1973 Mercedes-Benz 220D 5/19/22

We had a 1971 220D.... It was ...by far the nicest car we have ever owned...it was built like a tank...and just as slow...but oh boy...what a nice feeling car...and those seats were the best ever..It just made you feel like you were in something very special.... Why can't they make a car like that anymore... nothing comes close...

Brake light could be low fluid sloshing and the sensor float is telling you to check. Did you?

I have 1973 220 I replaced the alternator and voltage regulator still won't charge Any idea what it can be?

Where did you get this 220D? It's shockingly similar to a friend's who picked theirs up in Stuttgart. I wonder if it is.

You’re badly mistreating that gearbox because you’re downshifting at too high speeds. The synchronization rings will go bad in the long run. First gear should not me engaged unless almost stopped. Second gear not engaged unless in a slow crawl. That car has a 3.92:1 ratio rear axel and you should be careful.
