IMO this particular line of machines (the 19,21,51, and 71 use the same mechanical parts) are the finest sewing machines ever made.

Wow, what a pretty sewing machine! I love vintage machines and this machine is one of the reasons why. So well made. Thanks for sharing.

I have this machine and its simply amazing! It runs as good as it looks. If you can get your hands on one of these grab it. You will not be sorry. I stumbled across one at a Goodwill it had every attachment and was in excellent condition. Great video!

What a pretty, and impressive machine. Wish I lived in your area so I could purchase and pick it up. And while in your presence look around, and pick your brain for answers to some basic questions. Love watching and learning from your videos.

Hello from Philly, Where do you list your machines for sale? Thanks for the informative videos!

Hello. We list locally in Southern Ontario.

Hello again, I see that you sell locally and since I am in Philly I guess I would only be able to buy if I make a trip to Canada from Michigan where I still have family (just a quick trip through Windsor)! In any event, I am interested in decorative stitch machines from this era and wonder if you could offer your thoughts on the following machines if you were looking at quality and variety of decorative stitch designs: Necchi NA Nora Necchi Supernova Elna Supermatic Bernia Favorit Husqvarna Viking 21 Are there others you'd recommend I consider? I am currently rehabbing an NA Nora that I acquired before I discovered the Elnas and the Husqvarnas and I am now thinking I'll use the Nora as my utility machine and have a standalone for decorative stitches. I am looking to use the decorative stitches for draperies/dining linens/childrens' clothing.

Hello Gregory. All of the machines you mentioned in your list are well regarded. I have a particular love for the Necchi models you called out. In my experience of restoring and testing stitches for all of these, I feel that the Necchis are most renown for their incredible ZigZag stitch and when the length is shortened, the Satin Stitch you get is incredible. For other decorative stitches though, I feel that the Husqvarnas and Berninas are some of the most accurate in making consistent decorative stitches. I have not come across one of the Bernina Favorits so I cannot speak to that model, but I have overhauled a number of Bernina Records. If you get up this way and are interested in the Viking 21 A I have, let me know. We are in Kitchener which is not that far from Windsor. The biggest differences between the Viking A and E models is that the E had a few less features and its cam was built in. They work well, but the A models have options for multiple cams and produce more stitch variety. FYI, the Berninas are more challengeing to find parts for and the Elna uses a friction drive but unlike other similar machines from other brands, the Elnas require a special tool (even I don't have one) and can be difficult to overhaul that specific feature. Of all the machines you have listed, I like the Necchi Nora best for ZigZag and the Vikings & Berninas for decorative stitches.

@@VintageSewingMachineGarage I am most definitely interested in the 21A and I do plan to make a trip to the Detroit area late January/February. How can we communicate directly?

@@VintageSewingMachineGarage By the way, another fabulous decorative stitch machine is the Pfaff 360 and I love that the cams are built in. Any of those in the pipeline?

@@gregoryoliveri3478 Yes. If you are subscribed to the channel, you can click on the "About" tab and at the bottom is a link to click on for my email where you can reach me directly. I don't post it here in comments section due to spam bots that roam KZbin. But yes, I would be happy to coordinate a time for you to visit.

@@gregoryoliveri3478 I have restored the Pfaff 360 before. Yes, its cams are built in and that can be an advantage although it makes for more complexity in the mechanicals of the machine and longer overhaul times. The one I restored have been "stored" in an attic for 20 years. Aesthetically, it was gorgeous but was a real bear to unfreeze from years of baking of the machine's oiled parts. I was able to bring it back but it was quite an endeavor since straight stitch machines have less to get stuck (there are exceptions!). Also Pfaffs, just like Berninas, can be challenging to find original parts for. But the scarcity of the parts reflects the lower sales numbers for brands such as those which partly explains the prices they bring when you do find them for sale. Pricing has more variables than this but that is one of them.

How do I find your website that I could purchase a machine from you?

Hello and thank you for asking. We sell off of Kijiji in Ontario. I wish we were able to sell and ship but the shipping and packing costs are extravagant. The other challenge is that carriers mishandle and destroy 1/2 of anything shipped that is as heavy as a vintage sewing machine.
