I’ve paid off $7,842 of debt and fully funded a one month emergency fund since seeing your show for the first time in summer 2023. I’m projected to be debt free by January 2025. The elimination of impulsive spending started a cascade of habits toward delayed gratification - I couldn’t eat out so I started meal prepping, I figured I’m already meal prepping so I might as well track my macros, I started running, I’m down ten pounds. This is controversial and Caleb rarely pushes back on it because of the nature of it, but some people cannot afford pets, particularly certain types of pets that are more expensive, which is technically a want.

I totally agree. I'm guessing he probably doesn't push back because he knows they already have a pet and it would be unreasonable to ask them to give it up. But I do think it would be a good message to the viewers who are thinking about getting a pet and showing the reality of pet ownership. I love my pet with all my heart but I always advise other people against it when they are younger and don't have things figured out (which is the situation I was in when I got mine). Pets are cute, but it can get very expensive to care for them.

My dog was perfectly healthy her whole life. Then, suddenly, she got cancer. $10k later, she passed away peacefully on her own before the vet could see her. It can be really expensive really fast, plus the emotional toll of when it happens. People really need to be prepared and remember that pets aren't happy cute things all the time. They're like children who are fully dependent on you, medical emergencies and everything, their whole life.

Licensed veterinary technician here- pet insurance is worthwhile when you sign up your puppy, not so much later. It would be better to count on an emergency fund. Also, just like i cut and color and highlight my own hair so i dont spend $$$ on a salon, she can learn a few tips and groom her own dog. Bathe him, let him air dry, clean his ears, cut his nails. I find this easier to do at Pet Supplies- they have bathing tubs, towels, and blowers for $15 each visit. I think this guest is a lazy thinker- she wants Caleb to tell her each thing, step by step, to do. She is not a problem solver. Many guests are like this. Best to her and her dog, she can choose to improve. ❤

We got pet insurance for our 5 year old puppy after hearing Caleb talk about it a lot...we canceled a few months later because they kept denying claims due to pre-existing conditions (not surprising that a 5 year old pup has those). So now, in addition to what we're already saving for her, we throw the money spent on the insurance into savings for her.

I wish I had signed our puppy early for pet insurance, too, but I decided to do a savings account since I felt it was too late. I also set aside some time on Saturdays to do "Puppy Spa Day" lol, she gets her nails done and everything - I even have a playlist for music (which may sound crazy but she's a hyper active boxer and it almost guarantees she takes a long nap). I've never had a dog with long hair, though, so I can't really speak on how difficult the up keep is but I'd assume I'd just learn how to do it.

It's enough work that we actually can't find a groomer to do it for us at a reasonable (for us) price point. So, we just have to deal with it anyway and figure out how to do it ourselves. Brushing and trimming outside has been better.

I would love to be a pet groomer. Not for the dollars but for the doggos. I know it’s not easy because all doggos are different but I love washing my pets dogs. If we are ever hanging out and bored - I’m like let’s wash the dogs. And go to dog wash places for like $2. It’s the not the dogs that turn me off but the parents. If you get one tiny thing wrong concerning the haircut - you’ll be sorry.

Like, make videos actually meal prepping in those people's houses and teaching them how to change the fast food habit with what they have access to/ like to eat. Would be something I'd like to watch! Go with the person to do groceries at their local shop, cook with them, show the tricks, get them into it. People don’t value things they don’t pay for. It’s been found that people are more likely to commit to an education program if they invest at least a little money. It’s why you will see non-profits charge those they are offering education programs to a small amount of money because it significantly increases follow through of those who benefit.

Because of this channel I have gone from pulling 1000 from savings per month to adding 2000 per month! Increased Roth 401k to 16%. Started a found of 5000 for my 2 year old in the S&P 500. Thanks to this show, my husband and I locked down our budget and we saved enough for a down payment on 60 acres of beautiful land in Maine, and we’re in a good financial position to build a small house with a construction loan this year. My husband will be the GC and we’ll build it ourselves, so we’ll end up with the house we want for a LOT less than we would pay for a mortgage. It’s going to be a journey, but it’s been a dream we’ve had for years.

I used to buy fast food every day after work for nearly 6 months. It was crazy. I checked my bank statement one day and realized how much it was adding up and went cold turkey to stop. It was rough, but now, 7 years later, I don't even get tempted to buy fast food. In fact if I do buy it, it's usually when I'm with friends or family and even then it's extremely rare and I don't enjoy spending the money on something I know I could just make at home, lol. Totally different mindset now.

She really needs to focus on the Care credit. It's one of those cards where it's not "interest free", it's actually deferred interest and if you don't pay the balance in full by the end date they will retroact all of the interest from the previous months and apply it to your balance all at once. I know this because I used to work in the credit card world and also I utilize Care credit when I have high vet bills for my dogs, but I track it and pay it on time.

This guest was the first Financial Audit I watched about a year ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since! I dunno if it’s the lighting or her general demeanor but I didn’t recognize her at first til I heard her voice. She definitely seems happier and though her spending could be a lot better she has started making payments on her debts, increasing her income, and losing weight. She’s still got a ways to go and can’t be complacent but I think folks are being maybe a tad too harsh. Caleb has cited a poll of prior guests that they’re doing well a few times now. He needs to bring them back to share their stories, which are more motivating than statistics.

It astonishes me the level of no care some people have ESPECIALLY when someone takes the time to sit down and help your specific situation out. An entire year goes by and you’re still like “tell me what to do even though I won’t do it.” I started watching this show a year ago when I had gotten laid off for the first time in my life. I was at the highest paying job I ever worked yet $20k in debt. After losing my job and watching this show I completely turned my finances around and cut back my spending immensely. I’m so happy to say I’m under $5k in debt now and will be debt free by July! I got a job making $20k less a year than before and it’s because of this showing making me look at finances differently that I’ve been able to change my life around. And I’m so happy I did because along the way I got pregnant and will be having my first child in June and I’ve put myself in a much better position to raise her. Thank you Caleb!!!

So, there a common factor to all of Caleb's guests that seems to never be addressed. Most of these guests have absolutely no interest in learning how to budget, much less use a budget app. They want to be told EXACTLY how much to pay towards which bill in order to get out of debt. They want to be spoonfed the process. And when the financial situation changes, don't expect them to recalculate a new strategy. There better be someone available to make a new plan for them. These people will not put up a fight. They will follow instructions very well. But they will not think for themselves.

There actually is one that covers preexisting conditions! It’s AKC pet insurance (American Kennel Club), and after 1 year of coverage with your pet they cover PEC’s. They’re a little more expensive than other providers that don’t cover PEC’s, but it’s worth it for those that have expensive and frequent vet bills.

Dog groomer here. You do not NEED to get your husky groomed. Go to a self service dog wash, pay $20 and do it all there. They have a high velocity dryer that will get the majority of your dogs coat out.

This show helped me so much. I'm far, far from where I need to be, with about $10k in credit card debt, student loans, and a $25k car loan, but since I've been watching Caleb, my spending has gone to basically $0. I allow myself $40 cash a month for "taquitos" to prevent me from BS spending. I work Uber Eats on the weekends to earn an extra $500 a month. Doing this, I've been able to pay off $1500 of bad debt and close one of my credit cards. It's not much, but it's progress and I'm proud. Caleb, you're doing something incredible here. Thank you ❤

This just solidifies that fast food is addictive and it causes people to spend to get their fix of sugar and salty treats. There is a bigger issue and if she can get healthy to kick the cravings, she'll have a chance to experience real self control. I started the carnivore style of eating in January and have saved a ton not eating out or binging McDonald's every day and processed foods.
