If you don’t use it often, go with the powder over the liquid. When stored long term, the liquid eventually settles and separates and shaking it won’t reconstitute it. The powder lasts forever.

When I got rid of my toxic non stick cookware and switched to stainless steele, I picked up BKF and I have loved it for years. I use it every few weeks to restore shine to my pots and pans, as well as to help with the occasional stubborn something that doesn't want to come out. I also use it on my corning bake ware to remove baked on stains once in a while. For both situations, I wash as normal, then sprinkle a little into or onto whatever it is, scrub carefully, and it looks brand new really quick. I always do an after wash to be sure it's all gone. Tfs!

I first tried BKF on your recommendation probably a few years ago. I was constantly fighting with rust stains in my tub and shower. After I had watched one of your videos I decided to give it a try but didn't really have too much confidence that the product would work since I had tried so many things without great success. I was absolutely amazed and I have never looked back since! Cleaning the iron stain was once a very daunting task but after using the BKF more spray it has become almost effortless! I watched in amazement as it took away the stains pretty much on contact! There has been a couple of times when the store I usually buy it from was out so now I buy it by the case just to make sure it is always in my cleaning line up! Thank you for explaining more about this product because it cleared up questions I had about the difference between spray versus powder ect. Awhile ago I cleaned my toilet with a store bought toilet bowl cleaner that had bleach. Needless to say, the blue dye stained my toilet (I will admit I did not read the label that well). Did not work on my hard water stains and rings. Nothing at all works on it. I have used at least 8 different toilet cleaners including suggested ones. Too expensive to buy 3 different toilets. I have totally given up. Retired in Mexico and there are not a lot of different products available here.
@literatious3083 жыл бұрын
@@gladysgrand7633 Try "cleaning vinegar", I poured about 8 ounces in toilet bowl & let it soak for a while with closed lid after wetting all areas. Scrub then you'll see if some areas need more time, so just let it sit longer. Don't let it dry! "cleaning vinegar " is 6% acidity versus 5% for regular white vinegar, so you could also use that. PS...My toilet is from the 1930's, I initially used pumice stone wetted with vinegar to gently abrade away the hard water calcium ring deposit. "Whink Rust Remover" is a liquid that is absolutely fantastic at quickly removing rust stains, it's safe for most surfaces & clothes. Use pumice first, then vinegar, then Whink if needed. Don't forget to use latex gloves! Pumice & vinegar are very inexpensive & are must have items for your all purpose cleaning arsenal.
@gladysgrand76333 жыл бұрын
@@literatious308 Thank you for your suggestions, but I am of advanced age and kneeling on the floor is not an option. The vinegar you suggested I cannot find here as a lot of products are not available in my area of Mexico. Pumice stones are rocks here and not flat like in the states which would make it easier to use. As for keeping the area wet, because of the weather here, hot, most thing I spray on here dries almost immediately. Thank you for your kindness in answering my problem. I will keep looking for the cleaning vinegar but when I ask you it, they look at me like I am nuts. Thanks again. Stay safe.

I’d like to research CLR too and do a deep dive on it. Good request!
@literatious3083 жыл бұрын
CLR used to be much better but now I find pumice scouring stick wetted with vinegar tackles the tough old ring deposits quite well & using just vinegar to wipe down fixtures regularly keeps them from collecting harder spots. "Cleaning Vinegar" is 6% acidity vs. 5% in ordinary white vinegar so it works a bit faster, but either will work with some time. Never let it dry though, that redeposits the dissolved solids! Tip - leave vinegar soaked rag or paper towel on tough areas for longer soak times.

great video - just had these very specific questions after watching: 1) BKF warning label specifically says "do not ingest", yet we're supposed to use it on pots, pans, cooking utensils, and cutlery. How thoroughly do you have to rinse or clean the items after cleaning with BKF? Do we have to thoroughly hand wash these items with dish soap after the 'deep cleaning' with BKF? For the things that are dishwasher safe, is just running through a dishwasher once sufficient? Any tips or tricks for cleaning the BKF off of the items after using? When/how do we know it's safe to eat off/with? 2) you mention using a sponge or scrubbing pad with BKF... what do we do with *that* sponge or pad after using with BKF? throw it away? keep it, rinse thoroughly, and only use again when using BKF? or can you rinse it or run through a dishwasher and then use on dishes and cutlery like any other sponge without worry (again thinking about the "do not ingest" warning) 3) what "device" do you recommend for cleaning the bottom of pots and pans (both aluminum and SS) ? Sponge? REgular or Heavy DUty? Scouring pad? steel wool? magic eraser? . keep up the great work!
@cleanmyspace3 жыл бұрын
These are all really good questions. What’s important is that an item is rinsed after cleaning (with any product) and free of residue. You want it to feel squeaky clean and not reveal any streaks or clumps. The cleaning tool can be well-rinsed afterward until it runs clear. For the bottom of pots and pans you can start with non-scratch and some BKF and work your way up to a heavy duty sponge if needed. I hope that helps!

I've used "the friend" on many antique porcelain and glass telephone and telegraph insulators. For this I often do mix it with water in a bucket and let the items sit for a few days. Nothing takes 150 years of coal and diesel smoke off glass like oxalic acid. It's good for rust stains and other deposits on antique bottles as well but will not brighten etched or "sick" cloudy glass. But if stuff can come off, BKF will get it off.

Thanks for the very informative video. My sister sent me some a few years ago, and I use it on my stainless steel sink. I love it, but now will try it on other things as you have suggested, now that I have learned a lot more about it. Thank you so much!

I have been wanting to try this on my tub but wasn’t sure if it was too harsh. After this video I am definitely going to pick some BKF up and get cleaning. Thanks for posting all of this great information!

I’ve never actually tried bar keepers friend products before. A lot of the time if I need a powered cleanser I’ve used comet or Ajax but now I’m intrigued to try this product out and see how it works.

My husband brought this home but after reading all the warnings I was afraid to use it, thanks for this video I think I will get some serious rubber gloves and give it a try
@joycegreer93913 жыл бұрын
I was a little concerned reading the warnings also, but I went ahead and used on the kitchen and bathroom sinks. I don't use gloves and haven't had any skin issues. I also haven't had any issues leaving the product on for a longer time.

Thanks for this video! I just bought my first can of BK f. Since it was recommended on a cooking show for cleaning stainless steel pots and pans. I'm looking forward to trying it on many other places in my home after watching your video. Thanks again

I've used Barkeeper's Friend for over 50 years on my stainless steel sinks, and on my metal pans. I didn't realize you could use it on Corian which I have counters of, so I will be testing that. Thank you for the tip. 😊

Love this type of video. I’m here in the east end of Toronto, so happy that you guys are here in Canada as well. This way I know items you refer to are items I can get. Would love if you could do Borax. I hear it has a lot of uses, but not sure which ones are valid. Thanks and keep up the good work.

I love this stuff. I use it primarily for my glass-topped stove and sinks. The original powder is the best by far - but I'm currently using up the soft cleaner. I only have it because the powder is hard to get sometimes!

Hi, this video was really useful, particularly about how long to leave it on for and whether it should be mixed with other products. I didn't realize the range had expanded probably because I have not seen anything but the powder on the shelf. I love hearing about new uses for products. I know that it is not a range, but would love to hear what apple cider vinegar could be used for. thanks

I been using this and Soft Scrub for many years. Sometimes BKF will pop up at the local Dollar Tree. That's when it's a good time to stock up.

I hadn’t heard of this product until I saw the King of DIY use it to remove hard water stains from an aquarium. This stuff is amazing! When he was finished, his aquarium looked like it was brand new. :)

Ya know what’s really funny...... I’ve been using the liquid gold kind of BKF and haven’t seen the results I’m used to with the powder.... it’s a more gentle cleaner!!! I thought I got a bad batch hahaha!!! I LOVE the results I get from the powder.... just instant BAM 💥 So I think I’ll stick with the powder for my kitchen cleaning and take the gentler stuff to the shower/bathroom.... it still works wonders but that heavy duty umph needs to be in the kitchen where things get interesting quickly LoL Thank you so much for the great (and always informative) videos. Keep em coming!!!

Thanks Melissa- I have a porcelain sink and I’m excited to try this. Also for my pots and pans. Soft scrub and gel bleach don’t work on scuff marks, and magic eraser doesn’t do enough. Thanks !

Great new segment! You taught me some new things about BKF! I've only purchased it once. But now I plan on getting some more! I would be using it on my stainless steel kitchen sink, stainless cookware and on my gas range too! Thanks again. Love your shows!

This was the miracle product that cleaned my glasstop stove. I tried every hack, every glasstop cleaner, nothing worked. Tried this stuff cuz my mom brought it over and suggested it.... lord it worked beautifully at getting 3 years of schmooze/grime off the cooktop.... we used the liquid with gentle scrubbing and we only now have a couple spots where an entire ring of buildup once sat. Also.. 3$ for the liquid bottle versus 6-7$ for a cooktop cleaner..... heck yes! Gimme those savings!

Love BKF to clean my white enamel cast iron kitchen sink, looks brand new after a little of the powder and a light scrubby sponge. Takes out the black scratch marks and rust stains. Thank you for the review, it's a generational product for my family, thank you for breaking down the details of the product.
