Hey Jim, the US Ford Exlporer is a very different one to the one we have in the UK/Europe. As you stated the European version shares it platform with the VW ID range, but the US version is powered by a mix of 4 and 6 cylinder engines and shares nothing with EU version. Hope you enjoyed your time in the states. 👍🏾

Thank you so much for filming. I went to the LA Autoshow last year and I had to admit that it was the smallest and worst show I have ever seen and now you are saying that this year's show is even worse? YIKES! Last year most of the German brands and a few of the US brands didn't even show up. Before the show standard ticket prices were $25. Six days in I was getting emails from the LA Autoshow that the tickets were discounted down to $10 and $5 off for inside parking. I plan to attend this year as well. I will wait for those discounts...I love a good deal.

The Toyotas are all looking really good these days. I would love the Crown. The Camry previously sold in the UK for a short while was made in Russia and they closed down production in response to the Ukraine war. They do however make it in RHD, because its sold in Australia, so I guess they could bring it to the UK

A great look at a very different world of motoring. Remember that a US gallon is only 80% of our imperial gallon so $4 becomes $5 for a UK gallon. Also, UK car prices include all the taxes whereas those in the US don't. They're still significantly cheaper though. Thanks for all the info.

Great video Jim ! What's going on with the Toyota headlights - they seem to have a sort of aero cover on - does that move when on full beam or is there some other clever tech involved? If not, it seems like they cover the bulk of the light?

When you look at this compared to the recent gigantic Guangzhou show it looks pitiful both in the choice of cars available, that now seem so dated apart from the Hyundai and Kia (though Toyota was pretty good), and the scale of the show. The Chinese brands are years ahead both in styling and technology and it has happened so fast. If they are allowed to sell in the US, they will kill most of the US legacy brands very rapidly. This now seems like a throwback to the past in comparison.
