Great job, however I can’t help thinking that it looks like your smuggling a tobelerone in the tail.

looking good man, I used to build my tails out of fiberglass too but recently did an all aluminum tail that turned out pretty sweet. Check out my build on my channel if you get a chance and let my know what you think. Cant wait to see yours all finished. Cheers!

When you're ready to make your gap between the tank and seat, make the gap overly large. Then lay weather stripping on the tank that will give you your 6mm gap. If its a foam tape, just add a layer of clear packing tape as a release. Then use Newtech filler to bridge the gap up to the stripping. Its a mix of carbon fiber and aluminum. Once cured its, well, like aluminum. Far stronger then resin with fiber hair. shop.ehayes.co.nz/newtech-space-age-repairer-924536ga

The rear reminds me of a aprillia rsv4 when looking from behind, 😛 my personal opinion i think u should do the rear lights so it looks the same as rsv4 from behind rather than using the french rear light, love the videos del, what do ya think?

Cool looking tail, the RSV4, but then I'll have a bike that has a tail that looks a bit like an RSV4, not even the real thing, so personally, I'd rather make it unique and different and make my own statement... I don't want any part of this part to be recognisable as a bolt on accessory, well that's the plan at least, and all plans are subject to change when I get to them ! Cheers for your input buddy...

Hi Rikki, it is a pretty punishing schedule, 3 videos a week, and all the admin, but we're out playing on the bikes tomorrow, and Monday bank holiday if the weather holds.. so once we take care of business, we do get out to play.. !

Looking nice Del, won’t the extra layers of fibreglass on the front mount lift the unit up a few mm at the front mate?

It’s looking very nice but I would still have rather seen a nice bit of metal shaping work at the rear end. Rather than fibre glass. Your a demon when it comes to metalwork Del 👍🏻
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Cheers Rich, that's very kind of you indeed and an honour to receive such faith, I wanted to dabble with the fibre glass just to hone a few skills to some degree, I still have some more structure work to do underneath, so will be some deman fabricating work next weekend and a very long session I'd imagine!

I would have used body filler instead of the clay,but ok both methods work,everyone’s an expert hahahahaha your doing a great job
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
No real difference in the result buddy, the clay will dry solid like filler, but the clay's sticky like putty and was good for lifting up the strut and holding it in place, I feel the body filler would maybe not have been as good as that, but I may be wrong...! Thanks for your input my friend... I love that people are engaged with this build !

Hi Del & Penny. Although I've never attempted this kind of work (!), I am staring at the ends of those nice smooth alloy cross tubes encased in hard f/glass & thinking 'lateral loads'. eg. nasty mid-bend bumps when you've got one knee down & the other hooked over the far side of the seat, tankslappers of the wagging kind, & those naughty little hi-sides that don't quite fetch you off, but do send your toecaps up to smack into each other above your head. Apart from that (& bump starting a flat battery without having a 'Toblerone moment' in the nether regions), it's coming along nicely & fascinating to watch. Have a good one : ) x
