I used to buy 45s for a dollar at my local Piggly Wiggly in rural Georgia. I would buy those bags of cheap cassette tapes and make mix tapes on my mom's stereo that had a record player, radio and dual cassette player. Sometimes I would just record the radio at night when there was not many DJ interruptions and put those on tape... I got sweet dreams by the EUrithmics that way. My mix tapes sold pretty well in middle school, ever the teachers bought them.

I’m a boomer. My parents longed for the days without amplifiers, effects pedals, synthesizers and electric instruments, which they thought were cheating, and compensated for (in their view) a lack of talent in the rock and pop music of my youth. Technology moves on. There will always be a bunch of pretenders, and a small group of genuine talents. SSDD.
@christheghostwriter

@@macleadg I'm a gen Xer who's been writing, producing, performing, and marketing various songs and shows since the 80s. Most recently I played a set at the EDC music festival in Orlando, performing live electronic music with drums, keys, and vocals. It's a difficult thing to pull off, and I use any technology that will help. I say all this to point out that I'm not this generation's version of your parents. I wouldn't have walked out on Dylan when he went electric at the Newport Festival, and I have no issue with using every hardware and software tool in the music toolbox. I can still admire the work and performances of Lady Miss Kier. She's a treasure.
@macleadg
@macleadg Ай бұрын
@@christheghostwriter You can go back for centuries and find each generation complaining about the new music. When the piano was invented, people complained it wasn’t a harpsichord. Hate to burst your bubble, but you’re just reciting an age-old trope that has never proven valid. (BTW: Dylan seemed to create a lot of good music after going electric. Don’t know why anyone would be proud of refusing to accept his decision.). Maybe you’re just unable to grow & accept what’s new. Art constantly grows and changes. You can change with it, or sit around and gripe. Your choice.

I love the fact that Lady Miss Keir is obviously not lip sinking or hiding her voice. She didn't need any of that. I've heard her sing long before she was famous and long since after, just her voice alone in the raw without anything or anyone else around. Let me tell you, she was seriously gifted as a singer and dancer. Far FAR greater than any of her hit tracks revealed. She limited her own self because she could of sang anywhere with anyone and been one of the true all time greats. Her voice was seriously flawless and top tier! Very rare talent she was.
