Great job man! I would go with a rounded down tail fairing like the bmw rr9t though but that's my taste! Also I think at least a single hole at the side of the tail would complete the "holyness" :P of the bike. [P] Looking great with that new tail buddy. The front fender and even the belly pan suited the previous tail perfectly, but now the smaller lighter tail is on, I reckon your idea of trimming down the front mudguard is a good one. Maybe look at making the belly pan look a little more lightweight too if you can. Top job...very jealous!
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Thank Chris, you,re too kind mate.. its been useful to bolt it all on for a look round, as you can see, the front mudguard does need a little trim, but not too much as i intend to add some bodywork to the back yet, and that should balance out the visual weight.. i like the belly pan so much as it is, its cool that it is recognisable as a tank, and i wouldn't want to lose that.! so lets see how it looks once the muddy is trimmed and the back hugger is on..! take care mate and have a great weekend.... Looking great there! Hmm. With the frenched holes in the front mudguard and belly pan, the theme kinda needs to continue into the tail? Perhaps when you make the under tray there could be a "lip" each side, cut to follow the line of the tail with matching holes in it? In other words, making the under tray a sort of upside down squared off "U" shape in section if you get what I mean. Perhaps if you did that, the front mudguard might look ok as is instead of cutting it down?
@Moonfleet41

Looks fantastic, Del... Really loving this series. Subscriber for many years, first comment. It's a long story, but I actually became a mechanic partially thanks to you. 2 years in the trade now, making decent money, enjoying playing with my hands everyday. Cheers! I agree with you on the front mudguard. I also have some sort of hang up with the headlight cowl. It looks really good, but it almost feels too easy to see that it's just a tank turned upright. Maybe that's okay! A revealing nod to what you've done with the rest of the bodywork. But the rest looks so crafted, designed, accentuated, unique. Maybe adding a few more bends and curves, scoops and shapes to the cowl? Or maybe it's fine as is... Just a thought. Happy wrenching. :)

Thanks buddy, how cool to hear you got in to the trade, and hope you're enjoying your new career! Remember never get too busy being a technician that you forget to be a mechanic, here's always an easy solution round things if you think sideways, thanks for your kind words on the bike, at the moment all the bodywork is blank and grey, but the paint will make all the difference, stick with it buddy, I'll get there !

Hi Del/Penny - well well well - what can I say.... f*****g awesome. Agree with the front guard but the one thing that i kept looking at, and i know you have plans for this was the exhaust. It just kept drawing my attention away from the rest of the bike, problem been i couldn't make my mind up if i liked/disliked it. Anyway bang on build so far fella, sweet lines, doesn't look over aggressive ( ie loads of right angles and pitching up body work) but already you can see its going to have a "wow" factor. Love it mate. Have a good'n - have fun keep safe - cheers Nige
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Nige... thanks for your kind words buddy, it has been a great journey so far, and ive learned a lot along the way (which was kind of the point of the project).. The exhaust is the least to worry about at the moment, it works, and thats fine.. i just want to get all the jobs knocked off and get the bike on the road, i still have the under tray to build and a hugger too.. that will add some visual weight to the back to balance out the front, so the mudguard only need trim at best.... stick with it buddy ill get there in the end.. Have a great weekend mate.. Del.

@funkycowie 6 жыл бұрын
I agree the front end does look too heavy however it matches the undertray in heaviness so you either add something to the swing arm, possibly spray to silver and add a rear mud guard, or remove some of the undertray and the mudguard.

Just as my own personal opinion only to help and not to harm. but maybe half the number of holes,or maybe a slightly different shape? and to smooth them out a bit too. and think mudguard could lose 2" back and front. but it is looking beautiful, think the back is better looking than 90% of bikes out there. keep it up man come so far cant slow down now !

@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy, you're very kind, that is a compliment indeed! Had to bolt it together to stand back and take a look, not to unhappy with it myself... I agree on the mud guard, it's a little too big, but room for improvement always !

Hi Del and Penny, Breathtaking quality with the build view, I reckon better to be there in the flesh, you have worked so hard I almost don't want to say but the belly pan is a bit heavy, looks strong enough to withstand the end of the world, but I reckon the rest of the machine style is lighter and stealthy Mud guard too could do with a revision! As in my humble opinion those pieces both look a bit heavy, I could not do any better but I reckon you are a perfectionist and I thought I'd point to it. Not far to go. Love and respect Warren Like I have said, you have worked extremely hard so this is no snipe, The exhaust project you rescheduled can wait but I reckon that will enhance the stance
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Warren.. thanks buddy.. i think you're right.. the front mudguard is just plain too long.. but im not so sure it needs that much taken off, just brought into proportion with the rest.. i do love the belly pan, and the issue with cutting it much more is that it will no longer look like the fuel tank that it is. and i wanted that to show and be a feature.. i think a little extra furniture on the BACK end, ,aye serve to balance things out... i do see your point.. but she still needs a huger at the back.. i fancy mounting the plate on that 'German Stylee" rather than on the tail, so that extra visual weight may help balance out the belly pan.. im really lothe to cut that much more, same as the nose cone, i wanted that heavy, brooding front end look..muscular and beefy like Butch the Dog from Tom&Jerry..lol

Moonfleet41 Hi Del, at the end of the day it is always in the eye of the beholder, so I bow gracefully to thee, I acknowledge the Quality of your art and withdraw the earlier hastily uttered opinion shared, this due to the proposed changes, cha cha change's ( sorry my friend, I could not resist) Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I withdraw my early opinion and reserve future judgement until (with your leave) I see the completed piece! Love and respect Warren

No trouble brother, you're absolutely right, eye of the beholder and all that, think Honda have been trying to years to build bikes everybody loves, and all they've managed to achieve is the blandest brand on the market... am dealing with the extra work I've gotta do on the tail, and the additional furniture that that needs, and then once that's added it's visual weight to the rear, I can judge the front in comparison and trim as needed... !
@warrengray610
@warrengray610 6 жыл бұрын
Moonfleet41 Dell that's all cool and the gang! I have had Honda's and the engineering is undeniably solid ( mostly!) But I seem to have settled, with Kawasaki, saying that though I did own one of the old style Yamaha Fazer 600 that was pretty nifty in every way! if I had my way I'll probably have an MV Agusta F4, Hey I can dream, I just Saw 1 in the window of a shop in Wandsworth Town and fell in love with it mind you it was in a more affluent part of town, but hey there were no signs up preventing me from dreaming drooling in the window and having a Wayne's World moment, it shall be mine it will be! Your build is quite something! But if you can forgive me for my hasty comments ,I will look forward to your space time continum! With your leave, I must away any study the much maligned subject of AC motors! Kind regards Warren

Hey Del , and of course Penny, do what you feel is right with the front mudguard mate but please reconsider your thoughts on the under seat exhaust , can’t for the life of me see why you want to fundamentally change the look of what is already a very distinct and good looking bike for something that has already been done and in all honesty is probably gonna look worse than the challenge it’s about to present you with . That shorty pipe sounds great and treated to a coat of black paint will blend in with the swing arm and frame an absolute treat . Why not Give it the rest of the summer and revisit it later if your not happy with it rather than doing all that extra work now . Btw, that sidestand bolt was a stroke of genius . C
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlie.. thank you so much for that cool feedback, i agree, the underseat exhaust not kinda looks like it would make the back end heavier both physically and in looks.. i still have a bit to do yet, undertray for the seat unit, and a hugger for the back wheel, i was thinking maybe the German fighter style wrap around ones with the number plate mounted on it to keep the tail totally naked..? but its all coming together, trimming the front mudguard is next, i dont think it needs much because the things ill add to the back will balance it out a bit too... Take care and have a great weekend.. all te best, ,D&Px

I dont think the front mudguard is large. The proportions you have developed are similar to the Brutale 800. Makes the front wheel very prominent. Also the size of it compliments the tank belly pan. More space to do the artwork, which to can visually make stuff look larger or smaller.

Thank you so much Cardude, thats great insight, i hadn't thought of it that way, and what an honour to compare it to a Brutale, Thank you..?

That'll be a 'pass' for the side-stand then! . . . Excellent video too, beautifully put together - well done all. (I'd maybe leave the front end alone until the U-shaped 'Delbrook Can' is finally grafted up around her botty? : )

I think the headlight cowl, mudguard and belly pan are too heavy looking and the design doesn't really the in with the rear end. Just my personal opinion though. Great effort on this build though 👌

Del, I keep moaning on the 'TMF's' review videos about shite front mudguards. Finally, a manufacturer who produces a 'proper' mudguard. (YUO!!). Disagree about the size, leave it be, i think the proportions are awesome. Kindest regards. A82 Joe.

Front mudguard needs shortening at the front and I think the bike would look miles better with either a round headlight or a few LED bars
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris, yeah a few people have said a round headlight, its not something i ever considered.. but i can see your point.. i wanted to keep the bike looking unique, thats why i ruled out twin headlights.. but maybe something like a headlight from the Gen2 V-max would look bitchin... ill have to see as the budget has already gotten a bit our of control... i like the nose cone for its unique and fresh look... but i want the bike to look the best it can be once its all done... thanks for your feedback mate,, it all helps.. Del.

Well brother this is how it goes, you build you step back change something for the better something else looks a bit off now so you change that etc etc until it all falls in place ..THIS IS WHY WE DO IT!! Your skills have come on leaps and bounds since this project started and I for one have learned some great tips along the way from your exploits..so thank you Del once again. I'll say it again , we never stop learning ! Peace and love to you and PP xx ☮❤

Ayup brother Springy, I have to agree with that, we learn every day...! This build has been expressly for the purpose of learning new stuff and improving old skills, the fact I've got a bike at the end of it is purely secondary...! Have a great weekend buddy, stay in touch, D&Pxx
