Went there with my wife for our anniversary. That water that runs down to the beach is coming from the lagoon/mangroves, let me tell you it is cold!😂. Took a plunge in it and then ran to the other side to the warmer water✅. The ATV was very fun too, by day’s end, we had a basket full of things we bought along the way.Samana is very beautiful and quiet.

Cabarete has his own mágic as a multicultural town, Las Terrenas in my opinión brings us another plus aura like more european people living in this paradise. Definitelly the 2 places are very exciting and beautiful places for living in. Terrenas i think has more kind of party living than cabarete, but in my case I will live in any of this espectaculary towns of the DR.

So we did it! Our trip to LT is booked for the first week of Dec flying into Samaná fr Toronto. So excited. I follow a few realestate channels fr LT and prices have jumped in LT but maybe settled down a bit. I always dream of buying in the DR but think we need to hang on to property in Canada so we always have a foothold. Thanks Trevor and Anna for another great Sunday morning video. Beautiful area.

I lived a few years in Las Terrenas nd also a few years in Cabarete. Cabarete offers much more.I also have to say that I learned windsurfing in las terreneas and moved to Cabarete because of the windsurfing. But in general, Cabarete being not so cut off like las terrenas, was much more appealing for me and live was better.

Just got back from Las Terrenas. I hear you for the issues with all the new builds going on and the worries with the infrastructure being able to manage it all!! We have been traveling here for a while now. Its a worry for us as well. We were there during a major rain for two days and experienced areas that flooded. We also experienced power outage, so it is a worry moving forward. For that reason we are only renting so we always have the option to travel to other places without the worry of looking after a place. Seeing the villa's that flooded around us was very sad and to think they are owned by people who were not there. We love Las Terrenas, the culture, the beaches. We will continue to stay there but only as renters.

Hello from Belgium, Anna and Trevor, your video is so interesting again, you pointed a lot of helpfull issues as always ! We really loved Las Terrenas but the weather was not too good, lot of rain but only stayed 1 night. We stayed a Coco Loco Hotel, really cool and just in front of Empanadas y Mas, we managed to eat there and it was really good. We also went to enjoy Happy Hour at the Etno too 🤩really cool place even when it's raining 😉Will travel to Cabarete in several days, so will figure out which one between Las Terrenas and Cabarete we prefer. Maybe will be able to share it with you then. Never know. Keep going with your cool and helpfull videos and maybe see you soon in Cabarete.😘

I was in Las Terrenas for 7 days last year and while it was gorgeous, the food experience and the quietness of the town turned me off. The food had no flavor and we tried local spots and expat owned spots in different areas. The best part of the trip was Playa Ballenas and getting around on the ATV and doing some real estate tours with a realtor. The locals were cool too.

Because tomorrow is Earth Day, I have an Earth Day challenge for you two : when you go for your morning smoothie, ask for it in a reusable container that you bring with you and a reused or reusable straw so that you go plastic-less for the day. For a few years I've been wondering where to live in the D.R. when I move there from the UK, Cabarete, Sosua or Las Terrenas. I used to love Las Terrenas until the big "secret paradise" got out and now every one loves it and I think it will soon get overcrowded and that beautiful town getting spoilt. But it's over hyped now and property prices are now, for a long while now, extortionate. But the one big issue I have with Las Terrenas is that even though it's so beautiful, from what I've seen in videos, I fear I would get bored there and it's so far from other towns, and you're just stuck there in the middle of nowhere (except Samana), and I also fear that I would be suicidal living there because it seems so boring, (but still beautiful), I don't mean suicidal literally, but I hope you know what I mean. And I just love Playa Ballena and that long stretch of road beside it and I love Bonita Village that's close by too.

Yes you can ride the 4 wheeler on city streets , secundary roads , but NOT on major roads . I'd pick Las Terrenas , much closer to a major airport , a good medical Center , the embassies , Dentists , shopping , etc. The medical aspect is a major issue , you can't stay young forever . And Las Terrenas and Samana province ate exotic ! Prices go up everyday ! So buy low sell high . 🇨🇦🇩🇴👍

Great question/comment . Samana weather can change suddenly . It does get lots of rainstorms and booming thunder in the late summer months . So flash flooding is a concern in such hilly terrain . This is a CON . The weather can move in suddenly and surprise you . 🥵 True !

The DR isn't for everyone . You have to be the adventurous type , some people SPOOK easy . 🤣So that must be taken into consideration . The DR has many challenges . However the sun comes out within 24/48 hours after the downpour and the visual beauty is shocking ! So , if you're not comfortable with the situation it's best to get astray at at a mayor hotel for a weekend ?Adventure , nature , discomfort , beauty , heaven , are key words .Get out and live , some don't because they spook easily . 👀 🤣😁

From your videos, I can tell that I like Las Terrenas better. But I don't like how far from the airport it is. And isn't it known for flooding?

It's known for flooding for sure... and far from an all year round airport. Pros and cons to that though right? - Trevor

Great Video, thank you! I agree with Anna about the infrastructure, when I was in LT and saw all the construction, I could not help worrying about that as I have seen it happen in some of my favorite places in Mexico, especially with sewage issues! ( I would thoroughly look into it before buying a place. Love your videos!!!!

Thanks so much! I don't think that will happen here like it has in Tulum or PV in Mexico though. That said, there are A LOT of new buildings in LT but we most were not occupied with renters - Trevor

How do you get your visa/residency?
@pilsatortube
@pilsatortube 6 ай бұрын
Not really needed, you pay a small fine if you ever go travel to other places if your tourist visa ran out.. but that’s it. Foreigners are allowed to own properties in the dr without one too. Foreigners are allowed to purchase land in the Dominican Republic with the all same rights as citizens. In fact, it's spelled out in the country's constitution. Google it

Recently visited the DR … stayed in Punta Cana and took a day trip to Santo Domingo… it was extremely depressing seeing the poverty, extreme poverty and very poor living conditions for the native people… piles of garbage on the roads, poor people waiting on the side of the roads/highways daily waiting be chosen to work by piling people on the backs of open pick up trucks, very dirty areas and shacks, this was our experience and this is what we saw driving from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo. It was very sad to see how high the poverty is for the native people. And the river in Santo Domingo was horrible. The smell was very, very bad. The city seemed dirty and dusty.

There is a lot of poverty in the Dominican that is true. The Dominican is a very beautiful country and the people are very friendly. You must give the Dominican another chance and come to the North coast as well. There is so much natural beauty in the mountains too.

Just an idea😃. We just finished renting quads and took into back country( el Choco road south of Sabaneta) and found the most amazing waterfalls, rivers, beer at colmados . Fun to discover the country that way😀😀💕

😧 Holy cow, where in Santo Domingo you went to? I have never seen anything as described there. Of course there's poverty and there are people living under the poverty line, it is a developing country after all, I've found very poor people in Arizona where I live too.
