For kids today that only look at stats and highlights they will never understand the true greatness of drogba....had phenomenal first touch anywhere on the pitch under any type of pressure, his range of passing and assisting ability was so underappreciated, his vision and intelligence top tier, man could strike a ball from anywhere on the pitch and it was gold, right foot left foot it didn't matter.

nah nah nah. Maicon was slick. His short game was next level. I cant name a better right wingback and he was very consistent for many seasons. I never saw his level starting to decline. To me its crazy how he didnt take a step up after inter. No clue how he didnt spend any time at another top club after inter. Like real madrid or one of the english ones. chelsea, liverpool, united even city in the beginning all coulda used him in his late 20's - early 30's. Criminally underrated. Maybe gareth bale had something to do with it, but it wasnt even his mistake. It was lucio's. I actually think the real reason is, he didnt want to leave italy. Zanetti never played rightback if maicon was in the lineup. Thats early days zanetti, but there was always a position in need of zanetti. Legend. Also he didnt have a peek. He's been a 33 year old man his entire life 🤣🤣🤣

Zanetti didn't play right-back because he was more versatile than any other defender around and both Mourinho and Mancini could afford to put him anywhere along the back four or even in midfield in order to accommodate Maicon. It's not because Maicon was a better right-back, because he wasn't, it's because he was limited and that was the only position he could play. Zanetti is a machine, and was for nearly 20 years, if anyone has any doubts about that, they need to go back and watch some footage. The guy was basically a hispanic Philip Lahm before Lahm was around. Maicon is the most overrated full-back in history, just like most of that Inter 2010 team, which was full of a lot of one-season wonders.

Off the top of my head he assisted Eto at the bridge (R16), then scored a free kick vs Cska (QF) then scored vs Barcelona (SF) and then assisted Milito vs Bayern in the Final. Also if I remember correctly Inter would’ve been heading out of the group stage had Sneijder not scored the winner in a comeback vs Dynamo. It was a much needed win otherwise going out was a big possibility. Revisionism happens too often nowadays unfortunately.

I remember all those vital contributions very clearly. And then for Holland scored twice against Brazil including winner in quarter final to help come back from behind. Scored decisive goal against Slovakia in round of 16. Scored goal to put them ahead against Uruguay in semi final. Again I don’t know what games these man were watching.

This just shows how underrated Jose mourihno’s Madrid was. 10/11 and 11/12 Madrid were arguably he’s best ever teams!! I doubt there’s any team he’s managed that could beat those teams. Those counter attacks were crazy!! They scored 121 goals in the league which still stands today and secured 100 points in the league against peps barca the season prior to that they had like 92 points. To this day that is the only Jose side to make UCL semi finals 3 times in a row, let alone 3 times at all.
