Delta 1600 series shower faucet with RP1991 stem unit and seal replacement

Video covers the old delta 1600 series shower faucet. The stem replacement RP1991 and seals w/ seats. You can get seats/seals in RP4993. The spring is just RP3427.
I had replaced this by a knock-off amazon set 1 year ago. Developed a leak. I tried buying a set of universal springs and washers off of Amazon in a ten pack. They pack did not work. the seal holes were too large, and the spring bigger and stronger so they kept catching in the diverter holes and pushing through.
I bought this knock off set. It worked for a little over a year.

Great video. Question? Did any of the Delta literature or the Amazon value pack (of seals) instructions tell you to put silicon grease on seals (seats)?

I don't remember. I always place silicon grease on things that ride on faces. Just to help. You will notice a difference if you don't and do on the operation of the faucet knob.

Does bottom hole 72O get a rubber ate79 or spring or both or neither 7I73. Thx so much. On job now, couldn't tell if bottom one had a rubber atleast or not. Still drips. Does tightening up bonnet help it stop tripping with new parts

I just saw your two comments. Seems like you were able to stop the dripping. The bottom hole does not get anything. That is outlet. If you think of the bonnet like a normal valve tightening up stops stem leakage. Here it could stop dripping if everything is severely worn or if very, very loose during assembly. That should not be the issue though normally on a new replacement parts. Might want to put in your other comment what you did so everybody knows.

Do you think replacing this will solve the issue of not having cold water in this shower? (The water works every where else in the house and I did not see a leak anywyhere)

Sounds like your cold water supply valve is closed to the fixture. I wouldn't say doing this will fix your issue if there is absolutely no cold water to the fixture.

Do yourself a favor use only delta parts made for delta ...trying to save money just cost you time

First question, did your shower have hot water before? Second question, if the first answer is yes. Did you adjust the screw for limiting the hot water? There is a screw that I point out in the video that limits the hot temperature of your water. It is used to prevent children from burning themselves. Make sure that is unscrewed all the way so the knob turns all the way.

6:36 my forefinger is on the adjustment screw. Clockwise to turn down the heat setpoint and counter-clockwise to turn up. All the screw does is keep the moveable housing from turning all the way by the screw hitting the white stopper on the stationary inner stationary housing.
