My loaf turned out perfect. It had the appearance of a professional bread store. I added an extra 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar, and I also added 1 tsp of garlic powder. I made my flour into Self Rising Flour using Baking Powder and Sea Salt. Beautiful texture. Added a few more dice Jalapeno's. I think I am on to something here with a few changes, but a great recipe. Thank you. I did a little research on the Scoring of the bread before baking. It allows the Co2 from the fermentation to be released without putting big gaping hole in your bread. It has a purpose, and it is also cosmetic. I will now try my hand at making a Kalamata Olive loaf using the same technique. Thank you again. I feel like a pro now.

I loved this bread. I added more cheese and added garlic powder to the mix since I am a cheese/garlic lover, rolled the dough in sesame, poppy seed, and garlic salt before putting it in the oven. ..... Wow. It was delicious and just right of heat--dogs loved it too, what beggars!...used it in the toaster, with meats, and the best sop for homemade chicken and noodle soup. I put this in my best artisan breads. Thank you Deep South for sharing!

Wow all these people are saying they made this bread and it turned out so good but me and two other people are trying to make this bread this is my second attempt I lowered it to just one cup of water and a pack of yeast and with the first stretch and fold it just doesn't feel right it comes apart it's not a dough is it possible there's something missing in the recipe?
@DeepSouthTexas2 жыл бұрын
Why did you reduce the amount of water? What flour are you using? 🤠
@XJarhead360 Жыл бұрын
Maybe mixing the ingredients are easy but it's a time-consuming process. For one hour you can't do anything else but fold the dough every 15 minutes four times. Then 2 hours total of letting the dough rise. You're in the kitchen minimum 3 hours. Frankly, it's easier using a bread machine.
