The Bridgertons were named alphabetically (Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, Hyacinth). Eloise and Penelope are the same age, but Lady Featherington chose to have Penelope enter society a bit early at the same time as Daphne and Cressida.

💗Colin & Penelope's most popular ship name is Polin, but I also like Coliope💗

Colin and Penelope are personal to me because my husband and i we too were friends for long time Haha i was his Colin and one thing, 7 years in friendship, made me see him as a man and notice feelings i had not realized.

What LW wrote about Colin was spot-on! It wasn't scandalous, especially for a man. He needed to be called out and she read him up & down and she did not lie. Even his siblings were like, "Who even are you?" Pen knows him better than anyone. His mom eventually had him clocked. His siblings (except Hyacinth) know something's up but are ultimately clueless. At some point, Hyacinth always asks the love-sick sibling about the main love-interest and causes an awkward moment! It's great. 😂

I personally don't think she said anything wrong about him. She basically pointed out that his attitude has changed since in previous seasons , that was not his attitude. I think people forget that she is the gossip column reporter (TMZ). So when he is flirting with multiple women out of nowhere in public its bound to end up in the pages. It's not like she called him a Rake or insulted him. However i do think what he did was worst. By saying he would never court her , he is diminishing her value amongst the men. Men pay attention to the desirable, so by making her undesirable it just makes the situation worst. The fact that he doesn't understand her situation points out how much he lacks awareness. People need to keep in mind, her business is public society. If anything happens in public society then she reports it. Unfortunately we only see the stories that have to do with them but i'm sure she writes about everyone.

I will offer this point of view. Colin received a lot attention from all the young ladies. So LW needed to say something about him. Maybe not exactly what she said but she needed to address the fact Colin was a hit with the ladies. He made a point to razzle dazzle the ladies in the room. It may be a bit mean spirited but I don’t think it’s scandalous, especially since he’s male.

Devil's advocate. I feel compelled to make a case for Eloise's short-sighted behavior and about personal sacrifice. Eloise was incautious and impetuous seeking Whistledown, knowing the Queen was watchful of her conduct. Had she realized she was putting Whistledown, and everyone from working class involved in the situation, at risk, perhaps she could have been more cautious. Nevertheless, she was not. She put her friend in a situation of sacrificing her entire work operation, which includes Theo and the store where they are made, a pecuniary loss and putting a target on that group of working class people, not to mention the personal implications of it, for her own amusement and curiosity. Valid to point it out that Penelope tried to dissuade her to find Whistledown, because at this point Eloise knew the Queen was suspicious, including when Eloise acted in such manner at her brother's wedding day. With that said, why is it fair to ask for Penelope to sacrifice everything for Eloise self created problem? She created the situation in which she stood now. The options left left to solve it were few. And the one that was the least destructive was to make a reference to her political partisanship, thus removing the risk for Theo, the other workers, for Eloise and Penelope. And Penelope took in consideration Eloise's words for not caring about what society thought of her and defying it. The problem is that for Eloise those were mere words that she wasn't brave enough to put to practice or didn't believe it in her heart. Nonetheless, it was a minor scandal that could've been bigger had her relationship with Theo be made public, as innocent as it was. Sometimes it feels like we think Penelope should sacrifice everything for other but the others should not.

Not that I hate Eloise, tbh I probably would react like her if a friend betrayed me but I'm a ride or die for Pen, she's made mistakes like coming for the queen but I think what she "did" to Eloise is/was never a betrayal or form of revenge. in fact she never wrote anything that is even close to being revenge.

Penelope definitely has poor judgement and a power complex with LW, but she did have good intentions with what she did to Eloise even if it wasn't well thought out and was done in the heat or the moment - and it was at the Modiste's advice. The Queen was convinced Eloise was lady whistledown and she was, at the same time as being under the queen's microscope, acting outside of society. Pen eradicated the suspicion of the queen, and saved Eloise further humiliation by citing vague gossip vs someone catching her and assuming a far worse/specific scenario that would actually ruin her entirely. And she /hated/ doing it. Just like she hated what she did to save Colin from Marina tricking him into marriage in the first season. She broke down in tears over it, even. But she has the ability to spare someone she cares about a tragedy in a situation where she believes that she herself wiill either not be believed or has no power and she does - whether or not she should is...well, a different conversation lol. Though I don't think what she wrote about Colin is bad. If anything its just pointing out the obvious - which is what gossip reporters do. They simply point out what new, interesting things are happening - including Colin coming back suddenly looking and behaving out of character. Men don't often get 'ruined' the way ladies do, with the exception of Berbrook, who decidedly deserved it.

I knew we would swim to different shores about Penelope and Lady Whistledown. 😁 I think Pen is still a very young girl, with a problematic and psychologically abusive mother - and sisters - and people around her who plummeted her sense of worth to the ground. And she ends up venting in a messy way because she's very hurt. However, as others have commented, i do appreciate she doesn't not create stories nor lies.

I think Cressida is the reason Whistledown exists to be honest. In the book this season is based on, Colin asks Pen why she started Whistledown and she replies that she came home after her first ball and wrote down her thoughts about what she experienced and heard. She left it out by accident and her father’s solicitor read it and found it hilarious. He convinced her to publish it and continue to write about every social event she went to.

So excited! This is my favorite season so far. I love Colin and Penelope. And Colin, he's a misunderstood character in many ways people undermine his insecurities and traumas too, why he is basically trying to be something he is not. And Pen is the one that has truly read him perfectly questioning this new personality. I read this about him and it made me think even more:

The way the Bridgertons were named alphabetically, as someone in the comments has correctly pointed out reminded me of how the "Pontipee brothers," in the 1954 film

he didnt see her in his arrival scene! She is tucked into the bushes therefore hidden from view! That scene is actually really sweet because when he left for his travels in previous seasons (s1 i think?) he took a glance at Pen's house before he left, and now that he is back he gave the same glance at her house! Its because he missed her!!

Even though Pen was in the wrong with publishing her opinion about Colin... she was dead on with her assessment of him. WIth everything we see in the first part of season 3, she sees through the mask Colin puts on after being gone for months. Penelope and Violet are the two people who understand him the most in the world.
