God, I was not ready for this show to end back then, and now those feelings are all flooding back. This episode is such and an emotional roller coaster. Mara saying: "You are worth more than what you can give to other people. You deserve love too", I've never heard a line that's so satisfying yet gut punching at the same time. Super relatable too. Same for "Adora doesn’t want me, not like I want her." So tragic. I know it struck a chord with a lot of viewers.

catra:"adora doesn't want me. not like i want her" meanwhile adora almost falls into the abyss while daydreaming about her. no but seriously, it actually doesn't surprise me that catra thinks that. adora is so focused on saving the world that she doesn't even consider those feelings. even tho it's painfully obvious to us that adora loves her, catra is also battling with her own low self-esteem and fear of abandonment. she doesn't even think she's worthy of adora's love. and either way, she sees adora NOT choosing her (again and again) as another big betrayal.

Yes, that line from Catra really solidified how truly alone Catra has felt since the beginning of the show when Adora left and that struffle is still present. All of this makes full circle so beautifull with the beginning of the show it's unreal ❤️💔

catra confrontating shadow weaver felt so earned. and it's not even like the time she confronted her before, back when she broke her runestone on her mask and put her in prison. that time she physically confronted her and defeated her, but she always did it with a mask of superiority, never being completely open with her. now she's vulnerable but so resolute. she clearly tells shadow weaver she's done with her bs, that all she cares about rn is saving adora and doesn't wanna hear shit from SW. she basically tells her "you had all this power and always used it in the worst ways against us, so the least you can do now is use it for something good" and shadow weaver is left speechless

You totally nailed it, I agree, the way she confronted SW felt so much more confident and in a different headspace from the past 4 seasons, and I believe SW's silent reaction is very telling as she didn't expect this from Catra precisely. Such a good, powerful moment!

One of my favorite things about this show is that it is the ONLY one I have seen to show the negative, almost toxic, side of the chosen one troupe. I have watch a lot of shows and lived for over 3 decades and never once have I ever seen it displayed in this way. Many times the chosen one is willing to give their life sure, but only as a last resort. For Adora, it’s almost instinctive for her to immediately sacrifice herself. Its like she has no value of herself outside of being Shera, and sure we saw parts of this when she first met Perfuma, but at the time it felt more like trying to fit in with a new group rather than ‘I’m the hero and it’s my only worth’. Adora is so ready to sacrifice herself, and seemingly unwilling to even try to fight for herself. For someone who is obsessed with anime, especially ones with heroic characters, who are destined to save the world, it is interesting to see this different take on being the chosen one. Just because you are destined to save the world doesn’t mean you have a healthy mind set, and I completely blame Shadow Weaver for it. Because she was crueler to Catra, I feel many people over look the fact that Adora was just as abused as Catra was. I mean Adora even says word for word, Shadow Weaver told her she only had value as long as she obeyed, and with everything we have seen so far, it isn’t a stretch to say Shadow Weaver was planning to use Adora to get the heart or something, so she trained Adora to only value herself as a tool to be used, and now we can clearly see the toxicity of such a mind set. Remember folks Shadow Weaver might be more affectionate towards Adora to the point she doesn’t fear the witches touch like Catra, but Adora was still very much used and abused. So anyone else loves this take on how being the chosen one can lead to an unhealthy martyr complex?

Totally agree! The way the chosen one storyline is approached here is very rare and I appreciate how maturely the show went to question Adora's actions multiple times through Mara, Angella, Catra, the First Ones, Shadow Weaver... it felt like such a complete arc and it addeed to Adora's complexity with all her flaws. I LOVE Adora so much and yes, SW is absolutely key to this toxic mindset and I commend ND Stevenson for writing all of this in such a way that deeply resonates with adult audiences!

That whole dialog with mara has to be some of my favourite lines in the show. "you're worth more than what you can give to other people. you deserve love too". they just hit so hard. and adora realtà needs to hear them. it basically sums up her whole arc: her only value is based on what she can do for others. she never takes her own needs and wants into consideration, she's so detached from herself, she's basically in a constant identity crisis. she needs clarity. and we all know that clarity is catra. her love for catra doesn't "confuse and distract" her, it gives her, it gives her strength, just like her love for her friends. i think this is the episode where adora realises she's in love with catra. right when the holograms in the temple show her all the versions of catra she's ever loved. she's been so detached from herself that she never paused to reflect on those feelings, but in that moment i think she realises she's always loved catra. IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL GAHH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. ALSO BOW AND GLIMMER'S CONFESSION?? i gotta admit i didn't expect this route either with bow and glimmer, i started to suspect it during the Stranded episode, but i wasn't so sure. at first i was confused if they meant it as "i love you as my best friend" or "i love LOVE you" (both kids of love are equally strong but you get what i'm saying), but the way glimmer said it, especially emphasised the second time, just made it so clear. and bow's little kiss on her head. aaah. they are so cute, they make such a perfect couple. i think after that big argument, and almost losing each other, their bond got even stronger. they complement each other so well. just like catra and adora.

Yep yep yep! This ep has two of the very best moments of the whole show and you described them beautifully, they elevate Adora as a protagonist as one of the most complete and believable I've ever seen! ❤️ They built up Glimbow SUPER well this season, that confession wouldn't be the same even without the drama they had at the end of the 4th season and beginning of this season, it's so earned and cute in between the chaos happening. So good! ❤️

8:08 is one of my absolute favorite moments. It was established way back that First Ones tech reads your mind and traps you using your deepest desires. At that time, it was scary. Now, they can see it coming, and know to avoid it, but that only means it's taken on a new role. Instead of communicating danger, it communicates a given character's heart's desire. And what Adora wants the most isn't to be the hero, or save the world. She isn't even She-Ra in her hallucination; she's just regular, fallible, never-enough Adora. What she wants is to just be Adora, and to be loved by Catra. Also the catra-colored eyes emoji lol

I can't believe it just re watching this ep again and hearing Entrapta say ("I'm sorry") was scary and sad because she has been working so hard to stay focused on her job to save the world and she almost had it and she knew her thing was going to work because she is so good at her job, and everyone should of have said thank you to her for saving the whole world with bow's help. With a her teac she couldn't do it without the princesses to distract the bots but she has come a long way since season 1 I'm so proud of her. I wish I could remember my first reactions to all of this show but I can't but I know for the fact that I cried at the end because I cry every time I watch the last two ep of the show.

4 thoughts: Yeah, Prime's first appearance would have been a pretty good cliffhanger. Or maybe I just wanted more episodes. I must confess the forehead kiss always struck me as more of a sibling-type thing. Just me? You forgot that, when Shadow Weaver got those dark magic powers, Micah was helping. He's ALWAYS known how to do that. He'd just chosen not to. Mara was a traitor against the First Ones in what is basically an internal matter. I think it's actually quite possible she and Prime never met.

I really enjoyed Glimmer from start to end her always not listening to her mum and just doing her own thing but once her mother left she started to understand why her mum was telling her to stop throwing herself in danger she saw what all the risks were back before her mother passed she didn't think about it but she saw how Bow got hurt and finally understood and she lost hope when she was taken to Horde Prime she thought she wouldn't live no more that's why she trusted Catra because she knew what Catra felt they both hated each other in the guts but they are too much like each other more than what they would like to say. Glimmer wasn't bets at being Queen at first because she got the crown at the wrong time she wasn't able to be a leader at that time but when she locked away she must of thought about everything she did wrong and wanted to ix it so when she got saved she wanted to earn Bow and Adora's trust again it took time with Bow because he was loyal from the start but I'm glad they got it all to work. Even though she never really mad up to Adora for saying she was the one who got her mother to die because it wasn't Adora's fault or Catra's or anyone's because no one knew what the portal would of done Catra had no clue about the Queen dying, I wish we got to see Glimmer say sorry about that in detail.

I'M SO EXCITED! These final episodes are like punches straight to the gut. Catra and Adora, Entrapta and Hordak, Glimmer and Micah... There's so much emotional damage and I'm 100% here for it. All of the "I love you"s come out one at a time, leading up to the most anticipated in the entire series. And considering how open the ending left the story, maybe it could lead into a movie? Maybe not, but I choose to have hope! Or I might just be in denial XD

i swear S5 finale actually caused an anxiety attack in me, I was so frickin stressed about Catra and Adora, as well as Bow and Glimmer, just EVERYONE was unbelievably fucked and it scared me cuz i genuinely felt a connection with these characters.

I understand Catra a lot I act a lot like her I never really had close friends because they were fake and left me and when I get mad or hurt or upset I think it's best if I just leave because if I'm the one making everything hard it isn't my friends fault so it would be best if I'm gone wouldn't. Catra was hurt that Adora chose the princesses and not her but Adora didn't chose the princesses or Catra she left because she knew that day Hordak was asking advantage of her so she left she knew she was living a toxic life so she left and knew Catra knew about that but Catra chose to stay because she didn't feel safe enough to leave and needed to prove herself again and again, So I'm very glad at the end of the show she chose to stick to Adora never wanting to lose her again because she thought she wanted to win and be on top but we all know all she wanted was to be worthy of Adora and she finally proved it when she saved Glimmer and it showed Adora that Catra wanted to changed for good and not just to spite Hordak or Hordprime. I'm glad she got her therapy cat because Catra needed that to be open with herself so she knew her true feelings and understand why she was mad or upset or happy she is lucky the princesses forgiven her after everything her and the horde did to all of them and everything that happened in the show.
