Life Can Be A Struggle As You Age But Don't Give Up Hope!

There will be things regarding your health as you age you can't evade. So it has come to me to be part of my life yet to be. So I thought to take you along in my journey through one of those that we men will face.

Mr.Tom....I've been there,done that with this prostate, operation on it, very large restriction of my urethra ,yes I get up at night to use the bathroom, I've had cancer in my neck,radiation therapy, chemotherapy,had to use a feeding tube for awhile, medicine for blood clot in leg....BUT THE LORD GOD has healed me! Feeding tube is gone,blood clot gone.. gone, I take no medications... THE LORD GOD HEALS, ALL PRAISE, HONOR, GLORY belongs too HIM! YOU will be just fine, keep your good attitude, I'm by myself also,me and Black lab. I'm 77 years old.

My dad had a high PSA for years and his doctor monitored him closely. When he was 73 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He went through 9 weeks of radiation 5 times a week,he did say it made him tired. He is now 85 and cancer free! I will say a prayer for good results❤❤ Hug the kitten krew!❤

Mr Tom, let me just say one thing. My Dad had an elevated PSA and had hormonal treatment (no surgery) for prostate cancer. He was about 74 or 75 when he was diagnosed. He lived to be 99 years old (2 months short of his 100th birthday.) He even quit the hormonal treatment when he was about 80 (side effects in his view, were not worth the possible risks). I'm not trying to tell you what to do, of course -- just giving some anecdotal testimony that not all surprises are bad ones! 🙂 I'm praying for you, your family, and the kitty krew!

Mr. Tom, you and I seem to be on a parallel path. The end of April I was working in my yard trimming wax myrtles. I missed the last step on the ladder, fell, and broke my left leg and wrist. I had surgery on both, metal rods and screws in both, and was hospitalized for over a week. After 4 painful months of physical and occupational therapy, I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. As soon as I finished therapy, I had a gallbladder attack and was hospitalized again. I had to have surgery to have it removed. I'm a pretty tough 69 year old woman, but it has been a rough 5 months. You are so right - one day at a time with God leading the way. I wish you well on your journey sir.

You will be in my thoughts Mr. Tom. Cancer runs in my family (Lynch syndrome) and what I've learned from them and the cancers they had: Enjoy walking!! Eat what you love to taste. Have a backup plan for someone to take care of the fur kids if you are absent or unable to. Keep a pair of pants a size too small. Never ever give up on God. God guides the Dr.

My Dad had prostate cancer for many, many years. He had the type that was a mass on the outside of the prostate gland, as opposed to being in the body of the gland itself. They had originally wanted to use the radioactive seed method t treat it, but could not because oof the location. He had radiation instead. Treated successfully, he lived to be almost. 90. The kitty krew is looking healthy. It looks like they have their winter coats on! This is definitely information that all men need and their wives/girlfriends/and partners. I'm surprised they aren't going to do a transrectal ultrasound unless that is what you mean by MRI? Praying that you hear nothing but good news at your next visit Mr. Tom. It was nice to hear young kids again--all of them in these parts are sitting inside. I guess? I haven't seen kids on bikes in years lol. It can be a relief to research on the internet and get yourself fully educated. I must admit, though, it does cause me anxiety. I smoked for 25 years, quit 20 years ago--cold turkey. I did a lot of research about prostate cancer for a friend of mine a few years ago, Mr Tom. And the conclusion I found was, was that most men die with prostate cancer, not because of it. That is, men can live a long time with it, managing the symptoms. (I also read a lot of male celebrities have prostate cancer, and carry on working/living without anyone knowing.) I am so glad you are a man of faith, that is so important. I will pray for you every day, please keep us updated even if it only a short video, you don't have to positive all the time either. (And you are right, God has given us gifts/tools to help ourselves as well. Prayer is important but self care is too.

Tom, after my husband had his biopsy the doctor recommended watchful waiting. Testing every three months. His PSA came down into the normal range. Nowadays prostate cancer is quite treatable. It seems that you caught it early enough. God bless you.

I'm 61 soon. It seems my worry subsides about finances or a health issue of moderate concern and another pops up. The knee or the neck etc. Then I go to the store and always see someone else in a wheelchair etc. So like the bible says don't be dismayed when trials come....paraphrasing. Mr Tom, I am sorry that you are facing this journey. IME, the worst is waiting for tests and finding out for sure whether or not it is a cancer journey. Meanwhile, my best advice is to keep busy, tackle that project you've been holding off on, this was how I faced what ended up being an early stage, breast cancer diagnosis last August ('22). As a patient, you take things one step at a time, keep a journal, write down questions as they come up. You will also quickly learn who, amongst friends and yes, even family, you can lean on. I am sorry you are going through this Mr. Tom. My husband (he is 61) has been dealing with a raised PSA also. He has been checked multuple times a year for the last 5 years or so. He has had 3 biopsies in that time. All came back negative. His number right now is 11.4. This number has been pretty steady for the last 2 years. His urologist told him he believes he has an enlarged prostate and that is where his numbers are at this time. He has to stay on top of his blood work. If his numbers creep up to 15 then he needs to been seen again and start the testing again to be sure. I hope and pray this is what is happening with you. I understand how worried you are. I was super worried about my husbands outcome. I still worry but that is who I am. Not many kids would take the time to stop and say hi anymore either. You were blessed today in so many ways.

My two close neighbor guys have both undergone prostate cancer treatment in their mid to late 70s within the past 2 years. Both had radiation and one has hormone therapy in addition and after a recovery of energy period of time they are both out mowing and doing everything they did before and you would never know it unless they told you. I had a MRI yesterday. Back in February of 2021 I had a hysterectomy and they found cancer in one of my lymph nodes so I had to go through chemo and radiation and after all that was done the cancer was gone but came back a year and a half later so I had six more treatments this year and so far I am cancer-free. The MRI was to see if the neuropathy in my feet could be caused by anything else other than the chemo. I hope and pray that you will have good news for us soon.

Hi Mr. Tom. Jerry was diagnosed with prostate cancer but he had an excellant urologist and he and Jerry and i all prayed together. We kept the faith and he beat it with radiation and chemo and our dr and God. It never came back. That day we all celebrated and thanked God Jerry was 75 and he was bleeding internally.
