Today's video covers exercises for degenerative disc disease of the lumbar spine. Degenerative disc disease (DDD) describes a condition in which the discs in our spine (intervertebral discs) lose height and hydration as we age. As the discs degenerate, some of their ability to cushion against force and provide mobility to the spinal joints is lost. Even though this condition is labeled as a 'disease', it is actually something that is normal and associated with the aging process. Furthermore, many people who have signs of DDD have no back pain. In individuals who do experience symptoms, pain may be isolated to the low back region or may cause that travels down one or both legs (radiculopathy). If you have pain that travels down one or both legs, I would recommend trying the exercises in this video and also adding the nerve mobilization exercises from my video on that topic. Wow that was a great explanation of what is happening. I've got too many painful/ chronic diseases that impact most of my joints and a bit scared to do exercise for ddd as it will probably cause more pain in the other parts of my body. New sub here 🍀

Nice video. I know people are understandably asking for neck next, but the same topic for the thoracic spine would be great at one point.

I’ll add that one to the list as well. The exercises in my thoracic mobility video below might be helpful to you. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jH6wY5awhKl4i9Usi=mdQw3GDy0PtvfGWx

Thanks Tom! Recently I have got your book from Amazon as a student of physiotherapy and it opened my eyes for a bunch of valuable points! Jus wanted to thank you over and over again! But I wish there were also a source by you where I could learn and practice the suitable manual therapy including mobilisation, manipulation, MWM with belt, therapeutic massage therapy techniques for common conditions in the physiotherapy as I really feel it’s lacking!

Thank you so much for ordering a copy of my book! I’m glad to hear that you have found it to be helpful so far. I am planning to launch Rehab Science courses and a certification in the future that will include instruction on assessment and manual therapy techniques for each region of the body. It will probably take me a couple of years to finish this process, but I wanted to let you know that it will be coming.

Hlw sir I want to ask you a question. I am suffering from cervical disc bulge problem and I am now recovering slowly . And my question is that after I recover totally and I have no nerve problems and neck pain . Can I back to play sports again?? I am a sports lover and I basically play cricket. So my question is that after my total recovery can I play sports again ??
@RehabScience7 ай бұрын
Yes, many people return to normal life including sports after healing from a cervical disc bulge. Many disc bulges in the neck actually reabsorb and heal, so I wouldn't be surprised if you are able to return to sports in the near future.

Hlw sir I want to ask you a question. I am suffering from cervical spondylitis and I have done my x-ray. And it shows straightning of cervical lordosis. Whenever I move my head side to side and tilt it makes some type of grinding and crunching noises. So my question is that if we have loss of neck cervical curvature does it creates this type of Creepy noises ? And I am doing some exercises to make my Cervical curve back again . And if my curve backs in its own alignment will this noises be stop ?? And how much time it takes to get the curve back ??
