Your cassava root looks so fresh and much easier to peel than what I can usually buy here. It doesn't grow in this colder climate, so it has to travel far. One of my favorite vegetables!

@@Bbrock1984 I like them much better than potatoes! And they can be prepared in such similar ways. I usually don't get them to the point of frying or making a potato-type salad because I start by "just tasting" them after they've been boiled, then scarfing them down in toto.

@oi-nf9uz Жыл бұрын
English speakers change between yuca and casava. But sometimes they pronounce it the same as the name of a desert shrub called yucca (which is eaten like sugarcane).
@grovermartin687413 күн бұрын
@@oi-nf9uz Here in central New York State, in the grocery stores it is labeled yuca. I am told that yuca is what it is called in Puerto Rico, so that may be what it's called in Cuba and the Caribbean islands. The botanical name is cassava, but also manihot, from which tapioca is made, from the somewhat confusing reading I've done. The most important thing I've read is, that it is CRITICALLY IMPORTANT to boil the tubers in water to COVER! And to throw the cooking water away after! Cassava/yuca naturally contains poisonous cyanide.
