Less well known is what the Counter-Reformation looked like in England as a response to the schism led by King Henry VIII. Fr. Charles Connor explores the relationship between Catholics and Anglicans in England in the decades following the split between the Church of England and the Church of Rome.

Whoah there father, one minute in and we get a clear mistake. The Council of Trent was concluded under Pius IV not Paul IV. The council never even met during Paul IV's pontificate. I expect better.

Fr Charles There was no British Government as it did not exist in 16 Century. It was created in 1707 with the union of parliaments 104 years after the death of Elizabeth Tudor(1603)

In America, we have this odd belief that "British" means "English". Oddly, I've met Scottish folks that make the same mistake.

John Dee coined the term "British Empire", so the word was in use in Elizabeth's time.
