I was surprised to hear you sing; you have a lovely voice! This morning I will clean my toilet, open my big window, and have some tea. I am very old and am becoming more intentional in my gratefulness. It's too easy to see old age as loss; loss of loved ones, of our work and abilities but there is so much more to enjoy in life. Thank you for another informative encouraging video! ❤🌼❤

I am soooo happy that I recently stumbled upon your videos and made sure to subscribe! As a 70 year young Japanese woman who has lived in Hawaii all my life, we have practiced in our everyday life a lot of what you are bringing our attention to so that it just becomes a second nature to us and we don't really think about it - like arranging your shoes neatly. But you are teaching me so much more as you are explaining the meaning behind each gesture or saying. Your positive nature is so entertaining and calming to start each day with. Arigato gozaimasu!!!😊

Thank you for this wonderful video. 🌸 I found that sentence so touching: “Even if no one sees it, the universe notices”. Even if you basically know these things: it's good to be reminded of them again and again.

I just came back from vacationing in Japan. I was fortunate to be in someone's home where they taught me about the shoe placement, but I didn't really understand the why. Thank you for explaining this! I think these everyday things are why the Japanese culture is so vibrant and exceptional. The self-discipline that they have is something we can all learn from so thanks for sharing. Arigato Gozaimasu!

Aki, I cleaned my toilet first thing this morning, and you were right, it made me feel so much better. It also made me want to clean my whole house…haha…not that it’s dirty, the freshness feels so much better and adds a good start to the day.

I visited Japan some years ago and was pleasantly surprised by widespread use of bidets instead of wiping out butts with the rainforests. I was inspired to install one upon my arrival home to 🇺🇸. This was especially auspicious during covid. I highly recommend this conversion. 😅

Aki, you made me laugh soo much by the way you said we should hold our phone up! 😂 I immediately fixed my posture as soon as you said that it lifts your mood to sit up and look up straight. You are right! 😊
I live in United Kingdom but I work at a Japanese Library. I really appreciate my colleagues there so I said お陰様です to them when they said お元気ですか. They softly smiled and bowed. I felt like I had communicated my appreciation. It felt good.

I loved your song, too! And I really giggled when you did the funny stance, looking upward at your phone. 😆 You are so fun and sweet, as well as helpful and kind. I live in Wisconsin, USA, this morning it was -13 degrees Celsius. How cold does it get where you live? I do not open my window when I get up in the morning! But I open my curtains for a bit. Then I need to close them again to keep the house warm on a cloudy day. If the sun is shining in the window, it will warm the room, so I leave the curtains open until the sun moves to another side of the house. I follow the sun! I really appreciate the parts about food, contentment, and the answer to "How are you?" "I'm good, because of all the support I have from others."

Additionally, I always sweep the area around the front door of my apartment. I live in a guesthouse, separate from the landlord's home. Unless it is heavy rain, I always sweep the front entrance area, to keep it neat and clean --- less dust & dirt to get thru the front door. My Nihonjin (Japanese) parents taught this to me as a kid. Greetings from Los Angeles, California, U.S.

The universe is recognizing it, how sweet is that. Your video enlightened my soul again. It is really great how you can turn your life by so small steps. The most of it I did already before but I was not aware of it that these were the right steps and went in a correct direction. But now e.g. I started to open my windows at least wide open once a day. I think it is also relevant to do rituals to calm yourself down. Therefore it is necessary and with a lot of rituals your mind is not going in confusing direction because you have a plan for your day. Thanks a lot for your video and I enjoyed my matcha too. I am doing that every day since 2012 and I love this ritual too. Have a beautiful evening!

I began to clean my toilet each day, which is a bit different as I live on a 37'6" sailboat in Santa Barbara Ca. This helped me begin a deep cleaning of my home. As there are many different areas of my boat, it is not reasonable to clean everything. I do all my basic cleaning and then decide on an area for that day.

Thank you for this video. Hearing your song was a fantastic surprise that made me feel that today is going to be a good day. Your explanation of the cleaning of the toilet in Japanese culture helped me understand the film "Perfect days" called "Komorebi" in Japan, by Wim Wenders. You have helped me in many ways to be tidier and to have a happier life because everything is clean and I have more space for new things in life and I appreciate it. You deserve even more followers. お陰様です

Thanks Aki for your lovely and deeply inspiring videos. It's so fascinating to find out about ancient Japanese wisdom which feels very logical and beautiful and soulful. Also it's funny to realise how many of these little habits I've been doing already without even knowing they had a deeper meaning in Japan. It makes me happy 😊You have so much respect for other people, I wish we had that too here in the west or in my country at least. I love opening my balcony door every single morning all year round, also in -20'C while I prepare some green tea. Then I also love washing my face with cold water after my breakfast. I absolutely love the freshness they bring to me. 🥰
