This is a common problem with dealerships. As a retired technician I have seen people being charged for chasing issues when the tech really didn't do the proper diagnoses. And the poor customer pays for a bunch of work, and it still has the same issue even though the service manager swears up and down they fixed it every time it was worked on like the customer is causing the issue to happen. I tossed in my shop towel so to speak sold most of my tools and got out. Hooking women and senior citizens isn't nice business practices. On 3 occasions shops tried to hook my wife they had no idea she worked in the Automotive Industry for 20 years nor did they know I worked in the industry for 25 years they got embarrassed.

@@crcdesign9886 As guy who worked in parts for a dealership, the warranty for stuff is a pain the ass. Car companies set up dumb procedures that has to be followed for stuff to be warrantied properly. To be honest i think the car companies just make it to where they make more money off the "proper" way to do it. aka procedure saying to replace $2000 sensor before continuing diagnosis. It came to a point that i got fed up with it that i just had test parts laying around to give to techs to see if it actually fixed the problems.

They didn't read the service department memo that said don't try to overprice repairs by more than 75% . These people are thieves . Best of luck and God Bless you going forward .

Lmaoo the tech literally just put “no works” not even a couple short sentences of explaining how he came up with that answer but I woulda asked for my diagnostic refund after that 😅

I’m going to say this. There’s two types of people who work on cars. A parts changer, and an actual diagnostic person. A parts changer is someone who just changes parts out without checking for multiple things that could go wrong in hopes of fixing what is wrong which is what 95% of Dealerships are. An actual diagnostic person actually knows what they’re doing and has done the same job at least once to another car of the same make and model, and doesn’t throw random parts at it hoping to fix the problem. Most shops are unfortunately parts changers as well, and you have to find one with a good reputation before spending your money.

@maxxbenzz7842 If you have a lease on a car, yes. But if you bought it. It's your car. You can take it to anyone you like.

@truthsetter5155 not sure I'm following the logic. If I buy a Jeep with a factory warranty, I would want a " Jeep " mechanic from a dealership to fix it. If he screws up, I keep taking it back until it's right, under warranty. If you take it to a private mechanic, Jeep could say you didn't need this or that, or he overcharged you, we aren't reimbursing you. Or does your mechanic get paid right from Jeep, and you don't have to deal with getting reimbursed?
@truthsetter5155
@truthsetter5155 Ай бұрын
@maxxbenzz7842 their are certified Dodge mechanics that can fix it. But if you have a warranty on any car. You're kinda stuck until the warranty runs out. Most dealers will give you a hard time if you let any other mechanics do warranty work. In some situations, not taking warranty work to the dealer will void the warranty.

Yo, my brother in law is a service manager for a big dealership. I had him watch your video. He said the dude is lying. If the dealership is fully open, then a GM is Always there they have to be to sign off and do payouts. Js get a lawyer and they will have to pay you even more he said. 😂

Man I feel your pain . You can never get into a dealer for any kind of service or repairs. Half of the technicians are under train or lazy and take short cuts. With miss diagnosis. Call ram care Corp. Then u get response

what DTC’s were in your car? I’m a Chrysler tech I’m goin look up diag procedure through our dealer connect and see what steps are said to do, cause chrysler provides information on what to test in very specific steps for most codes, so I wanna try and find out if he actually threw the parts cannon at it or if he actually went through the necessary steps to gather the data, either way his diagnostic was incorrect.

Car was under full warranty! worst experience ever! also the dealership supposed to cut me a check because I refereed my dad to buy A Jeep, well when I asked, referral no longer was valid.

I think you got very lucky they even covered that working in Field Service on Hospital equipment if you buy the parts that is on you. if you have us work on it and we change out fuel pumps and that does not work then put old ones back in and find the next thing down the line and see if that is it. However I never start with the most expensive item when it is billable trying to take care of the customer.

You asked what should you do. My opinion and only my opinion: get a truck with actual payload and towing capacity, unlike the Ram TRX. It will be more functional and can make you money rather than a car that just goes forward and reverse.

I was running out of time for leaving town for a month, I had diagnosed that my car fuel pump is not working through electrical testing, I had spoken to the dealer and they laughed when I said to change the fuel pump, they said it was my after market starter why my car wouldn’t start or my ignition system, laughing off my diagnosis. They would have wanted close to three or four grand to not fix my car if I had went with what they said. I went to the scrap yard and picked up the fuel pump for $16. Low and behold my car started snd worked flawlessly again. Just goes to show that they don’t always know what they’re talking about and they think when you tell them something they think the owner is stupid. The only reason I brought it in was because I was short on time. Anyway I managed to squeeze that in the evening before I left.

Good vid on a serious issue. I thought I had given up on MOPAR after buying our new 1985 LeBaron GTS. A decent car but dealer/factory support was dismal. Usually repaired GTS myself or went to our favorite independent shop. Fast forward to 2020. We buy a new 300S 5.7L - little has changed. Decent car, but have had to rely on my favorite independent Mechanic to fix some minor issues warranty should have covered, but the dealer charged me anyway without fixing anything.
