My husband is an esfp and tries to be funny. Often times he succeeds, but sometimes it's misplaced because he reads the room wrong or his tone is harsh. It's so hit or miss because it's very spontaneous. Biggest complaint: I'm an intj, so his last minute push to finish things sometimes leaves me picking up the slack with EVERYTHING else practical that he's let slide. That loses its charm quick. Biggest joy: He is a genuine, kind, loving person and tries to make me feel cared for. We trust and love each other very much.
@devinbrines
@devinbrines 2 жыл бұрын
Dgsd, do the jokes bother you when they don't hit? I'm an INTJ and tend to not have a 100% hit rate with my jokes either, lol. At the same time, I'm not easily offended so I don't really care when ESFP's are not completely graceful. Curious what you think about it
@dogdonut3
@dogdonut3 2 жыл бұрын
@@devinbrines Usually I find the misses in humor kind of funny (typical intj gallows humor). My husband's missed jokes only bother me when he thinks he's trying to lighten my mood. If I'm sharing a deep feeling of sadness, that is not the time to crack a (not very good at sarcasm) sarcastic joke. That's the time to listen, validate maybe. But I think sometimes those overly serious, but not outwardly emotional (no tears) moments confuse him. He's getting better. And I'm getting better at opening up with visible emotional expression. That gives him the cue to hug, or say, "That's really rough. I'm sorry." Sounds so thought out, but it just kind of organically happened with time and trust.
@devinbrines

@@dogdonut3 Hm, it's interesting how they are emotional in a much more overt way, isn't it. In a sense I feel like I can be actually more emotional at times even though I keep it inside. Sometimes I will be totally livid, or completely crushed, but not cry. I feel like a lot of people should be able to tell, but they really can't read it properly. You've got me thinking now. It definitely is a weird difference. I wonder if they get really emotional in a super internal way like we do.
@dogdonut3
@dogdonut3 2 жыл бұрын
@@devinbrines I can confirm that they admire the stoic way we do things and do it themselves (same functions). It took my husband over a year to trust me with his deepest true feelings about his sons illness. That somehow made me love him more.

Oh Joyce, I just watched your Pucokie interview, and I wanted to thank you for being so candid. My heart really goes out to that version of you, and I wish I had been one of your professors then. Because I would also have noticed and checked, and followed up, and done pretty much anything to give you a hand. But never would have shown announce of pity, only empathy and understanding. And I wouldn’t have forgotten about you either. I did this sometimes for my own students, and it was an honor to be in a position to do something, anything, to lift them up, in some way, as I had wished, myself, that someone would have for me.

I can really relate to how when people are in our hearts they stay there, it might not seem like it to them because sometimes we can't express our love properly but it doesn't mean that they don't mean the world to us.

I’m not wired for maintaining relationships, either, so I think that for those of us who thrive on being present and perpetually meeting new people and having novel experiences, it helps when we meet others who have similar expectations of only interacting whenever life has our paths cross. Personally, I find that not only more exciting, but more ORGANIC, as well. If someone’s meant to be in your life in a certain capacity, it’s not going to feel like work, and it’ll exist in a FLOW STATE.
