One thing that’s quite important is that if you lay the bike up for a lengthy period, it’s best to make sure the valves aren’t at the bottom of the wheel when it’s parked because the goo collects around it and if you check your tyre pressures sometime later the goo can clog up the valve and stop it sealing properly. It’s no fun loading up your bike for a big trip to find the tyre flat at 5am when you have a ferry to catch.

Hi Del, I put Goop in my rear tyre when I first viewed this vid, I took the bike in for a tyre change, this weekend, and they informed me I'd had a puncture at some point and the Goop had sealed it. So thanks again mate for the advise.

Hi mate.. the stuff never dries out, in the tyre it stays liquid and moves about then if a hole is made, it flows into the hole and seals it without you even knowing..dont ask me how it works, but i can confirm that it does..as long as the hole is no more then about 3mm its fine..any bigger and it will serve only to slow the rate of deflation to allow you time to stop safely and avoid a blowout..its meant to work in all tyre applications so it says!..good luck on your trip, ride safe, Del

I used a similar sealant (DG's Prevent a Flat here in Australia) in the rear tyre of my CB500X after noticing a puncture. I put the sealant in and re inflated the tyre and it sealed instantly. I commute 230kms per day at 110kph and the sealant lasted the life of the tyre (18,000kms) and even plugged up another puncture a year later before I wore out the tyre. I highly recommend these sealants for us riders as they prevent so much messing around road side.

No mate, it's not - Tyre Weld is an expanding foam that you inject into a punctured tyre at the roadside to get you home... this is a gel which lives in the tyre all the time and is designed to plug the hole when it occurs and seal and I can say from numerous experiences it works!

Hi buddy, sounds strange, hope it works out, if not then take a look at the bead seals as unless they were fitted using a proper tyre fitting soap which seals the beads at the same time, then they can weep out through there ... good luck with it!

Hi DELBOY. Just a Harley Sportster, iron,883, scorcher tyres, had it 4 weeks from new got a nail in back tyre, Im told i need a new tyre at £220 +, would using this stuff do anything to un balance the wheel, tyre I have noticed the dealer has put weights to balance the wheel on the inside rim, everyone tells me you can't repair or plug a bike tyre, i have watched your other vids about the plug repair, very impressed, thank you for very informative viewing, Dave
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 9 жыл бұрын
David Gill If you have already got a puncture then this sealant fluid wont help you...it needs to be in the tyre before you get a nail....you can plug the tyre from the inside by removing it, as long as its pretty much in the middle...and the tyre needs to come off to do that, most tyre shops will do this service for you for a pretty reasonable price....many people take the pious view that you cant plug tyres....and they usually change that view when its suddenly THIER tyre that gets a nail....lol

I used a similar product in my tires a few years ago. After a long drive in some pretty extreme conditions I noticed a hissing sound when I stopped. My tire was completely shredded and I was lucky it hadn't completely blown while I was on the road. I was lucky to find a tire shop still open and I was told it was very possible that the sealant itself had caused the damage. I don't this product today and wouldn't in a motorcycle tire for sure.

Hi Alex..it sounds to me buddy like you've just worn the middle out...too much wrist off the lights or too many straight line miles...im afraid back tyres on bikes tend to wear out in the middle first,. and unless you ride solely considerate of your tyres then they will wear sooner or later...and 4k miles for a back boot is by no means bad or premature. you could eat through it in a lot less than that..when you replace it, why not consider a "Dual Compound" tyre that has a harder middle section.

I think you mean the sensors that tell you the pressures..?... if so, then i believe they fit on the rim away from the goop..this stuff gets obviously spun to the outer side by centrifugal force...and also its totally non toxic and water soluble..so there are no corrosive chemicals in it....so in theory it certainly should be ok...but i cant say without knowing for sure...the best people to check wioth is the sensor manufactureres... Never heard that one before...or maybe you rode over a nail and the sealant prevented a blowout by deflating slower (as its designed to do)....but still, why trust anyone else when a Tire shop (who want to sell you tires) tells you it knows best......trust the man who TAKES your money....not the man who SAVES you money....thats the way aye..!
@Moonfleet41

If your tyre already has some nails in it, then its too late, you have to have it in the tyre before the nail goes in....but once you have a new tyre...no, it wont effect handling at all, and you can buy it from many suppliers in the internet...look up "Goop" for a start..thats a good brand.

Hi there, NO - it certainly does not - it strictly only for tubeless tyres as it only seals the hole in the tyre - you need to take the inner tube out and repair that in the conventional way ...!

No, nothing, it rode just the same as before right up to 90+... the liquid moves about and actually forms a balancing agent...same idea as "Dynabeads"...

Thanks for the answer. After 15 years of various tubeless type bikes I recently purchased this one with tubes and now I'm stuck with roadside recovery cover because I haven't the slightest idea how I'd take the wheel off and fix a flat alongside a busy motorway, like I used to do with tubeless tyres. :/
@opmike343

All tires are going to flatten somewhat in the middle if you spend a lot of time riding in a a straight line. I'd worry less about the profile and more about how close you are the wear indicators that are molded into the tread pattern. If you are not at the wear indicators, just keep the tires on the bike. Also, keep an eye on tire pressures. Under-inflated tires will wear more quickly.

I did the same thing on my tubles tire of my 2001 softtail. After years of riding it was time to get a new tire. The tire was actually glued to the rim, apparently from slowly leaking around the edges. I always had to be air it up before riding. The sealent inside was still liquid. I had to cut the tire in half & peal it off the rim as I couldn't get a tire iron inserted around the edges to remove it. For my new tire I installed a tube with the new tire & don't think I'll use tire sealent again

The manual is only going to list what the bike was specced to have installed from factory. Tire technology is constantly moving forward the manufacturers often factor in COST when the decide what tires to put on a bike. The Dunlop D220 is a prime example of this. I suggest you ignore the recommended tire in the manual, and just pick out a quality sport touring tire like a BT-023, Pilot Road 2/3, Pirelli Anglel, etc.

haha that made my day! There are many haters of tyre sealants, strangely not the people on the side of the road unable to get home! It won't seal every hole mate, about 6mm is about it's absolute limit, and even then it won't seal every time, but thankfully most punctures will be a lot smaller than that, and you'll be fine... ride safe!

Moonfleet41 well I recently spent 300 USD on a new tire.. 1 week later I get a tiny puncture and the shop said they don’t fix sport bike tires for liability reasons so I had to buy a whole new tire! 😡 So if this stuff stops that from happening again then I’m on board. @xdelboy3000 You're quite right mate, it does only seal holes up to about 4mm, but anything bigger i would not have patched anyway, thats time for a new boot..... plus, like i said in the video, if you ride over a large sharp object that rips your tyre open, then fluid naturally expelles slower than air, thus helping to prevent a catastrophic blow out. .. some like it some dont, Me,? i have always used it and it has saved me a break down more than once.. Cheers for your input fellah, Del.

Does it cause unbalanced tyre after it settles or does it stay where it needs to be, my idea is that you need to let wheel spin for so long to seal it but what if you leave bike to sit for any period of time you’d have to get the tyre spinning all over again?

I ride fairly conservatively, although I do do a lot of miles and there are some long straight lines in some of those journeys. So despite there being oodles of tread left on it I guess I should just accept that they are worn and start looking to replace. "Dual Compounds" - you took the words right out of my mouth, I only learnt about those recently, but they sound like the way to go. Should I replace both tyres as a pair, or can I get away with just replacing the rear? The front still looks ok?

apart from removing the valve, how do you know if it already has sealant in the tyre? i got some GOOP today, but no wondering if I should wait to change the tyre or put it in. Is there any potential risk putting GOOOP in on top of existing GOOP?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 7 жыл бұрын
Yes there is a danger that you'd have too much product in there, there is a measured quantity for any given size of tyre... take the valve core out and if there is any already in there,. then it will probably spit some out as the air rushes out... thats the only way you can tell id say..!!! hope that helps.. Sadly mate, it's bad news... there is no pump in sealant of any kind that works on tube tyres... any that claims that they do, they must be using different tubes as I've tried them all over the years and the only thing that works is patching the tube by taking it out... the best suggestion I can make, is to make sure you've got breakdown cover with roadside recovery... sorry to bear bad news, but I'm sure you would prefer the truth!

@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 7 жыл бұрын
No not at all Steve, you can still let the tyre all the way down as the valve is on the inside wall of the metal rim.. the tyre sealant sits stuck to the inside of the tyre itself..! you're only putting a layer in around the inside of the rubber, its no thicker than maybe half inch all the way round..

Would you know if high temperatures (which you usually find in Croatia..) are going affect the performance of this product (perhaps it is not recommended for touring bikes or where tyres get hotter than usuall)? Also, how long does it take for the sealant to dry off (inside the tyre)? Thanks in advance for your reply

It's a dual compound tyre, so hopefully i'll get more out of them. No Johan, there are no bad side effects, it wont seal any hole unless air is rushing through it..and it has to be about 3mm at most too, any bigger and the gel just pours out.......so even in a massive catastrophic failure that would have been a blow out, the gel will slow doe the deflation so you can stop safely...!

I wouldn't bother with this. It just leaks out the puncture hole and I've a tiny puncture hole in my 190 tyre. It may seem to work at first but you'll see it leaking out the hole and the air pushing the slime out. I had hoped the slime would set in the tyre but it doesn't. It's better to get a plug that's what I'm going to get now. The only good thing is it continuously showes you where the puncture hole is as it's bright green.

Hi David, good question indeed as the two don't go together.. the dyna beads are a balancing product, they need to shift around the inside of the tyre dry in order to do their job... if you gum them all up with gel then they'll just sit in a clump and cause problems, so if you have dyna beads fitted, then buy yourself and external fit emergency plug kit... I have a couple of videos of these on the Channel... !

hi, just wondering, does the liquid in the tyre mess with your tyre balancing?

Do all your videos go so smoothly? I have followed your advice and done both my tyres. Bought a new foot pump and destroyed it lol. Just fell to bits on the second tyre. Lucky for me there is a tyre place at the top of my street so they umped it up for me. Any chance you have any bloopers for us. Great video keep up the great work.

Hi, one question: I used to my tube tyres similar product (Oko East) but now when its colder (Around 0°C)it happens me more time that after pleasure measurement valve leave air. when I than take valve off there was some from this product (hard) did it happens also to you?
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 8 жыл бұрын
+Polárka Zlo Hi there, Yes you can suffer a leak from the valve, sometimes the gel sticks it open a little... the best way to fix this is to use an airline, have the vale half way up the wheel not at the bottom, and blow some air in before you check pressure, this will clear away the gel that blocks it... thne measure again and it will be fine... hope that helps... Del.

Would slime be worth a try for a slow puncture, approx 6 months ago I had a brand new front tyre fitted professionally, but after its winter of approx 3 months break its lost 20 psi! Can not see any puncture visually.

Have you pumped it up on a daily basis and used it again?? A tyre will lose pressure over 3 months, and sometimes, just going back in to use, day to day, and keeping the pressure up correctly, can re-seal it... try that first and see how it goes, usually works!

Hi great videos you got there , can you tell me if I should put slime in my tyres. I have fixed my puncture with a plug twice but there is a slow leak coming out of it so im thinking maybe I should add the slime and it will fix the leak completely ? thanx

Hi mate, if you have two plugs in your tyre and it's still leaking, then I would replace the tyre... clearly those plugs have not sealed and they are only safe if they completely plug the puncture first time... adding a gel solution may well seal it, but it is hardly the correct way to go ahead when you already have two leaks that don't seal... sounds like time for a new tyre my friend!

Hey Del, You're thoughts would be appreciated here - itoday I noticed that a flat band around the centre of my rear tyre is developing!! The profile of the tyre is no longer round it's now squared off in the middle and a distinct peak has formed either side of the flat section where it meets the round edge of the tyre. This bothers me slightly, as there's still at least 3mm or more of tread on the tyre, they are the original tyres and have only covered 4000 miles. 1 month ago I put goop in???

Hello! I know you've uploaded this video a very long time ago,but I've tried out the product mainly because of your review!! :) I've bought new tyres on my bike and I need to ask you a question....So....previously I had this exact product in my tyres.The mechanic who've changed them, told me to don't spend my money and time on these products,because they're not that good as they sound. He showed me a picture of a rim,which was rusted from the inside because of this stuff. And when he took off my tyres,he showed them to me to check what kind of protecting coating I have inside! The product wasn't spreaded on all tyre surface,just a little bit exactly in the middle. He said if I will get a puncture and it's not going to be in the middle,this product is useless and a waste of time and money! My question would be if you've noticed any difference on the interior of your rim when you've changed the tyres or it was perfectly fine?! Should I buy again and maybe put just a bit more to have all the interior of the tyre covered? Or I should buy an emergency tyre repair kit and leave it as it is? My mechanic advised me to buy the emergency puntcure repair kit...Any advise? Thank you

GiXXerRiderUK That's way to much for someone to take the time to read! What if it is in the middle and what if it isn't? It depends in the circumstances, it will work with small punctures unless it demolishes the tire.

ITS GOT NOTHING TO DO WHERE THE GOOP SITS IN THE TYRE, ITS ALL ABOUT THE CHANGE IN PRESSURE, IE THE HOLE FROM A PUNCTURE, THE GOOP WILL TRAVEL TO THE HOLE AS THE PRESSURE WILL RELEASE IT AND THE GOOP THEN SEALS IT

@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 8 жыл бұрын
+rjbing23 Yes, indeed, the product is not bio-degradable, so should remain stable, however, if the bike has stood for some time, then upon first ride, you may feel slight vibration as the fluid may have 'pooled' at the bottom, but don't worry, this will soon be re-distributed evenly round the tyre once you begin riding again!

Hi Del, long story short, I thought I'd try to fit my own tyres, sick of paying through the nose but have a rear that is losing pressure, I tried a new valve insert but that didn't help, I watched this video and have put some goop in, 250ml. It's a 190 tyre and is still losing pressure, I wonder if I've damaged the bead on the new tyre. It was seriously hard to get in the wheel. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Hi James, Good to hear from you mate, If you fitted the tyre without a bead soap/sealant, then it could be leaking out past the rim.. the guy i use always uses a thick waxy soap to help the new tyre slip over the rim, and once in position it sets like a wax and se;ls the edge... leaking past the bead is common if you fitted it dry..... if you can take the wheel out and have a container big enough to dunk the wheel in (just deep enough to submerge the bead) you'll soon see the leak if there is one.! if not, then even spreading a finger wipe of washing up liquid into the bead edge can work.. if its leaking you'll see it bubble out..! Hope that helps mate, i know how annoying that can be.. good luck with it.. Del.
@JamesMcCreadie71
@JamesMcCreadie71 6 жыл бұрын
thanks Del, I used window spray because the correct soap hadn't arrived but have the tyre soap sitting there now, I could break the bead and brush some of that on and then re inflate it, what do you reckon? Thanks for your time.
@Moonfleet41
@Moonfleet41 6 жыл бұрын
Aha, then that'll be it.. if you don't have a puncture, then its be the bead for sure. they never seal well without the proper soap... ill wager a beer on it that it will fix it first time mate..! Good luck.. Del.

Hi Del, I broke the bead off my tyre, got the tyre right off the seat, brushed the seal on the bead then went to a petrol station and popped it back on its seat, did 50 miles and seems okay, I will check the pressure tomorrow morning, I noticed though, the goop thinks it has a puncture when I took the valve insert out and now I can't pump the tyre with a foot pump, needs compressed air now, I must have spent an hour pumping to 25psi, 1 leg is like Bill Gates, the other like Geoff Capes.

***** Ayup Brother, So good to hear from you again, ive meant to get in touch for a few weeks, see how you are mate... I did have an XR1200x, and it was indeed a good bike right after the Fatboy that i traded for it, mainly because it was a bit less likely to grind lines in the road every time i took a corner lol....but after about three months i got so bored with it, it turned out to be no more than a Sportster with fat wheels, which, after all, is all they are.... its still got a Sportster frame, engine, and power delivery....its no Buell mate i can tell you, 250+kg and 75bhp....TBH Wayne, forget it, they are shite mate, you'll be overtaken by 600 Bandits and in terms of style, outclassed by 883 Huggers.... if you want a Harley that can Piss the Power Rangers off, then get a Buell 1125R... they are outragous, and really cheap right now... Hope that helps mate, sorry if its not what you wanted to hear, but thats the bare assed truth of that bike, you couldn't give me one these days, not even if it had Vicki Peterson sitting on it... I was gonna ask if you can still do number plates too matey, i need a couple for two of the bikes in the garage...happy to pay for them chap, i can get you the details of what we need...let me know buddy.. all the best... Hi mate, thank you so much for your great support, we only promote things that YOU can use and benefit from, i don't big up companies for their benefit, but if they are a proper company and doing a great job, giving a great service and making the bike community a better place... then they need to be known about...people trust an unrelated and unbiased opinion, and real life honest reviews on things is hard to find on the tube... As for an advertising exec.. well i wish.. some day maybe.. nobody ever paid us to say anything for them, or promote a single thing just because they told us to....the things we say are our own views and feelings... and if that helps a company succeed, then that's because they deserve to...who knows, maybe some day our ship will come in, but till then, we're just spreading the love to our fellow bikers...take care and thanks fo wathincg... all the best, Del.
