Hello and welcome back to Answers About Alzheimer’s. Today we will be talking about some dementia-friendly activities to do at home with your loved one, and how to get them started. People with dementia often want to be doing something, but they don’t have the brain power to get started. It is therefore up to us to sit with them for a while and introduce them to a new activity. If your person is shadowing you nonstop and you can’t get a moment to yourself, there’s a strong possibility they simply need to be engaged with an activity.
As with all our roleplay videos, this is not meant to be followed beat by beat. This video is meant to demonstrate proper communication techniques that you can employ with your person with dementia. Effective communication is key when it comes to dealing with dementia, so be sure to follow along and keep good notes.
If you are still in need of a consultation then be sure to book your time slot at the Calendly link below. You can also visit our website and pick up a copy of our new book for more information. Be sure to follow us on FaceBook and become fully immersed in our dementia community. Together we can!
