So why don't we see this sort of gameplan very often at the top level? Is it too risky? Is it just not good? Or is it a perfectly acceptable approach?

Mathematicaly best place for heroised citizes are farms. It is almost economicaly viable as training a whole new citizen. It is a bit worse to heroise farmers than having an extra TC.

You played well but it's some real boomer "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" energy doing this video as Gaia. Easiest god to take a second TC with. Have economic advantage by default (2TC or not). Great at handling early skirmishes with Caladria and Carnivora. Hero citizens aren't threatened by early raids and myth units have to run from them (stupid). Can cheese resources outside base with manors, form chokepoints with forest and have the easiest farm transition because of the extra wood gather rate and irrigation in classical. There's a reason this god is so popular and 2TC builds are so common, and it's not because they're fun or interesting. It's because Gaia is the easiest God to do it on and you really have to work hard to throw the eco advantage from that point. Sorry to be negative but do it as Greek or Norse to show how to actually defend because you can't get away with half the stuff in this video as anything but Atlantean. Even right from the start, a minotaur, 2 heroes, scout + then hoplites arriving when you just start building a TC at 5 mins for most Gods would be an instant loss.

Totally understand where you're coming from. I'm not trying to put anyone down here, just trying to show that there is a defensive gameplan to keep you in a game when someone plays hyper aggressive. You might not win every game but if you follow the gameplan you'll definitely come out on top moreso than not.

how is this even a thing when people were playing 2TC and fast heroid/mythic timings all along? seems like hyper aggressive play is perceived as an unbearable threat, when it is not.

I don't get some pro games. I am tired of seems pro players just forgetting that counter units exist. I am 1250 ~ 1300 and ALL my ranked opponents always switch to counter units dancing perfectly... Its 16 min game already by the time I write this messages and it's a Hoplite vs Murmilo game, whaaat?

Weird post, if they're pro and they chose to do this, there's a reason right? If Shelty switched to tox, he has to move his eco around, tech into something else, and then have a unit that is much slower and cant take down buildings. If Boit Goes Cheiro... he cant leave his base with them. Both players know this, in your elo you both just run at eachother and fight for no reason, so of course making the counter units is better, while doing none of the other things that good players do. Probably need to investigate the game and why people do stuff a bit more before trying to claim top 20 players are doing bad things that 1250s just don't' do???

@ nah, you’re wrong. Tox was the right answer to go, no other way. That’s pretty clear. It seems like he just wanted to have some fun with mass hoplites. Doing the right choices include changing eco to dance the counter army battle
