Great review! Though your thoughts kind of pushed me away from the 99 Classics. While I mostly listen to electronic music, I wouldn't want to invest on a pair of headphones that exacerbates the lows too much... My other alternatives would be the gunmetal Audio Technica ATH-MSR7B and the Denon AH-MM400. I know, vastly different sound signatures but they all have a common trait: Nice looks that will make me want to put them on, instead of picking the easy way of putting my (trashy) TWS on.

If you're comfortable with EQ though, I think you can try shelving down the mid and upper bass area. The 250hz to 500 area to be specific. But otherwise, if the track has a lot going on in that area, it becomes too much for my liking so it depends on the type of music as well.

99 are made for electronic music, edm, trap (rap), D&B portable or not they represent power of bass and clarity of highs, midrange not always is that good can be muddy but thats rock/metal case

Heyy I am thinking about buying a Meze 99 Classic. Is the Meze 99 Classic beter then my Sony Wh-1000xm3?

Sound-wise, definitely. Though it's also quite bassy. Cant quite remember if the Sony is as bassy but the quality of the Meze's is better regardless. If you're gonna be using it for commute, then the WH1000XM3 is better because it has active noise cancellation

@@HeadphonePH Do you think that an amp/dac would make much difference? Never used one because of the Bluetooth on the Sony's

I'd say not much because the 99 Classics are made to be efficient. During my time with it, I was perfectly happy using it directly from my laptop's audio jack
