The best part of Monster Hunter, you are always learning, whether its the enemies or the weapons. We all started at some point and were bad while doin it. Don't be discouraged cause thats what the game is all about. Love the vid!

I have over 2000± hours into the game and several hundred hunts on just about every weapon, let me say this for those who are a bit different from normal... It's OK not to have a Main. By all rights I am a Hunting Horn main. I play Hunting Horn at a very high skill ceiling. I've learned to use and abuse it much more than the average enthusiast and can mentally keep track of how long my songs have been up before needing to be refreshed. I know the weapon in its entirety but does that mean I should only play HH? No. No it doesn't. Picking a main is more about what you're comfortable with, and what connects with you. And sometimes, if you're like me, you connect with multiple weapons. By number of hunts and proficiency I could claim to be a Lance main, Gunlance main, Switch Axe main, Sword and Shield main, Insect Glaive main. Every one of these weapons I have hundreds of hours and hunts with, I know them just as thoroughly as the HH. And I have been just as successful with them as well in my hunts. I have hundreds of hunts with Hammer, Defeated Fatalis and Alatreon with Charge Blade, killed pretty much everything with Bow... My point is it's OK to master them all too and not identify as a particular "main". For new players I feel it's REALLY important to play with every weapon, take it on at least 30 different hunts before moving on to something else. Give the weapon a chance, try various builds, come back to it when you have better materials and can craft the best weapons. Because that can make a huge difference too, sometimes the endgame weapons can change your opinion on an entire weapon archetype. So new players, it's ok to not have a main to identify with. It's OK to enjoy multiple weapons, or enjoy them all. And it's perfectly OK to master them all as well, especially if you're planning on playing this game for the long haul. Too many people choose a "main" get narrow minded about every other weapon and spend forever arguing why their choice is the best. And that's perfectly fine, but I highly recommend being proficient with all of the weapons before choosing your main so you can speak from a knowledgeable standpoint when defending why you love your main so much. Enjoy, have fun, learn as much as possible, and don't be afraid to be different. Oh and Hunting Horn is a support weapon... We "support" by killing the monster mercilessly and your buffs received are merely just a situational coincidence of our generosity. A true Hunting Horn main is a sight to behold on a hunt. 😁🤘

This. World was my first real MH and i played on release. I had played Freedom Unite and 3U when i was younger but i sucked 😂 so i did around 10 hunts with each weapon and found i did the best and enjoyed GS the most. I got to endgame and then spent a good 100hrs on every weapon, made a build, learnt the weapon and did alot of hunts. After all of that and around 2000 total hours in just base World i found i mainly enjoyed GS, LS, SnS and SA. But i would identify as a GS main

I was using Glaive and DB but started carting a ton as monsters got harder. Watched some guides and lately found Lance as a new main. I've stopped carting so much and still learning to counter better and learn the monsters more. Now it's time to learn to use offensive guard and my movement to stay on the monster all fight. I would definitely recommend lance as a "safe" weapon if you want to progress the story without failing the quests and what not. This man is one of the most entertaining Return to World streamers and deserves all the views. Thanks again DG.

For new SNS players, Perfect Rush is good to use for longer openings, but learning the bread and butter (standing circle, circle, spiral slash, triangle) infinite will really help max out your damage on those smaller openings instead of only trying to Perfect Rush. It’s also just more enjoyable that way

Just found your channel the other day. Great vids very informative. I just recently got in to mhw, but i started with hbg, but switched to melee after for iceborn. The game changed so much for me. But for newer players id probably find a guide first then get a feel for it and practice in training area before hunts, mostly because its hard to practice a new weapon at the same time as learning a monsters attack patterns. This way you have an understanding of your arsenal of moves. But when it clicks in your head and you learn your weapon, very satisfying. Long swords all the way, super flashy and plenty of utility to dodge and avoid the damage you can dish out is crazy

I recently started playing and got addicted to the Hammer playstyle. I love that theres sleep damage - just the idea of running around and "BONK go to sleep" knocking em out in a few hits is the most entertaining thing I can think of when it comes to giant dinos.

So, the world was my first introduction to the monster hunter universe. When I first started, I wanted DB, and then I experimented with others until I tried IG, and I ended up loving it. Now, I main the IG with CB as my secondary weapon.

I love playing glaive, it’s a great “get outta jail free” weapons by just vaulting up and over. My only problem is aerial combat can be tough if the monster has dodgy hit boxes (in which case you’ll probably be hip checked into a new blood type 😅)

Tried every weapon but always come back to switch axe, great sword for monster hunter now
@vitsavicky2 күн бұрын
I love that the weapons are intricate and you need to learn them properly. But on the other hand there is 14 of them! And I just don't have the materials to be switching weapons and trying them out in a real fight. The training ground is fine and everything, but nothing beats a trial by combat. MHW is my first Monster Hunter game so I am very new to all of this. Have a lot to learn, but I like to experiment and learn new things. I have started with the Long Sword and used it thought the low rank. And just as I was leaving low rank and starting high rank I switched to the Great Sword. Not the best time to be mixing it up, but the Great Sword really clicked with me. LOVE the shoulder tackle. I tried the Bow soon after, but I don't think I can use it properly without a proper build that I just don't have at the moment. I run out of stamina constantly. I love the bow gameplay, but I detest stamina management in games... so probably not for me. I then tried the Heavy Bowgun. Also, not for me. I am not one for hanging back in a fight. And I don't like the element of preparation associated with the weapon. Now I am trying to get my hands on a Sword and Shield of a proper level so that I can try it on something I don't kill in two hits. The SnS seems like it could be fun. It's very versatile, the movement is great, unlike the Great Sword... I tend to play Great Swords in games like Elden Ring. They reward tactical play instead of button-mashing. You bide your time and wait for an opening and then you punish. What weapon (probably the Great Sword) would you say fits that playstyle best in MH? Or what weapon would you recommend I try?

All insect glaive guides I have watched are wrong. They always go on about how the ground combo does the most damage but they seem to forget that ground combos wear down your weapon faster and lacks armor breaking attacks"Tenderize" The glaive is about positioning yourself above and then striking down into the ground combo. Making your combos more meaningful. I have tested this extensively. Half air half ground is best and way more fun, all while looking good.
@matthewdevilliers31707 ай бұрын
In my experience with glaive. There are 2 ways to plays, either predominantly on the ground or predominantly in the air. I mix it up a bit depending on what I’m hunting. I find that staying between the monsters legs helps in dealing lots of damage because you hit multiple times in a single animation. If you get the placement right you can hit the monster many times with ease (at risk of being eaten).

What I did was beat low rank with almost every weapon as a challenge. It forces you to appreciate the different weapons and the runs feel totally different with each weapon. DB, Lance, HH, HBG, LBG, SnS, Longsword, Greatsword, Hammer, Bow, I’ve played them all but after that I knew what to expect from those weapons and that was especially useful to know what my teammates can do if they’re using other weapons.

How I pick my main weapon for every MH game. > I played various weapons in MH4U from the beginning. > Switch Axe felt the best so I went with it. > In Generations I played Switch Axe. > In World I played Switch Axe. > In Generations Ultimate I played Switch Axe. > In Iceborne I played Switch Axe. > In Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak I play Switch Axe. So here's how to pick a weapon. > Play Switch Axe. That's it and all the info you need.

No no no no no! If you're new to Monster Hunter, *avoid speed runners at ALL COST!* They *are not* playing the game as intended! They only care about fast hunt times. You want fun? They don't care. You want to midigate things monsters do to you in game? (Like using earplugs to ignore monster roars) They well tell you don't use it because it doesn't contribute to DPS. They follow rules and do things like quit a hunt because they got hit once. No other hunter plays like that so *please ignore any content from them!* If you're new to the game, go to the training area blind and try out each weapon. This way you can find what works for you personally and not have your experience tainted by somebody else. Only seek out advice after you first attempted yourself. Remember the goal is for *you* to have fun, not you trying to copy what others do for fun.
@FlamingFist-nw8xv8 ай бұрын
I disagree. Speedruns are very helpful in finding optimal punishes for certain monsters. Speedrunners probably give some of the best demonstrations for the different timing of each of the weapon's moveset. A lot of the weapons have huge combo chains and it is important to figure out the timings to use these combos. I would not recognize the timings to utilize the full moveset of hammer on a fast monster like rajang without watching speedruns. This helps learn a weapon's moveset quickly. Treat speedruns like googling. Information should be suited to your needs. You should not be looking at a speedrun and only seeing high damage numbers. Not all speedrunners are like your over generalized statement. However its true that If players want to run earplugs its is not optimal but it is fun and that is what matters. If players only cared about optimal gameplay they would just be running HBG spread spam and stun locking monsters. Overall fun above all but I find some enjoyment out of improving as a player and watching speedruns definitely helps. Not all players are like me and can find fun in other ways and thats totally fine.
@AntonioCunningham8 ай бұрын
@@FlamingFist-nw8xv I greatly disagree. Far too many people are taking what they learned from them and going around actively trying to ruin others fun in the name of "optimization" as if being optimum is the goal. (Look at how many people upset at Asmondgold because he uses divine blessing) People generally don't see the hundreds of quests they quit out of in order to get their best times. People don't know that's they mod the game to try and minimize rng. (like monsters spawn location) They're giving misleading information to any one watching their content. If you have a desire to watch someone, watch a regular hunter, not a Speedrunner who's not playing the game as it was intended. Speedrunners are a cancer to the Monster Hunter community.
