You got the ring in the paint because you didn't seal in all the existing edges by priming before you applied the basecoat.

It's not that it wasn't important Del, it's that you made up some comment that wasn't true. If you don't know, just say bud as people who do know see straight through that sort of thing. I'm not disrespecting you bud but you do that sort of thing quite a lot. It spoils your otherwise great content.

Not long come across your channel, currently living/working overseas(from the UK) came to you via Bonneville search and now hooked watching the rest of your Vids. Trying to find one here(middle east) is like the proverbial rocking horse poo😂 Have to tip my hat to you fella, jumping in and giving things a go even if not your strength. Some paintwork tips: Guide coat before flatting your primer, the ring was caused by the solvents in the basecoat reacting to a layer of the paint that was incompatible(always seal with a high build primer). Gloss black would be better than silver, as it shows the defects better. Keep up the great work. P.S. Much prefer the new tail end, I couldn't see how the "toblerone" fitted in with the lines of the bike.

That is looking sexy bruv. Morning del and penny. I have been watching the progress bit in 5 minute pieces. What with work and the misses being I'll I don't get the time at the moment. Had a good binge watch last night and this morning and I must say it's looking better than beforehand even with the old artpiece that was removed. The old tail section was nice but this one is even nicerer 😁. Loving the new format for the same reason as a lot of us are. We can see a lot more being done. Keep up the excellent work I'm looking forward to seeing it finished and on the road. Keep up the great work both of you and pat yourselves on the back. Sire I doff my cap to you. Just a heads up Del. The MOT regs have changed and you can no longer have integrated indercators and brake light. Have a word with your MOT guy and just make sure. I have followed this build and I really want to see it on the road this year. So you may have to make a temp bracket to hold indercators and then revert back to the integrated. Best of luck and a amazing job. P.s. liking the new format. Would love more but we have lives and jobs so it's understandable. Amazing work as always 😁
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, thanks buddy, not intending to put the indicators anywhere near the brake light, the brake and tail light are on their own in the rear there, and I've a cunning plan for the indicators! Thanks for the heads up though, it's always good to keep up with the rules... appreciated!

You're getting there and an un-cluttered rear end looks so much better than the usual bike rear but what are you going to do about indicators and a reg plate/light/reflector, basically all the crap required for an mot and 'police stop' free biking? Ps admire your patience when it comes to sanding down
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Andrew, keeping the indicators under wraps, got something cunning planned and it's not going in the tail, or on the swing arm! Will slip a plate between the undertray and the tail in that top line, I can use LED number plate screws and a stick on reflector to keep the bronze at bay! Thanks for your kind support buddy ...

Hi Dell, what do you have in mind regards a seal betwixt the undertray meets tail piece Super video caught a pink Floyd reference
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Warren.. im going to rethink that undertray, its going to be impossible to use that steel item without it ending up weighing too much... i have a few other plans, but with so many little jobs to knock off still, ill come back to it when i have a firm plan.. chain guard this weekend.. making it from scrap, and wanted to challenge myself to see if i could take it from scrap materials to a painted and finished (fitted) item in 6 hours.. did 3 hours last night after work, and doing three more this morning... then ill edit and upload the footage hopefully in time for this evening.. wish me luck..!!

@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Light/shadow possibly, but it's not bolted down level, it was only 'thrown' on there, the whole panel sits on 4 rubber bungs, half a turn off the left, and half a turn on the right, and that would tilt it level ... not of it's permanently fitted, as it all has to come off this week for more work, hoping to start it up in the next video!

Hi buddy, the only time I've seen people delete reservoir, is either to use the old GP trick of a 3" clear tube in place of the reservoir with a plug in the end of it, or alternatively, switching over to a cast type where it's all in one solid, moulded, alloy block... hope that helps in some way buddy.... and what a small world, glad you enjoy enjoyed seeing your old home!!

It's not always possible to make full, in depth explanations of each thing, there are always exceptions of course, yes you can sand far finer papers on harder materials like 2k and fully cured clear coat, but this was soft filler primer and as you saw with the wire brush action I had to take, it was even clogging 80grit filler paper! Thanks for your input buddy, much appreciate the head up ...

Great work, Del! I've been busy for a while now, and behind on vids, but have to say that I like this tail-piece so much better that the first, and that light looks fantastic! I'll have to search back and find out what this new format is all about. ATB to you both!!
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Allen, the new format is nothing sinister, just briefly put, we used to make 3 videos a week, usually 2 on the build and then something alternative on the Sunday, but the editing time for that was extremely heavy going , we've now changed to 2 videos a week, sometimes it'll be focused on the project, other times, alternative stuff, but we plan to put the same progress, and content, in to the few videos, so sometimes the videos might be physically longer, others time they'll be shorter in play time, but contain lots of progress, in short basically we're gonna get more done in less videos to cut down in editing time which as been keeping us out of the garage !

Very true my friend, and by that I mean , you can never please everyone... in fact I often feel that some people don't want to be pleased by what they see, they want to find challenge in it and get fulfillment from contradicting and correcting, so to them we're happy to oblige too! Thanks for your support, it's very kind of you...

I love that intro outro music, really nice. The tail looks so cool Delboy, very smart, well done. Now enjoy riding the lovely thing. One bit of thought with the under tray though, have two tidy sized nuts and boots holding it all on, just to be sure, and put them I laces that are not gonna be a pain in the ass to do up / undo. Great work as always.

i love your channel and love your bikes but please stop acting like you know everything, you can dry sand the whole proccess, evenn at polishing stages, 600 upwards it is usualy wet sanding but to wet sand at 240 is crazy. that said, keep up the good work dell

Not for one moment buddy, I guess, like the rest of the creators out there, I should temper every statement I make with 'this is what I do, this works for me, you do what works for you', but so often I just forget and get on with it... you are right, I know you can sand hard paint, like 2k, or clear coat, with dry paper up to even 800 without clogging, but if you watch in the video, I had that yellow aluminum oxide paper and was having to wire brush it out every few minutes, I think that was evident and that was 120 grit.. this is super soft filler primer from a rattle can and it clogs for a past-time I should have made that point... sorry ! Thanks for the feedback buddy, appreciate your kind words, and your support, have a good weekend, Del

Moonfleet41 a good tip in body shops is to use a fine grade Scotch pad to clean your papers, people often use their jeans but this can contaminate the paper. Have you looked into getting an orbital sander for the smoother faces, maybe using an interface pad aswell. For someone that doesn't do body work you've done a smashing job. I reckon with abit of practice you could do a good custom job by yourself. You've certainly got a good eye for it. Again, always love your videos, someone from the BBC should send you a blue Peter badge for sure

Moonfleet41 you should do a cheap nasty mods video and get as many crappy items off ebay amazon or wish and jokingly test them out. I know alot of bikers on a budget would enjoy that. You can get cheap tint for lights, cheap grips, cheap indicators etc. Could make for a funny episode. My favourite so far was you two drinking painting flames, great fun.

Hey buddy, thanks for your kind words... I actually learned the wire brush trick from my ol' man 30yrs ago for when the filler paper clogs up with primer... I do have an air fed DA sander, you may have seen it in some earlier videos, but it's 150mm pad and not a lot of use for this curvy panel, in fact that's what those brown circular sanding discs are for, they are the Velcro back type, and as I had a couple of packs of them I just used them for this on the foam blocks... also the airf fed DA sander is a bloody nightmare, it blows dust absolutely everywhere and you end up looking like a Homepride Flour Grader lol Just learning as I go mate, am trying to teach myself new skills, I don't care whether I'm brilliant at it, I just get a great pride in doing stuff myself, even if I have to go the long way round (which I usually do lol).... !

Moonfleet41 yup, just down the road and around the corner from the restaurant, walking distance. In fact I need to thank you for making that video of the bike pickup. I got to know Andeep, the owner of the kitchen because of that, and he and his wife have become great friends of ours as a result. My nephew has already booked his 7th birthday dinner there, he can’t get enough of the Kathmandu Chicken (my favourite too), and gets kitchen tours each time he goes. You’d love to see the bike that sits in the entrance (where the sportster was) when not being ridden, a 2.3l custom Harley chop with a 330 back tyre...
