I used to wonder why people thought I was "overeducated," but then I'll see questions like this and start to realize that there are so, so many people out there who don't know even basic science. A couple of these things felt fair to not fully understand, I suppose, but that last one about the flag was so ridiculous that I initially misunderstood the question; I thought they were asking why we never take new photos of it, not "why can't we see it from this distance." Absolutely wild. Thanks for the fun video, Birdman!

@@Vi_Vi_1 Some people use it as an insult meaning "you only know how to be told things and not figure things out." In the workplace, being overeducated or otherwise having qualifications for a job at a higher level than the one you are applying for tells a prospective employer that you won't be sticking around long which means that they'll have to go through the expense of training you without being able to get as much in return. Example: I tried applying for a job straight out of college that I was overqualified for because the ones I was qualified for required experience in the field to even be considered. But, the low-rank job I got didn't want to train me if I was just going to leave so I had to sign a contract saying I'll stick around for at least a year with 25% of my pay as the collateral.

@@laraprisma6381 just so you know, natural leaves color is not green most of the time, it is the color you see in autumn. Chlorophylle production makes them green during summer. And yes, colors are only visible light wavelengths interpreted by your brains. Keep in mind each person sees colors differently. As an example, some people do not see the color blue very well, so, they would see green as yellow instead.

It's also the reason why there are no stars (common Conspeersy Theerist(TM) complaint) in the shots of the lunar landing. They were on a dusty rocky surface with a high albedo (reflects light really well) in a white space suit with a shiny lander module in stark unfiltered daylight (no atmospheric diffusion, no clouds), of course the exposure setting of the photos is going to be optimised for the scene they want to photograph, not the *_comparatively_** dim* stars in the background.

6:15 I'd also like to point out that people still look at this image and say "If there's no wind on the moon, why does the flag look like it's blowing???" A classroom in my school had the picture on the wall asking the same question and even as an idiot teenager, I was disappointed to see it. The flag is supported by a frame. You can see it on the top, it's essentially held up like a curtain. As for the ripples that look like wind reacting to it, that's because it was all creased from being folded up in storage. The astronauts had to assemble it on the moon (which was actually quite difficult) and because of this, it was all creased and people mistook the creases as a flag blowing in the wind, which made them assume it was filmed on Earth. So there's a bonus theory debunk for you!

There's also video footage of the flag being planted where the flag is visibly moving, but that's just because the flag pole got jerked around as it was being planted, and started swinging like a pendulum on its own momentum.

@@OptimusPhillip It probably didn't help that the astronauts had trouble putting it together because of limited movement inside their suits and moon dust being kicked up and causing a whole bunch of issues.

@@ericgolightly8450 For some reason yeah. It was one of my science classrooms and they printed out a bunch of stuff about the moon and put it on the walls. One of them had the image of the flag captioned with "If there's no wind on the moon, why does the flag look like it's blowing in the wind?". Even though I was probably 15 it annoyed me seeing that. What's weird is that I'm from the UK and they didn't teach the moon landing in schools, so I have no idea why it was there to begin with.

Some people also think that this image is fake because the size of the Earth as seen from the Moon doesn't seem to match with the pictures from the surface of the Moon showing the Earth. The reason why people think that is because they assume this picture was taken from right behind the Moon, when in reality it was taken from very far away and it zoomed in to the Moon and the Earth. The distance from the Earth to the Moon is around 400,000 km while this picture was taken from around 2 million km from Earth.

Birdman has a great voice for science stuff❤ 6:15 But I'd like to add to why you can't see the flag on the moon. All the unfiltered ultraviolet radiation on the moon has likely bleached all the flag white. It would have also made the nylon in the flags very brittle and may have disintegrated by now. On Earth, we have an atmosphere to protect us from most of the radiation but if you leave something outside in the sun for a long time it gets bleached, an effect that would be far more dramatic in a place with no atmosphere.

The thing with Flerfs is that they absolutely cannot grasp how incomprehensibly vast things in the cosmos are relative to us, people. Even the Earth, a microscopic mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam when put against cosmic bodies, is much too ginormous of a scale for them to comprehend. The Moon is much smaller than our planet, but it is still huge and incredibly far away on the human scale. No way we could see a human sized object from that distance, nor the curvature of the Earth (in most circumstances) without help. In any regard, a great video! Different from your regular content in presentation, but similar in form. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!

Of course, there is the thought that there could be more out there in the dark seas of space that is beyond our comprehension, knowledge that we were not meant to know and beings that we could not ever fathom on our own merit. Whatever the future holds, I can most certainly promise you that Humanity will find its place in the endless void of space and rise to dominate it.

I knew we were gonna get a lot of conspiracy theories bubbling up with the eclipse that just happened. Genuinely the greatest thing i have ever witnessed with my own two eyes btw... this video was very interesting, and though im not one of the "idiots" you were talking about, i still learned a lot from this video that i didnt know before. That exposure thing was really cool. Im gonna have to try it myself

Well done, my dude!! Finally, the idiots might understand! You kept it so simple that a child could understand the process and why we perceive things differently here on the surface.

It seems so simple now that I see it, but I just kinda figured that we’d never see the “dark side” of the moon. And works of fiction like Transformers: Dark of the moon were definitely inspired by that thought

Huh, guess you learn something new everyday. I didn't actually know why the sky becomes pink or orange in the sunset by Rayleigh scattering until now

I'm honestly still confused about the lighting on the moon. Like, even the videos of stuff happening on the surface of the moon show the moon's surface as a bright silver/grey, so why is it so dim in that image despite facing towards the sun? Is it because the camera is focused on the earth making everything darker like with the stars?
