Calling Sean a metal drummer falls short because he’s really a drummer’s drummer just happened to make metal part of his repertoire. He had the capacity and talent for any genre he put his mind to and we all got lucky that this is what he wanted to do. RIP Sean Reinert

When you have the skillset and determination to be the best at whatever you approach. Then you can do anything and life as a whole becomes seamless! it just flows and everything you do becomes or at least to the masses seems effortless and easy! I always face the camera at Neil Peart. I mean to many who at the very least appreciated Rush, His playing came across perfect and it's only because he worked tirelessly to achieve that level of ability his practice and attention to detail was beyond most people's comprehension. But that's what it takes if you want to be that good. You have to make sacrifices. Hang out with your bro's or work on that lick, rudiment or whatever until it becomes second nature. Discipline is key, I mean who wants to sweat over a single part of a song for 5hrs or get laid? Those decisions when your young are not tough to make. Then you hit 40 and realize, pussy wasn't worth choosing over being able to play as good as guys like Sean, Neil or whoever gets you stoked at shows ya know. Food for thought that's all...

@sergiovelasquez51384 жыл бұрын
@@george9822 I bet he did, but his fast double bass was not the most impressive thing he did. Most death metal drummer at the time only played the skank blast beat through the whole song with some linear fills every now and then. Sean had amazing dynamics, never played just one beat for more than 20 seconds, he was like a jazz-prog drummer playing death metal. His drumming was never monotonous, his fills were brilliant, his beats were really creative and he managed to do the same thing the guitar/bass did on drums. His work in Cynic was even harder, much harder, indeed. One really underrated prog/death drummer.

I love Reinert's drumming, but comparing him to Lombardo doesn't make any sense --their styles are totally different. Awesome drumming. This album really blew me away when I got it. I had been into death metal for several years by that time and had listened to Morbid Angel, Deicide, Obituary, Entombed etc but no Death for some reason. When I first heard it it was impressive due to its more complex(this could be the first technical death metal album) yet fast song structures. A combination not really explored at the time and the drumming was incredible. I seriously thought it may have been the best I heard from any band at that time and it still is up there today. I also liked the production quality. Chuck seemed to be an interesting fellow in that he was really a nice mellow guy yet had a constant line up change for his band. I think he was an extremely driven artist who knew exactly what he wanted and would do anything to make it happen. He simply would not accept anything less than awesome.

Is it just me or is the name Sean Reinert not given the credit he deserves? At that time I cannot think of many drummers who could challenge him technically in metal. Sure many had the double bass kick down but Sean has so much going on everywhere. Plus he could actually vary his double kick speeds as opposed to the one kick wonder. Ha ha, many say metal died at this time due to fucking years of horrific glam shit being shoved down our collective throats like a horrible McWarmed up cheese burger via Walmart daily for nearly a decade and finally Metallica signing up with the Hair Band God Bob Rock to destroy any chance of real metal being viable but what happened was that true metal fans said screw all that shit. No one is playing what we want to hear so we will play it. Metal was rightly returned to where it should Metal fans and there are plenty of great extreme metal bands today.
