole: friendly, upbeat, only wanting whats best, not more and willing and ok with being the butt of a joke as long as their in on it and it's not mean spirited. It works even better if you take the lady who is leading the TVA as a stand in for Disney Marvel: having eyes for him/them(Peter/the fans) and realizing that they might not look perfect in that suit but they still pull it off.

The part where Deadpool travelled through the multiverse to find Logan as an "anchor being" and we get to see different Wolverine variants (from "Comic Accurate Short King Wolverine" to "Calverine", and not to mention the Hulk vs. Wolverine) and their worlds feels like a love letter to X-Men.
@ianr.navahuber2195Ай бұрын
The only worlds missing would be: 1) Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman's stunt double. Give credit tthe guy who has been his stunt double since minimum Origins wolverine. Maybe even featuring the 1st X-Men film black leather costume 2) World where Wolverine fought side by side with Nick Fury, Captain America & Bucky (a comics accurate younger Bucky) during Wolrd War II. This even makes double use of Chris Evans appearing although it might diminish the impact 3) World where Laura is the main Wolverine and even has her All-New Wolverine costume Again,this one makes double use of Laura appearing later EVEN if it also diminishes impact. Also Deadpool joking "female wolverine still being good looking" and then getting slashed & stabbed (again) 4) Wolverine with an Alpha Flight inspired suit Deadpool even accusing him of stealing his Captain Canada option One that even I admit would be impossible would be a version of Wolverine already working with the Avengerss, the New Avengers roster especifically, featuring Sentry, Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Woman & Luke Cage.

I know this is honestly going to surprise a lot of people, but the part of this movie that actually got me really invested in the plot was the Blade cameo, let me explain. I was a huge fan of the Blade movies, yes, even the third one and in those movies Blade busted his ass, taking out vampires and their lords and saving that world that he was in three times if not more and then the TVA comes in & just erases that world and that universe that Blade busted his ass for, and He never even got to fight to save it. Something about that just got to me.

The only outright bad part was Wade breaking up with Vanessa because writers just can’t keep a healthy relationship together. The third movie in a row where they split up and get back together. Otherwise movie is great fun.
@claudiarey699Ай бұрын
Technically they only break up once because in the first movie Vanessa thinks Wade is d3ad and in the second she d1e5 and stays like that untill they change the time line. Still, I get that seeing Wade feeling bad about Vanessa for the third time wasent necessary.

That in itself was a slam against Marvel because of their inability to keep couples together. I personally believe that this movie was a love letter to the original pre-MCU movies, and wrapping up those movies with a nice bow tie of giving us the closure we needed for so many of these characters. For all the faults of many of those movies I still have a special place in my heart for them. This movie very much sang to and showed the same love and passion for said movies and just had fun with it, something which too many people forget about when talking about the MCU and modern movies. Like I LOVE how romantic comedy formulaic these movies are because not only is that Ryan Reynold's background, but it also makes Deadpool just a little bit more vain and aloof.

The chemistry between Logan and Deadpool is great. It's heart of this movie. Action is also great. Honda Odyssey fight scene is one of my favorite in MCU. Everything outside of these two aspects is kinda ok. It feels like producers and the studio took a lot faith in this movie and let them have a lot of stuff that was on the edge. Also it was pure pleasure to see Hugh Jackman reprising the role. After Logan I was really afraid how this character gonna feel like and he put so much in it. Especially in dialogues and fight scene. It's actually amazing how Weasley Snipes and Ryan Reynolds managed to patch things up years after doing Blade: Trinity because I remember hearing online that Reynolds said he would never work on a film with Snipes again. But to quote Scarlet Overkill from Minions: "Things change!" Also, the "I don't like you. You never did" line was a real-life reference to them not getting along behind the scenes as Snipes was apparently racist towards Reynolds at one point and was even uncooperative with the rest of the cast and director as he would spend most of the shoot in his trailer to get high on weed. Even when Reynolds' character Hannibal King says about Blade not liking him was a nod to their on-set feud as well.

I’m really impressed with Shaun Levy’s directing. It’s clean, tight, fluid. From the first to the third act the pacing is well maintained. It never feels like it drags on nor does it feel like it’s been undercut. All the story beats, character development and action sequences blend well together making it cohesive and fulfilling as a blockbuster. The production value is also impressive. The set design, set pieces, art direction, etc are vivid, tangible. Levy also doubles down on the violence and gore. It’s done with finesse. Disney, Reynolds and Co kept their promise. This film would remain an R-rated piece and it delivered on all fronts. A textbook example of making a comicbook film that is still fantastical, cartoony, meta yet poignant, poetic, earnest and utterly rewarding at its best. In fact it’s historical.
