My journey with Dana started when I got rid of the portable washer I bought during Covid. I listed it for free on FB marketplace and it was gone in 2 hrs! I live in a small apt and now I had room in a closet for my grocery cart. I started decluttering my bedroom and after 3 decluttering it is a peaceful place! I implemented a laundry day and after 2 months got all my laundry done and put away. There is this concept called body doubling where you put a video or podcast on while you work. So I just did this as I tackled my kitchen!

You are so so patient Dana. You always answer questions so very kindly. I am so glad to see your subscribers increasing. I have some DOOM boxes to sort through and am watching and rewatching your videos for motivation and guidance and have been making progress. I am in the UK and for the past few years a friend and I do a couple of car boot sales every year. We don't make a profit but we spend a lovely morning together and everything not sold goes straight to a charity shop on the same day. It really helps to have those dates to be filling donation boxes for.

The more you declutter, the better it gets. It takes awhile. It took awhile to get in the shape it is in now. Five minutes a day really does help.

I just love your patience and kindness and how you never make anybody feel BAD about the state of their house. We are all at different levels, and your attitude helps me so much regardless of what kind of mood I’m in; overconfident, or imposter-syndrome guilty!

I was introduced to you via the Mel Robbins podcast that you were the guest on. You literally saved my sanity that day!❤❤❤ I have been doing my dishes every day and decluttering my visible areas. Today was the FIRST time I confidently opened my front door and invited my friend to step inside 😊👍🎈🎈 !!! Thank you my hero and enjoy your well earned summer off!

Who is Dana K White? She’s a freaking genius!!! People think I have no clutter, because I decluttered the visual areas first.🏆 Now I need to de-clutter closets then the craft room. I’m taking my time to keep from being overwhelmed. Getting rid of stuff is still soooo stressful. But it gets a teeny weeny easier each time that I declutter each area.

LAUREN BERGER - you could declutter paper and photos if you want to be continuing the declutter process and it can even be done in 5 min increments. I know because I had to do that with Long Covid. Important to be able to rest to heal 🙏🏽

Absolutely. I injured my back a few years ago and was in the same situation, but for me it was fourteen weeks. The first few weeks I could barely move and I was so thankful for all the decluttering I had done for years. While I was laying in bed recovering I played a game in my head and mentally went through all the boxes, bins, dressers and closets and tried to remember what is in there. I made a list of stuff I wanted to get rid of after I had healed. As the weeks went by and I regained mobility, I asked my partner for help. He lifted boxes and got things from the shelves high up. However, I didn't demand too much from him because he was at his limits as he had to do all the chores on his own. I remember I handled a lot of paper and small items like pens, summer clothing and jewellery. I took pictures and sold the stuff online. I also read some books and magazines and got rid of them. After I recovered completely I got rid of so much stuff during the next two months. Experiencing injuries or other health issues can really shift your perspective and lets you see clearly what truly is important. Be patient with yourself Lauren and take your time to recover.

Thanks, Dana. You've helped me change the way I see my home and make great progress. My main 5 minute pickup happens just before I get ready to end the day. I make a quick scan of the main living spaces and put things away. So nice to wake up to cleared end tables and flat spaces. Have a great summer!

I've been constantly dwelling on a shirt that I don't like on me, its a nice top and I paid more than I normally would, but it doesn't feel good on me, makes me feel bad every time I think of getting rid of it, even the thought of donating it feels wasteful, but it just dawned on me, I just thought, Lord if I donate this, let someone find it that will be very blessed and happy with it, that makes me feel like I'm not throwing away money, but blessing someone who maybe couldn't buy it new😊 its going, yeah!

I love it -- I am exactly that way -- I don't see it until it is overwhelming and then I am exhausted and don't want to do it. Your steps have given me the courage and the motivation to do it!! Even though I won't see it again until it is a mess -- again. I do my dishes every day. Seriously that has given me direction and some boost. thank you.

My friends neighbour decluttered a pair of cute rabbit salt shakers and gave them to my friend for me as I have rabbits.... He tried to give them to me, and I said "no thanks, I dont have a space for them or want to dust them.." I felt proud of that, as before I would have just taken them, even though I didn't want to 😅😂 (they are still cluttering up his kitchen windowsill) Thanks Dana ❤

I love your shirt 🙌🏼. And your program to Declutter I just subscribed a couple of months ago and had started making small changes. I’m going all in this year using your Decluttering methods. I’m 62 by the way and have had health issues, I’ve taken care of others over the past several years while working full time. That definitely contributed to my lack of ability to manage my home but I love shopping 🙄and my nine year old granddaughter loves shopping🙄. But now I’m making time for me and I am determined to conquer the clutter. I deserve a peaceful home too. Thank you. ❣️

You consistently give such great advice. Loved the answer to the first question and the seasonal clothing one. I live in coastal northern California, it's almost always 50 to 60 degrees with a few outliers. Layers are my friend. I love to knit... I recently decluttered knit hats, mittens, and scarves. Also down to one bathing suit. I swim once a year or so. My "seasonal" drawer is plenty roomy now

Regarding the question of if the house goes back to a messy stage. Life ebbs and flows. We’ve had a lot of sickness that seems to be lasting forever, hubby changed jobs, so my routine now has to be completely different than it was for years. So haven’t been able to declutter as part of my routine for the past few months. Is our house messy right now? Yes. But are we all ok with it? No. Which makes me glad! Because it’s not just me, that appreciates the process of continually Decluttering. Now my hubby and kids are ready for me to start my usual routine of Decluttering again, and they’re more on board with helping than they previously were. It’s a mindset shift. If you’ve been doing it for 6 years (way to go), even if you take a break for life happening, you’ll get back to it when you’re ready to 💕

During my surgery down times, I've made lists and drawn pictures of categories of things I will discard and what my new spaces will look like when they are beautiful and useful again. I created pinterest boards of clever storage rooms and garage solutions and planned steps and zones I can easily conquer as I feel better.

I think she must have been talking about her personal sisters and that's just sad. I have a private chat that I share with my sisters for the last 7 years and we've all been very supportive of each other But yes, the take your course back has been very supportive and nice. Everyone there knows how everyone feels and is very happy to cheer people on which I am very grateful for.😊❤

the journals can go, they are full of jugdement, they wrong the past by forcing it to an outdated perspective. I keep the (small) paper planners and diligently add to each day what happened - they are the sweetest memory, because they are neutral and allow a fond memory even of things I remember were difficult. many everyday days would be lost otherwise
